That damage to your old prop was wicked. Looked like you got a really good deal on the replacement. I keep a spare prop in my boat, hope I never need it!
I've never seen one break like that..funny part is that it wasnt a rock or loch ness monster that broke it...it was a little piece of drift wood ...I was shocked..I've chipped and bent a few but never broke.. yea I almost spent $155 for a new one at my boat shop then my buddy found that one on Amazon. Figured worst case I could return it..thanks for watching!
Decided against the stainless steel? Got mine back a couple weeks ago but have only had it out once. Huge difference! Glad you are up and running again
Cant afford the stainless right now! Just wanted to have her going again . I think I will do the 4 blade stainless down the road.. glad you got yours back! I know you hated the aluminum! Hope you get to use it again soon
What happened to the inner spine. I didn’t see you put that on. 🤷🏼♂️🧐 oooh. You put a note that you had already slide it on. Also, I don’t know what size to get. There’s lots of different propellers. I do have a Merck 60 4stroke but mine is older. Thanks… Good job.
Howdy ! Thanks for watching sorry for late reply. The one I use is 10.75" diameter with 12 pitch. prop number is QA2072X Seems to be a good all around propeller. Nice hole shot . Top speed is ok too. Happy boating !
Interesting video man, by boat knowledge is slim to none, didn't think it would be that easy. Liked the how-to...I definitely won't have this problem for a long time but good to know haha. One day i'll own a boat!
Thanks for watching eventhough it doesn't apply yet(you future boat owner!). I appreciate you and your support! figured I would show that you can do it at home easily. I know people get intimidated and spend $120-200 at a shop for something like this..I will probably make these as things break..haha..hopefully someone finds it and benefits! Thanks again brother!
Sorry for delay. I believe you can pop hubs in and out if they are still good . I have not done one myself so I will do a little more research. Thank you!
The prop is a black diamond 10.8x 12 pitch. I've never done stainless. I hear they are great on higher horsepower motors so I'm sure if you got some extra cash it might be great. If you get one let me know how it performs!
Glad you can fix my boat if I'm laid up! Well if you ever get out here and go on a guided HJH trip I dont want you to worry a hair on your head! Wait... 🤣.. you will be in good hands.. I used to buy..fix...and sell boats for a side hustle 💪..thanks for watching 👊
This video is pretty old but hoping I can still get some feedback...if I don't have a torque wrench should I wait for one or just use my best judgement with a socket set? I don't want to have to buy a freakin expensive wrench just to change my prop if I don't have to..
Hey Super Dave! I'm pretty sure you could get away with best judgment. Or I know around here the parts store will loan out or rent a tool. No question returns. I just did it with a fan clutch wrench. Hope you get it all figured out !
I'd say primarily trolling. To be honest I only ran the boat 1 time without it so I can't say if it planed out faster or not. I'm sure it doesn't hurt performance though. Ive had the SE SPORT hydrofoil on a smaller motor before and saw zero difference. I'm not convinced they are worth the $.
Thanks! I hate the smell of grease...like axle or marine grease ,so when I know I have to use it I generally wear gloves. Plus I look more professional right 🤣.. thanks for always supporting HJH channels!
@@hookjawhunters9419 I found it it was on the last piece that you put the bolt and keeper tab then nut on, guess it slid off the plastic piece onto the medal piece. Thank you brother. Video was helpful. Haven't changed a prop in 20+ years.👍
You are welcome! Glad it was a help . Thank you for leaving a comment! Have a great weekend and happy boating!
Thanks for your video this will save me a few dollars replacing my prop.
Awesome!! Happy to help my friend. Thanks for watching!
Nice job. We’ll be doing replacement on a 2003 merc 60 this weekend. Thx

I assume the plastic hub cannot be moved from the old prop (if your new prop didn't come with 1)??
Sorry for delay. I believe you can pop hubs in and out if they are still good . I have not done one myself so I will do a little more research. Thank you!
What size prop is that? Have you ever put a stainless prop on that motor to see the benefits? I have the same motor, so I'm curious

What kind of hydrofoil are you running? Thanks
Using the Trol-A-Matic from bass pro shops . Think it's about $100. Great trolling plate and then automatically pops up when you accelerate.
@@hookjawhunters9419 does it help with getting the boat on plane or handling or is it purely for trolling ? Thanks.

Good tutorial. Seems easy enough. Are those gloves for coronavirus or do you always wear them when you work on your boat? 👍

What Diameter and pitch did you put on your boat
Hello. It's a 10.75" diameter with a 12 pitch. The prop number is QA2072X. Hope that helps 👍

Good luck with the website. We do more fishing than boat repair so I'm not sure we are the best fit. Seems like a decent idea. Take care
Hello just subscribed, we have a new 60 Mercury, no prop problems yet, check out our channel sometime, some boating, but mostly firewood videos 🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Awesome! Thank you. I will stop by asap. Appreciate the support!
