@@diggingindiana1464 I actually found a large arrowhead walking through a farmers field, when I was eleven years old. Southern Ontario. It was big.

they are all across canada lots in protected sites and parks but do not take them, but you still have a chance in fields with permission and just walking creeks and rivers you can get some

No problem. It's all for you it doesn't hurt to take just a few minutes to let some that can't get out to see one as it they were there as well. As long as you were able to pause and take a better look is all that matters.

Was wondering if you can help me. My mom has three pieces of American Indian pottery. Her and her parents took a trip from Michigan to Arizona in I think the 1930s or 40s and bought these pieces from an old Indian woman selling these on the side of the road. That's pretty much all she remembers. After she dies she said she would like me and my brothers to return them to the area where they were from and donate them to an Indian museum. Do you have any suggestions on how to tell the painting style that's on them? They are all made of clay. Two are what I would describe as drinking cups and one is what I would describe as a small watering pot with a handle and two openings (spouts) on each side. Any help on my next step to try tracking information down about these would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Some peoples world view look at the Indigenous Artifacts and want to gain these collections, others like myself have an indigenous perspective and look at all these items as sacred. The culture of indigenous people are not a collection. This is actually so sad to see this as a hobbie carry out in families and generations. Culture is not for sale. In 2024 its sad to see these folks have not evolved in their thinking.

If they wanted them that bad I'm sure there would be a law on having them.

These are not sacred items. They are common items used in day to day living. Even if an object can be identified as a grave good, all context has been lost. I'm sympathetic to respecting native culture but these objects have all lost their identity due to time.

The tribes that had artifacts such as these haven’t existed in thousands of years. The tribes that we know of had lost the skill of napping skillfully and used crude triangles and metal arrowheads. These are from prehistoric people who are irrelevant to the “tribes” and they have no claim on them.
