This looks quite amazing. I've never been good at RTS, but I still enjoy older titles like TibSun and Broodwar. This is one of the first modern RTS games I can safely say I'm excited for, and I'll definitely be watching for it alongside Iron Harvest and Highfleet. Have you taken a look at Starsector at all? It's a game I've been playing since 2015, and its seen amazing growth and change over the years of its development. You’re right. The planets and ships in Stellaris don’t look too great when looking at them from close range, but they don’t look too bad either when having max graphic settings. The skybox is fine and there’re luckily mods to make it better.
That's some really cool game, like the visuals and using the suns as lighting source, the projectile physics and the spaceships being composed of multiple functional pieces that can be individually targeted and destroyed are the a huge plus to me, will keep an eye on it.
Will definitely keep an eye on this thanks One complaint I have already is the weapons; there's not enough ordinance being fired. If you are going to arm a ship with cannons then you don't just mount one and fire it occasionally. You either mount as many cannons as possible or you make the main gun run across the entire spine of the ship and any leftover room gets used for gattler turrets. Optionally replace some of the top/bottom guns with missile silos. You win fights by having more dakka then the enemy; if you are losing then you didn't bring enough. And if the enemy hits the magazine containing all that ammo well people like watching explosions
this is so bad ass, finally a space frontier game grounded in a gritty reality like the expanse... you know before the blue goo... no aliens, no laser beams, no "light speed" etc.... this looks dope!
I LOVE the way ships come apart in fight. I also love having indipendent subsystems. "Worf. Target the enemy deflector dish!" "Aye aye" I'm not much of a fan of having a special point that if hit destroys the ship. Sounds like RNG losing your dreadnaught to Luke Skywalker X Wing.
As someone who recently started solo game development, I can tell this footage tells me volumes about the author. It is amazing how many details need to be done. Not as many shovelware as in the early days of Steam Green Light program.

Mod support is something I would love to add however it's currently not on my list of dev targets. Taking ships for example as I know people would probably love to add their own models to the game. The destruction system in Falling Frontier uses physics to blow ships apart. This allows for the ability to have slightly different destruction visuals each time based on where the explosion originated from. The fire and smoke particle systems also use vertex based emission and dynamically move from the main ship model to the destruction model. In order to support this I'd need to develop an in game editor that would do the following things. Please note this isn't an exhaustive list. Import external meshes, scale meshes, set weight variables for each component, apply vertex emission to relevant components and expose a number of variables that drive the particle systems to the end user. Some of these things aren't too hard, others are more difficult but all in all it would be a rather time consuming task to publicly expose a bespoke editor in game. Potentially months worth of work as I haven't done a full analysis of everything I'd need to create for it. Just some of the big ticket items. Sorry for the long explanation but I want to transparent when it comes to the possibility of mod support and the technical challenges for enabling that. I'm certainly not saying it won't happen.
