Good evening friends :) Thank you for joining me for this weeks recipe video! The takeaway style curry that I’m frequently asked about :) I’ll join you down in the comments for a wee while x
We had this tonight and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. Such an easy recipe and it tasted delicious! Thank you so much for sharing. It's definitely one of my favourites now. ❤
I’m going to make this curry for my family this weekend I w let you know after they have had it thank you I have made quite a few of your recipes all really great 👍🏻 thank you
Looks soooo delicious. Makes me wish i had a slow cooker and electricity. 99% sure i can replicate it though ❤ Just took a wee pan of traditional shortbread off the fire. 37 here today so melting cooking outside lol
Hello Cheryl thank you for your lovly recipes Scottish oatcakes beef curry so delicious and you explain things so clearly plz keep up your good work and I love the scenery in your videos so thank you
That look lovely . I have made your slow cooker Chinese chicken curry quite a few times now & it's delicious & I'm not really a big curry fan. But I'm going to give this a go. Also Cheryl I made a quiche Lorraine Lorraine Friday, was looking back on your videos, think it was bout 2 yes ago, I love quiche but I always find shop bouggt ones a bit of a let down , even the expensive ones & the cheap ones are just a waste of money so I followership your recioe & my god, it was absolutely delicious. I even made my own pasrty as when I went food shopping they had no shortcrust. Coukdbt be bothered going to another supermarket supermarket so as I had the flour & butter made my own. ( like when i made your homity pie quite a while ago, delicious as well). The quiche was the besr I've ever tasted, well worth all the effort. It didn't look as pristine as yours did, but hey hoe, but rhe taste yummy. Butim like you, not a cook/ chef, just a lady who loves to cook. Even my husband whose never been a fan of quiches said he realky enjoyed it. So thanks again Cheryl for all your videos.
Hi Cheryl, I’ve been looking forward to seeing this recipe & will definitely be trying it out when my larger sized slow cooker arrives. It looks absolutely delicious & can’t wait to taste it.😋 Thanks for sharing 🙏 Take care & enjoy the rest of your week. xx 👩🏻🍳💕💞🩷
Just started cooking this and using the same curry paste Only an hour in to cooking and the curry smells amazing Its going to be a long three hour wait but if it tastes as good as it smells right now its going to be worth it
Wow it was totally worth it ,The five spice,Cayenne pepper and the coconut milk adds such a depth of flavour I highley recommend this to you all its the best
Mmm mm! This looks absolutely delicious! I wonder if this will work using a dutch oven in the oven on low heat for a few hours. I don't have a slow cooker, but this would be lovely to make. Thanks, Cheryl!
Fry off the paste for about 20 seconds then add cold water whisking until it boils then simmer for a couple of minutes then add the rest of your ingredients 👍
Well that looks delicious,I just looked up a recipe for Chinese curry paste,as it’s not available here,at least I have never seen it.I tried Chinese curry here in the US, and it was awful, but as it’s so popular in the UK I think yours must be good, so I’m going to give it a go.
I was waiting for this recipe!! I don't think I can get the Chinese curry paste here. I am hoping if I use Thai yellow curry paste or Japanese Golden curry that it will be similar. It just looks so good!!
For those of you who don't like too much heat, I suggest adding a couple of tablespoons of soured cream on the side. It will take the heat away without imparting the taste. It works for my family .
Cheryl,if I may ask, where did you get the curry paste from?, The recipe jump's out at me, from my tablet screen,it looks totally delicious!, Thank you for a great ,easy to follow video, sunshine, laughter, and love to you!
I love curry and definitely want to make beef curry. YUM! I wonder if I can get a curry paste over here in the states. I looked on Amazon and they have the exact same curry paste that you used ( and same size) but it is $26!!! I'll pass on that brand and get something cheaper.
I am very fussy with my curry's but I'm surrounded with people that don't like spice. Even the chinese places I use to love has gone mild because most people can't even handle any
Cheryl, please marry me lol. All your dishes i have tried are thoroughly delicious. Please keep them coming, i seriously have enjoyed all that i have tried. Thanks love xx
I don't believe chips with rice! Reminds me of my last trip to Arran where, for the first time, I saw chips served with pizza. I come from Scotland but have lived in Canada most of my life, and the idea of two starches on a plate is absolutely unknown here, let alone chips with Italian or Chinese or Indian or other such integrated cuisines. I like this recipe, but cannot seem to find Chinese Five Spice powder in any of my supermarkets and, being disabled, can't venture very far. Nor a Chinese curry paste similar to yours, though I have found a Singapore one that may be similar. Pity, as I rather like the looks of this recipe. However I may have to adapt it to an Indian version -- I have Indian curry paste, and garam masala, and I think the rest of your ingredients will work fine with that. But you have piqued my palate for Chinese and I will keep looking for the missing elements! And I wonder if it could also work with chicken. I'll be trying it as soon as the weather makes a beef curry a temptation. Always love to see your end shots when they are Arran, where I also spent a family holiday as a child. So much so that the first chance I got when I was back in Scotland for a stretch, I went for another one. Thank you.
@@WhatsForTea It's so against the Canada Food Rules, a nutrition guide from Health Canada, that it is considered bad form, and you just never see it. But I remember an Arnold Wesker play called Chips with Everything -- and I think that sums it up. We have the balanced diet idea dinned into us from birth in this country -- I was young enough when I came here, and my mother never made Italian food anyway, or rice as a side dish, that it never arose in our house, and, visiting relatives back home, they tended to serve meat and two veg and a salad. My aunt was a professional cook, and it would never have crossed her mind to serve two starches on the same plate. But it is not only the Brits -- I ordered out from a Greek place once, and to my surprise with a seafood dish, they served both seasoned rice and seasoned potatoes. I felt almost guilty eating it!
@@maggietaylor9475 It may be some, though in every case I checked out the shipping rate was at least more than the item. it can get ridiculous -- I saw a pair of smoked paprika bottles recommended by another cooking site I use, unavailable locally, but at a very good price ($10 the pair). But the shipping was $75 -- rather more than I fancy paying for smoked paprika. I opted for another brand. I tried the three grocery stores from which I regularly order (alternately) and none of them responded to Five Spice powder, 5 Spice Powder or Chinese Five Spice powder. I was sure I had had it years ago, so finally in despair tried Chinese spices, and found both a Five Spice, listed under its brand name, and another curry paste, clearly Asian, probably Chinese. So I will be in business when I want them. As long as I remember just to search Chinese spices. It is currently too hot in Canada to contemplate a beef curry. But I love a curry and have a huge watermelon this week -- I was seduced by the idea of a watermelon curry by something I saw on Death in Paradise! Dying to try it -- and I have a Caribbean curry paste in stock.
@VLind-uk6mb the Irish served me a chicken veg curry at a hotel with exactly those two starches, and loads of them. And a fella I was with another time told the server to bring him just the chicken and chips, no veg. I almost died when she said "oh, so you won't be having any starch then?"😅 British Essentials has that exact curry for $12.99 on Amazon. Spice Islands, McCormick, Badia, and Morton& Bassett all make the 5 spice. You can also make your own at home. I'm not a fan of it, as it has anise, an overpowering amount of star anise

Just!! amazing 😍
I can't wait for cooler weather so I can cook stuff like this. It's been 38c-40c since Monday with no rain.
Rain started here at 11p.. I got up to close windows, checked weather, we'll have rain for a week! Monday excepted. I'll happily send you some!

S&b golden curry is the best one I’ve found in US looks similar to hers in appearance but it comes in a box and stored like cubes of ice
@@Underthesun97 Thank you for the information,so nice of you to help.

Hi Cheryl, o my god, my mouth is watering, right now 😋

Amazon
The Thai certainly will NOT. I don't know the Japanese product.
I hope your husband realises how lucky he is to get his meal cooked for him, without pricking the film and putting in the oven 😊😊

Really?! It's very common here 😄 Macaroni cheese & chips and pizza & chips would be considered normal where we are 💞
