Great review, nice looking locos with some great detail. Over here in the uk we are only just starting to get some of the amazing detail you've had on your stuff for years. Sound really does it for me, awesome. Regards Paul
Love the demo model in dark red, looks great review James. Best of luck on your move. I bet your excited about eventually building a new layout. Please post videos.
Zombie Slayer8999 of course that means DCC Sound models are gonna be pricy, more than the New MTH SD70s. And now I take it that sd50/60fs aren't made in Ho scale.
How close is the sound of the 20 cylinder prime mover in real life? I never got to hear 20 cylinder power very well in video form and never in real life (i'm from California)
Nice! Hey if possible can you do a review of athearn genesis sd70s' series again.like this time the latest runs.like IC sd70 unit 1000 and PRLX Ex /Santa Fe SD75M.
I am trying to start but having a hard time trying to figure out which locomotives brands are the best to start out with! Especially couplers on rolling stock? Do I need to exchange them with certain brands to make them compatible
All manufacturers today use compatible knuckle couplers, that allow you to hook trains together without regard to brand. A lot of modelers prefer to switch out the couplers for Kadee metal knuckle couplers as they have a lot higher quality and durability. If your buying older rolling stock, some may have the old hook and horn couplers that are not compatible with knuckle couplers. Brands are personal preference, and many have different product lines based on detail and budget. Accurail, Athearn Roundhouse, Walthers Mainline, and Bachman are good budget cars, although they are less detailed. On the other end of the spectrum you have Athearn Genesis, ExactRail, Tangent scale models all make nice highly detailed models that look like the real thing (although the price reflects the quality). I would stay off of eBay until you know what your looking at, many sellers overcharge for old models (rare or vintage is normally a key). I highly recommend going to a train show to see what’s out there and you can find great deals. Walthers, and train world are great online sites to buy from.
@@termitevomit I'm an Amtrak Guy and i understand why so many people like these engines, also they were one of 2 engines to have the conrail White Stripe livery.
glad the conrail is patched.. or i would of bought it.. but after my time. some times James I just want to give you shit for these reviews. a lot of times, after watching your unbiased reviews. I hit the wb sites and buy what you show. lol, you are hard on my wallet , and who am I kidding,, I will be getting one of these
I’m getting the Conrail SD80MAC in January 2021. Looking forward to having one.
Getting ready to move and still going to it, thanks James( maybe if you get stuck there you can sleep under Bobs new bridge. :)
We got some scenery this time!
Can’t wait for the full review!
Impressive and interesting product review, the sd80mac is one of my favorite modern emd diesel locomotives.

When I see a SD-80 I always think of Norfolk Southern,
Don't understand why so many modelers love these Edsel's of locomotives. 🤷
6 axle with a flaired radiator core; your supposedly a SP guy & don't understand that??? UGHHHHH!!!!

I’m 100% gonna get CSX 808 (the Conrail patch one)

Sparky they are making them without the Csx patch aswell
Hi
Kato quit making them as far as I know so I’ll be getting 12 to paint in
CSX blue numbers 4590-4602
They should have put in tsunami 3
Too bad they don't have an actual 20-710 recording to use. Their 16-710 just doesn't cut it for an SD80MAC.
I mean they are still around so they could try to record one of them
@@maxim430 NS just sold them, 6 to CP for parts and the rest to Progress Rail. Who knows if we'll see one run again.
@@ck5644 yes I know so athearn could try to get one running
Electric brake only on 80MAC
Wow ho is so much cheaper than o scale
not better than kato
They still using them whack ass plastic handrails
