Awwi I'd say don't be depressed. Honestly I feel like it's not their fault, not yoru bf's or mine. My bf is very different than his parents when it comes to traditional mentality, but of course he doesn't want to upset them either so sometimes we just play along for the sake of his parents. I'm sure the same applies to your bf, and it will get better with time. From what I understand, there's a huge gap between generations. And people like your bf (and mine too) are stuck between a rock and a hard place. It gets better with more independance. I wish you best of luck!

There's always exceptions...at the end of the day there are open-minded and close-minded people in every culture. My husband's family (in India) is in many ways more open minded than my white American family about our relationship. It's more of a loss for them since they don't get to see him as often and have more trouble communicating with their daughter-in-law, but they are very supportive of us. My family is more likely to push us to carry on American traditions and they take it as a personal attack if we don't feel that it's for us. His mom will let me know about some traditions and rituals, but has never pressured me to actually follow through with them (especially fasting!)

im an India and i love your videos, but this one is no where near to a real Indian guy.
From what i've seen this video is so precise. For sure there are bad people in every country and nation. But Indian men i met were romantic, they treat you as if you are the most beautiful girl/woman in the world and they cherish you. They still believe in love and they are very assertive. I mean they don't give up on you... And it's impressive.

My time to shine! I had a partner who was South Indian. We were together for nearly 5 years. Most of these are spot on and I appreciate that they’re not afraid of commitment (me neither). But after having a partner who’s raised on Indian films and unrealistic expectations of love, I don’t think I’d want anyone that romantic again. It gets tiring. Very nice man though.

Couples will occasionally argue or get upset with each other. Sometimes love is leaving dinner for them after a long day or something mundane. Just because love isn’t exciting all the time doesn’t mean it isn’t good. Real love is very rarely like the films.

While this would have been very true back in the days and still is up to some extent, I think the modern Indian man has come a long way and the world doesn't know much about him since his friends 'from the town' still sorta outnumber him. You'd however find them to have an edgy sense of humor, casual, open, enterprising and just very contemporary in general with etiquette and some nice ass cologne.

From what I’m learning about these men they seem to be some of the few quality men out there that value commitment and have long term potential for relational stability and devotion. The more I learn about these men and the people in general the more I’d like to be a part of their life. They seem to really love their Mamas too!
