    Nice way of ringing! This motive is called Regina Coeli, laetare because those tones are same as start of same-named Gregorian chant, whose name means "O Queen of Heaven, Rejoice"

    Lovely bells. Are the 9th and 10th bells hard to get up right?

      They can be, but also we had an enthusiastic but learning set of ringers this morning.

      @@DavidBraunton It’s worth asking ;) they’ll probably be ringing at least 2 or 4 bells due to COVID.

    Nice bells but why did they only go half way up? I was expecting them to be fully rung up.

    • @RingerPeter
      @RingerPeter 3 роки тому +2

      Its called continental ringing. The bells only go half way at no controlled speed.

      @@user-jq8jy8ld4u I'm not sure to be honest, english bells usually if not always ring full circle. This type of ringing I'm not sure, I think it depends on the tower captain and the event that is happening

      @@RingerPeter I have some questions regarding its liturgical use. I always got informed about the technique of change ringing so far but I rarely learned something about when which peals are used. Like: Now we have this and that day and we have this and that celebration, therefore we ring this and that... I'm interested especially in the differences, if there are any, between weekdays, sundays and holidays. And are there some guidelines out there, which regulate the bell ringing? Thank you; cheers from Germany!

      @@user-jq8jy8ld4u in weekdays towers around the country have a practice night which is typically around 7:30-9pm. Each tower usually one practice night per week and different towers have it on different days of the week (Monday-Friday). On sundays we ring on Sunday mornings and evenings for services. We sometimes ring for other events such as weddings and funnels etc. With guidelines, in some towers people have to wear masks as the ventilation isnt very good or people prefer to wear them. Social distancing has gone so we can now all stand in the ringing circle (where the ropes are to ring the bells) next to eachother so we can ring all the bells together. (I'm guessing you were on about the guidelines for covid?)

    How come some of the bells have falling clappers

    • @DavidBraunton
      @DavidBraunton  11 місяців тому +1

      They can be rung with the clapper right, but it takes a lot of brute force, at the right times to jerk the clapper 'right' at the start, once you get past a certain amount of swing, you are dealing with a swinging weight of 3/4 -1.625 tons. In this video from memory, the ringers were mostly new to ringing.
