When was this shot? Fire and Blood with the Dance of the Dragon came out in 2018, wasn't this earlier? Probably George told them what he planned to write?
Pretty much. There was a lot of lore building prior to Princess and the Queen. He also mentioned the fate of Aegon V's brother in this scene, which would be covered later in Dunk and Egg
A song of ice and fire series was already full of history lessons. Stories about Rhaenyra were short stories already back then. George just added to them to make a whole book.
In the end of the first book there's a page talking about the targeryans and a list of every single king since Aegon. Rhaenyra, Aegon II and the dance of the dragons are mencioned there so i guess George already had a good idea of how it all happened back then.
The lore is heavily laid out throughout the books. If I recall correctly, Stannis mentioned Rhaenyra in the third book which came out way back in 2000, when he talks about how Rhaenyra died a traitor's death for usurping her brother's throne. Guess that goes to show which side he was on.

Don't worry even after she died, they still won the war
@@jeffalver2047 "won" is a very strong word.
@@jeffalver2047 They didnt win, they massively lost. Aegon is the one that won the war as he killed Rhaenyra. She even lost more, because the war was for the cause that first born females could seat on the iron throne equally to males. Well, after her, all males would always be put ahead of first born females in the succesion. She would always be known as the usurper and Aegon and Aegon II by Rhaenyra's own descendants... which only inherited the throne because Aegon had no male heirs. But that alone is not a defeat.
@@Alejojojo6:
Uh, the blacks ultimately won by a landslide, they marched on the gates with supreme military power and installed Aegon III as king. You can say that Rhaenyra lost "in spirit" because she died and because her cause failed, but her faction still crushed the war by a wide margin.
Spoiling HOTD was probably the most evil act Joffrey ever committed.
Randomly spoiling us the end of the prequel series.
Truly the most villainous character in the franchise.
Wow what a great young guy, so excited by history. I can't see anything bad happening with him.
A few days later a Hightower poisoned Joffrey. Greens, scheming as always. Rhaenyra can sleep in peace now.
Wrong. Olenna is a Redwyne, genius. Margaery's mother is Alerie Hightower. And Rhaenyra can't sleep in peace. Her whole house is gone, while Hightowers remain as powerful and active as ever, still ruling Oldtown. Also, Greens are a Targaryen political party.
all Targs are gone. Hightowers are still rich, prominent and powerful
Rhaenyra when she meets Joffrey in the Seven Hells: "Who's laughing now?"
Joffrey: “I got to keep my crown. Where’s yours?”
At least Joff died a king.

@@gooby214 King of the bastards 🤣
I will be furious if they change the ending, and make Rhaenyra die by dragon fight or some shit. Also if they make Aegon not have Sunfyre
Recently leaked photos from the filming of the second season. Rhaenyra put on armor, LOL. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave her a sword, a bow and arrows, and she flew with a battle cry to fight Aemond instead of Daemon🤣
@@alexass8987 Absolute cringe clownery. Western TV entertainment always garbage.
@@gooby214 Not always but the last 6 years have been disappointing because of the rampant feminist agenda.
@alexass8987 we JUST saw the "tipping point" for the start of the war in the s1 finale of hotd, rhaenyra putting armor on for s2 is much more likely to shoot one of (m)any battle scenes, imo 😅
@@alexass8987To be fair, she wore armor in the books as well mainly for image politics in a likeness to her heroine Visenya, but she was no warrior. Taking Kings Landing will probably be the only real “fighting” she does.
HotD is just the history, it already happened therefore there isn’t really a spoiler, its a filming style where you see the ending first. im hyped to see what really happened and about the intention/ background behind it
not true, this is how she is killed
Damn it Joffrey!!!!😡😡😡
I love Joffrey's laugh. A true psycho
A lannister and hightower 2 greens laughing at rhaenyra's remains 😂😂
Meargery is related to Alicent LOL
Not her descendant but related nonetheless
Not really. Alicent's line died. And Margery is Tyrell not Hightower from Oldtown.
@@hafsahassan394 Margery's mum was a Hightower.
People keep forgetting Otto had a brother who is lord at Oldtwon he died but had a son who succeeded him, that Hightower line survives the dance.
Lmao nice catch
😂😂
Joffrey: "Would you like to see where the last Targaryens are buried?" Margaery: "It's like taking a walk through history" Margaery is descendant of Alicent Hightower.
She’s not a direct descendant. Their last common ancestor would’ve been Otto’s dad since House Hightower continued through Alicent’s cousin
@@guccifer764 Well, even Alicent's cousin Ormund was one of the Greens.
Rewatching GOT with my roommates and I was PREPARING myself to hit the mute button as soon as I saw this scene!!
Sure it "spoils" the ending, but it's a GOT series... if you thought the main characters were going to live, you haven't been paying attention.
Literally this
Its not the ending
@antoine2525 I too have read the book.
Jack Gleeson having a slow laugh.
When Joffrey says it, Alicent Hightower's first-cousin eight times removed (or thereabouts) smiles, 'cause she's like, "Get rekt, proto-Cercei."
yup margaery is technically descended from alicent's uncle.
@@godemperorofmankind3.091 yea because didn’t Hightowers marry into Tyrell family
Margarey is related to Alicent?
@@007dalal Yes. Her mother was a Hightower of Oldtown, a direct descendant of Otto Hightower's older brother.
Everyone has to remember even after she dies, then her son takes the iron throne so the story continues, then eventually leads into the black fire rebellions
So there's plenty to see
And apparently most of season 2 and 3 will be the targaryen civil war
AkA the dance of the dragons
Either Joffrey is getting the spoilers a decade early or he at least learned something from the history books.
Even now Joffrey continues to fuck us

Watching House of the Dragon is like a watch through history ^-^
Spoiler Alert!
ALL characters from House of the Dragon are dead in the time of Game of Thrones
Little evil bastard. He knew i was watching.
Honestly, spoilers aren't a big deal as research has shown people don't report knowing spoilers reduces their enjoyment of a movie/show by any significant measure.
Imagine if Joffrey had a dragon
Joffrey does have a dragon. But Joffrey changed his name to Aegon. Lol
he can’t tho he doesn’t have targeryan blood in him
@@firstofawll You think only Targaryens were dragonlords? They were the lesser of all dragonlords of Valyria. Targaryens are just the last and LEAST POWERFUL dragonlords who ever lived. But yes...Joffrey would have to re-discover all the ancient Valyrian magic in order to control dragons.
I'm traumatized forever
Aegon II: Nah, Sunfyre’s just playing with you, he don’t bite.
Joffrey is such a dick he spoiled the ending of a show that didn't exist yet
Nah, he simply told a book death that was already written for years before HotD.

Strongly doubt that. It's definitely towards the end of the war, I'm expecting it to be in the last season.
why did I searched for this ((((
I wonder if HotD will stick to how she died or make it something that was told wrong through history.
think of a theory what can hotd change abiut the ending. In s1 of hotd they foreshadow rhaneyras death when a palm reader tells her "do u wish to know how you are going to die". The scene then ccuts to a toy dtagon spiting fire. Thay wont do this foreshadowing if anything else was planned. Still give me a theory and i will give one too
People are saying he spoiled the ending of house of dragons…Rhaenrya dying isn’t even the end of the war. Be excited you get to see Cregan show up.
Meh. Cregan's overrated and completely unlikable. Overhyped just because "muh Starks". That guy is insufferable and self-righteous.
@@gooby214 you’re entitled to your opinion. I wasn’t impressed with his performance but it also made no sense to put them at the wall when they weren’t there in the book. Seemed like they were more focused on the CGI for the wall than the actual dialogue. I have hope when he does show up in the end it will be better, but it will be the end and history shows the GOT universe doesn’t end well.

Techincally the blacks end up ruling…. After suffering very heavy losses
I'm pretty sure a lot have gotten spoiled of what happens to their favorites already and in the end [Spoilers] the blacks sort of win since Rhaenyra's bloodline is the one that continues in power.
Both greens and blacks win and lose is some way and there's no happy ending for anyone if I remember correctly, surprise surprise

The blacks win…..
@@TheChannelofOrange actually no
@@TheChannelofOrange the whole war was between Aegon II and Rhaenyra. The second one is died. Yes, her blood and legacy continued but worth it? Aegon III was traumatized by this whole shit and was afraid of dragons. Also, in the history of Westeros for everyone Aego II was a real king while Rhaenyra was usurper.
Little did he know that Margaery is a distant relative of Rhaenyra
How?
Got excited last night until I remembered what Joff said smh.
Friggin Joffery
I know what you're thinking: "Yes, the Greens do win in the short term, but the Blacks end up winning in the long term." Granted, it's not a happy ending for either side. Basically, what I'm saying is that everyone wins and everyone loses.
To be fair, the greens completely lose, since none of their blood goes on to continue on the throne. Otto's and Alicent's entire lineage is ended with Jaehaera before she has any kids from Aegon III.
@juniorlks1 short-term win like I said
Yeah but all the politics after the dance is Green, you have all the kings after Aegon II has testament and Tyland Lannister was Aegon III Hand (and Aegon III succeeded Aegon II).
The Blacks were demolished has political faction and the green line is banished.
And the dragons were gone. A completed lost for everyone.
@@TensaSangetsu1254 Even Tyland's successor as Hand was Lord Unwin Peake, who was also a Green. The government of Rhaenyra's son was mostly controlled by former Greens.

And he is called Aegon the Broken because he is depressed after watching her mother die such a brutal death and hates dragons, that's why he's also called Aegon Dragonbane.
how they gonna change this to where Rhaenyra goes out like a "Slay Queen" instead of a "Ate Queen"

I think Season 3 episode 4, subscribe please and share ❤️
It is so funny to think that after aaaaall these history happened Bran the 'broken' gets the throne lol
what's funny is that if Joffrey actually were a Baratheon, he would be a descendant of Rhaenyra.
Even Stannis Baratheon believes that Rhaenyra usurped the throne of her brother Aegon.
...and? He's still her descendant.@@yousifali874
@@yousifali874 Even her own Targaryens descendants believed her to be the usurper and Aegon II as the right king thus why he is remembered as Aegon II. It's the reason why never again did an older female Targaryen had a claim to the throne ahead a male. Thus why the throne passed to Aegon IV son of Viserys and grandchild of Rhaenyra instead of Daena Targaryen, son of Aegon III (older son of Rhaenyra).
Joffrey should have said ''Here's the remains of Whore of Dragonstone who got eaten by a dragon'' and nobody would understand the spoiler until Criston Cole said it and people who went back to watch GoT would be like ''OH??''
