    The shop I started my career in still makes those binder bars from scratch in the USA, Screw machines, punch presses, oldschool.
    I owe them so much. If anyone needs a binder bar... Morgan Mfg. In petaluma California. I have a bunch of videos on my channel from there.

    Congratulations on the move. I just got to move my shop out of my garage and into a commercial space in February, and the stress was immeasurable. The actual move is the easy part. It's all the prep, wiring, cleaning, etc. that really wear on you.

      "Decision fatigue due to micro decisions" is what I refer to that as. It can be incredibly stressful!

    Having a rockstar rigging team is key to the whole process of moving. You can tell when they are rockstars because they don't even say a word while moving machines.

    Very well done Jay. Back in the early nineties I did a similar move. It took Me a lot longer more like 2-3 weeks with a split crew. Just out of curiosity how many square feet in the old to square feet in the new? Looks awesome

    That's a lot of logistics to consider, It blows my mind how big USA factory's are and how much space you have around the machines, my shop in UK is 2500 sq ft I pay £6 per sq ft [ £15k] and £8k council rates and to make it pay I have to squeeze the machines in, its all safe but tight, in ideal world I need at least another 1000 ft but I've been there for since 86 so I couldn't even comprehend a move 😱, goog luck, do you get the machine manufacturers back in to re set up the machines to get them dialed in because cncs don't like to be moved because gremlins seem to get in.

      Moving isn't hard if you have the right team, right mentality and right plan. This is our 3rd shop in 4 years and I'd trade moves for shop growth every time.

    Very nice looking shop. Congrats!! Is the flooring actual epoxy or polyaspartic? I used the later for my garage floor and it’s been bulletproof.

    Great new shop ! Is there any particular reason for painting the walls in black, apart from not seeing any accidental marks on them ?

    • @PiersonWorkholding
      @PiersonWorkholding  Рік тому

      I answer that in the previous episode.

      @@PiersonWorkholding I got your "black makes the machines pop" reason, although contrast is supposedly a general reason , not a particular one (the almost same effect one can get by using dark blue, dark grey etc). Just for fun, I will give you some examples: a guy I know painted his living room in black because he was a nightclub goer and he felt that black is "groovy" ! I girl I know painted her office in black because it resembled a theater atmosphere and perhaps it was the closest to being "on a stage" that she could have ever gotten. Different people have different reasons. If I wanted to become an austronaut, I would paint the walls in black and also paint some small bright stars and feel like in outer space 😊. Great shop anyway ! Have fun !

    How do you have a shop full of Haas' without puddles of coolant or oil under them?

    • @PiersonWorkholding
      @PiersonWorkholding  Рік тому

      We wouldn't leave puddles even if we had them. Trash lives in a dump.

    NOOOOOOOO!!! Not the Mini Mill! Man, you could walk out and say "this is where it started." Louis Rossman's channel and the general state of small business in California keeps killing my desire to run a business here. Yours is the only remaining beacon of hope.

    • @PiersonWorkholding
      @PiersonWorkholding  Рік тому

      As much history I had with the Mini Mill, sentimentality is a terrible business strategy. And don't believe everything you hear about California. It's still a manufacturing powerhouse and the synergy of local vendors is second to none.
