Hi Pete! I’ve been binging your kitbash and conversion videos for last two months, and you’ve consistently impressed me with your skills and creativity. The Dornian Heresy models, Updated Character Conversions, or Total War Kitbashes are some of my favorites, and just so cool to watch come together. I’d love to see you make more for the Leagues of Hashut, or more Leagues of Votann builds in general.
Can’t wait to see how it turns out Edit: Amazing paintjob as always, and I love what you did with the gun. This knight gets called a Titan a lot though which I thought was funny
@@Zakading There is no such thing as Knight Titans - it's like saying Astartes Custodes. But go back to Adeptus Titanicus in the early 90's when Knights and Titans were first created, they were two separate but oft allied forces and have been ever since.
@@Zakading Do you have a link to a photo for that? I've never seen any packaging referring to them as Knight Titans. They did use the same generic blister card backing as Titans for a while (which had a picture of a Reaver and just said Titans on it), but the label still referred to them by their Knight names, i.e. Paladin, Warden etc, and all the lore at the time differentiated them from Titans.
Every time I watch a UK wargamer make conversions, I know it's going to end up looking like some alt-history WW1. It looks fantastic and your voice is so smooth.
3:50 for locking a position, i use a tiny dab of bluetack in all of the the joints, i then isolate a given limb, mark tbe position, remove blue tack (low crumbs) and glue in place.
I managed to get one of these today, and I must say the piston-y bits are very well designed, wasn't sure how well it would translate from the resin models to this, but can comfortably say, they aren't a pain - in fact the model itself is a time consuming build but a satisfying one, very happy with how the build worked out - took about 2.5 hours - and I tend to build quite fast.
There are so many great bits to be found online, small armor plates for toes, larger for the sides and fronts of legs, extra leg extensions, not just longer but also an extra joint either way you want it, with their own fitting armor plates, torso extensions, shield, weapons, armor for arms, different heads and complete top armor plates that move the head to another location, ammo belts, new reactors and exhausts, so many awesome stuff, especially if you have a resin 3D printer yourself. If i could afford it i would go absolutely nuts with that.
One of your best builds of all time, however I'd say the barrells of the gun could use some soot effect at the ends, as if it accumulated when the weapon was being fired
Fantastic stuff! Love the panel and decal weathering in this build and the base work, love a detailed base. Generally really great work theming this build so it's unique but also matches the sponsor well.
so what i found works REALLY well for rust of larger metal parts is watering down the dirty down alot and using it like a wash. the DD that pools will create deeper rust but the stuff of the serface will make an almost soft rust glaze thats really good.
This looks really great! I’ve been reticent about doing a knight because I want to do a similar (ish) historical-inspired scheme, but thought the trim being the same colour would look a bit off. After seeing this, though, it seems like it can still be made to look great after all!
Pete, would you ever be down to see what you could do with the Pacifc Rim mechs? Seeing a kit - bashed, 40k lore accurate (maybe dreadnought style?) Gypsy Danger or Cherno Alpha could be cool. Or, maybe you could do a Tyranid version of some of the Kaijus from the movie
If you're looking for more vehicle or larger kitbashes to do, I would LOVE to see a kitbash of a dreadnought or even your take on improving the look of the Invictor warsuit!
I find your narration to be just the right mix of engaging and soothing to have in the background while I do other tasks; I find I often learn about some technique I want to give a try on my own figures; and of course, your final results are just pleasant to see. But god *damn* are your figures expensive at the end of the day! I'm sure that you get a lot of product supplied to you in exchange for featuring it here, so I expect there's practical limits on what you can do - but I'd personally enjoy an exploration of how to take more budget friendly models like, say, historical armoured vehicle kits or even dollar store toys, and and tweaking them to look like they belong on a 40K battlefield. Preferably in a way that doesn't assume the builder has a huge stash of leftover bits from years of building official models. :)
First of all, amazing job, leagues better than anything i could do. One thing that slightly bothered me when it came to the reveal was that the duck boards underneath where the right foot would have been were too intact. Maybe could have had them splintered up a bit/ crushed/ pushed into the ground? Currently it feels like some 2x4 got rolled over by a tank but actually looks like its fresh off the shelf.
What a great mini! I've been wanting to tackle a big project like this myself with a Drukhari inspired Wraithknight, but I'm not quite sure I'm up to it just yet. Keep doing what you're doing man!
I opted to put my lancer in a battlefield scenario as well for the base. I tried making him look as though he were walking through a battlefield with extra Aegis Defense Line walls in the middle and 3 Kriegers from the Kill Team box running underneath the Knight.
Here is the lore : Ultramarines had just left a battle but left two soldiers behind. For many days, those soldiers walked endlessly but fainted before finding help. Luckily, they were found by people who seemed like dragons but had a much more humanoid body shape
I see what you were going for with the trench. I half want to do the same thing, but have the knight striding over a much narrower trench and have some regular troops in the trench cheering. A while ago I actually wrote a short bit of fiction with this very scene: Knights defending a manufacturing plant, sallying across the perimeter trenches(manned by regular troops and foot retainers and lesser knights) to attack into the teeth of an enemy assault(under the cover of a bombardment of smoke shells) to wreck some mechanised heretics in close quarters. It was to counter the enemy tactic of advancing with chimeras and armigers to flush the imperial knights out with russes on overwatch, and knights in reserve. My logic is that a tank squadron concentrating fire is going to knock down knight after knight. By employing tactical smoke the knights and russes were cut off from supporting the lighter units, the chimera borne troops were left to blunder confused through the smoke, the crews having much less chance of success in the sudden and brief encounters with the enemy in the thick smoke, it was an environment that favored a fully integrated, piloted warsuit and of course the powerful weapons mounted on said warsuits, the chaos armigers left isolated in pockets to face loyalist armigers(yeah no 'war dawgs' this story predates chaos knights kit by like 5 years) working in groups alongside their knights, so despite being unbelieably hardy the chaos armigers really lost out. The chaos knights did reach the melee, but often had to contend with having to face a loyalist knight head on, and it's armigers coming around the sides, fighting as a single unit, so despite their disgusting resilience they did not fare well(having your legs cut out from behind you will knock you on you're ass, and from there they will just dismantle you).
Man I love it when mechs with all this Crazy ornamentation and visuals nonsense are converted into something that is more utilitarian, it makes them more immersive. I love to do this with my gundam and a drab green replacing that toy-like blue just gets me every time!
My instict would be to add pins around the hips and knees, to make up for the clipped tabs reducing the strength a bit. Does the model feel sturdy enough with just plastic glue holding the lower body together?
Love this scheme, even if a small part of my mind wants it to have gold trim! The construction tips are going to be excellent when I get my knight project going! Thanks! The scheme for the metal bodies is very similar to what I was thinking I'd do. Now I know it'll look great!
I always enjoy your conversions Pete, but this was a cracking conversion. It matches more how I would see knights being used and the pose is brilliantly realistic. You have also given me ideas for my Warhound titan. It would be great to see this theme extended to Imperial Guard regiment. I know Krieg are already along that theme, but they are very Germanic, whereas this knight was more themed along the lines of British / American.
