- This video takes place on the CRYSTAL CLEAR SPRING FED waters of the FRIO RIVER! This river winds its way through West Texas, and is loaded with all kinds of awesome fish!

Although I didn't fare too well on this trip, Nashon caught some good fish including one MONSTER, for the body of water we were fishing! This is the clearest water i have ever seen, and as you can tell, I had the time of my life!

If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

That place is even clearer than some of the trout streams I’ve been to! Hard fishing, but it can be worthwhile. Especially if you can see the hit.

TY! Believe it or not, thats a redbreast sunfish not a longear! Redbreasts actually have longer ‘ears’ than longears do lol

Ty PigPatrol there’s a simple test to tell when you’re in West Texas: drive west in July with the window rolled down. When you stop sweating, you’re there. (It’s actually not a joke - there’s an abrupt “dew point line” that usually sits west of Wichita Falls)

@@SkinnyWaterBoyzTV are the places you fish this clear ? they seem to be clear but not ultra clear like this. and the bass seem to be waaay bigger where you fish lol
@@TyPigPatrol it varies, i like to not go too much to those ultra clear waters cause you get too spoiled IMO haha so when i go its always a treat.

What was the temperature of the water
Somewhere between cold and damn cold... Trust me, I've been there. The river was named by the early Spanish explorers. As you might know, 'frio' = 'cold' in Spanish... I would guess water temp is about 40-45 F (5-7 C).

Challenge: there's a spot not completely different to this called St Edwards Park on Bull Creek in Austin. Just upstream of the damn, there's a couple monster largemouth chilling. I was only ever able to get one, night diving with a sling spear. Could never hook one, no matter what bait we used. It would be pretty fricken epic, to see you pull one out on a rod and reel. If anyone can, it's friggen Ty. Lol

Beautuful clear water. It appeared you were fishing the Ned way to fast. I’ve caught a ton of bass on a Z-man Ned, but you have to pull them slow and easy from my experience. I’m in Georgia though.

One thing I will tell you River fishing takes a lot of practice it's different than lakes and ponds the fish boots so easy when they say you you almost got a hideout like you're hunting for or make long cast and hope for the best but it's hard to spot fish in a stream that clear try fishing it when it's just a littleand I guarantee you I will have a lot better luck I'm no expert but I do a lot of small River and Creek fishing and I do some big River fishing on the upper James and the upper New River in Virginia and West Virginia border by far one of the best bait to fish tour live crawfishfor smallmouth especially and you will catch largemouth on them but the streams I fish are mostly smallmouth
That's the kind of water we have here on the Silver and Rainbow rivers here in Dunnellon Florida USA 🇺🇸! It's cold too I bet?

I think a little Mepps spinner would work great in those circumstances. I use to do a lot of creek walking looking for trout when I was younger, and the spinner would bring 'em out of their little hiding spots.
Next time you go here it'd be sick if you could keep a gopro strapped to your leg underwater or something because the camera quality under there is 👌🏻This is an awesome spot to fish

I meant to say in my other comment if you'll try fishing that stream when it's a little bit dingy an off-color I guarantee you'll have better look because those fish see you and it's hard to catch you have to hide from him and stay back

Dude what an awesome day and please bro don't dunk the reel on the water the oil and grease will sip out and contaminated the river, maybe one or two reels don't do much but on the long run it will affect the ecosystem

I never knew water that clear and cold existed in Texas. It looks like a Montana trout stream. I fish a freestone stream in the Sierra that is snow melt fed and it’s numbingly frigid but tons of fun to fish for trout and icicles. I really enjoyed this video. River wading is how I started fishing and it’s still my favorite. Brought back a lot of memories learning to fish with my dad.
I have fished those Colorado snow melt streams..... you just go numb the second you get in. Such beautiful scenery. Glad this video brought back memories!!

Great video man love the Clearwater my favorite type of fish in that Creek and small rivers you think the water's cold there come up to Virginia and fish some of the blue Ridge mountain streams and the Allegheny mountain streams they are freezing in July that's why I love to fish those rivers and streams and summer is so you can stay cool and enjoy good stuff love to see you do more ofit and I noticed you been changing your video apps to different things and I really like
those northern streams are so cold because they are literally snow runoff, right?

I love fly fishing little creeks like that. Those fish have never seen a lure in their lives. Usually not the biggest fish, but you can catch insane numbers of them.
