For a female to be kissed by Elvis Presley was an unforgettable experience and an honour, regardless of if she was married or single the kissing was done with respect. It was one way for Elvis to show love to his female fans and to give them an unforgettable gift. The husbands/boyfriends didn't mind because it made the women and ultimately them happy

Thank you!! I thought I was the only one. Every younger person who reacts to Elvis is always shocked at the kissing... I mean it's only a couple of tongues but mostly pecks. They're also shocked that he danced and gyrated, I'm concerned at how spoilt we were to have Elvis... In fact, I was only 1 year old when he died and I'd still take a kiss off him if he was 89 TODAY!!
He was the whole package, half the planet was after him. This is just a dip in the ocean. He played to approx 2.5 million physical people in his career. How many did he kiss?

Agreed.. I'm a 1972 model and this didn't shock me at all the first time I watched it, it just made me smile and feel good. This is LOVE. I've started to realise that generation MeToo are very, very different from us older models. I think it has gone a bit too far? The world has become a colder place.

elvis didn't push that man away, he would never treat someone like that
if you look closely he does shake his hand before moving past him
the guy even turns around to friends with a huge smile & gives 2 thumbs up because elvis did in fact shake his hand
you have to keep in mind elvis couldn't stop moving because if he stopped he would get mobbed, so it was important for him to keep moving
and if you watch closely you'll see while he's in the crowd he is not just kissing women he also shakes plenty of hands
elvis had a genuine connection with his fans that no other entertainer ever has :)

This was not normal back then but then again, Elvis was a phenom. Highest paid actor in Hollywood. Out of this world entertainer, singer. Larger than life person, in the Public eye.
People were not afraid. Only he could or would do this for his fans. It was respectful.
People loved him and he loved them too. God we miss him even to this day. 😢😊

  • @helentucker1001
    @helentucker1001 23 дні тому +14

Jay! 😂 You're so funny..I love you're honesty.. lol. Back then Elvis was huge. Around the world, not just the US. We didn't have social media where we could get the latest straight from our music idols or see them doing stuff. It was a dream to be able to get a glimpse of them. When they were playing somewhere those who were lucky enough to afford to go already felt they were living a dream. Any movie he made was a sellout and to see him on screen not just close our eyes and imagine him singing listening to a record was incredible. He was adored because he was so charismatic, handsome, funny, kind to any fan he met, very well-mannered, polite, he was generous to the point of giving his cars away to strangers who were struggling and ofcourse, so attractive to women. He just had something special. In some concerts still available to watch he'd wear silk scarves around his neck for a few minutes, wipe his face then hand them to women in the audience, one of his band mates would hand him another and he'd do the same until all were gone before the end of the show 😅 You see he was god-like in an era where rock n roll was born, and his style of singing and moving stirred up feelings that were until then kept inside and under control by strict home lives. These days young people have access to porn, drugs, alcohol and have lost respect for elders, police, neighbours, others.. social media fills up their time and has erased the ability to sit down and have conversations about meaningful stuff and give of themselves to the community. Back then times were more simple. To be able to see Elvis in the flesh and get a little kiss would've been enough joy to last a lifetime.

FYI to blow your mind even further....after all the kissing and the show Elvis, some members of his band and back up singers, buddies (Memphis Mafia), and often other musical stars appearing in Vegas at the same time would go up to Elvis' suite and for several hours sing gospel music to wind down. Elvis loved to prank The Righteous Brothers when they were on stage. James Brown was a close friend who often sang with Elvis and when Elvis died spent several hours alone with Elvis' coffin singing and praying before his funeral.

Fans considered it a big honor to get kissed by Elvis or for him to throw one of his scarves to them. As you'll note, the longer Elvis is on the floor, the longer the line gets for women to get a kiss from him. Elvis was a superstar; the likes of which we'd not seen before or since. My sister got a kiss from Elvis & swore she'd never wash her face again. The kisses were Elvis's way to say 'thank you' to his fans; he knew how much it meant to them.

I know it's weird to think of women your grandmother's age, even great grandmother's age acting like that! The Beatles...you should look up "Beatlemania". I graduated in 1985 & I'm happy I grew up in that era- it was so much fun. Everyone today is chained to their phone. It seems like there are too many kids today who are more angry. I think a lot of it is that we got to be kids and not have to make adult decisions...like deciding what my gender was before I even hit puberty. I hope I don't offend anyone, but to me, that's an adult decision.

You said it's not normal. I hear you, because today it would not be considered normal, but honestly, I think it's very normal, and I actually feel today's society and their way of thinking is not normal.
Really think about it, what Elvis is doing here is absolutely normal, and innocent. All he is doing is showing his fans how much he loves and appreciates them, and they are more than willing to get that kiss from Elvis.
Honestly, I think a lot of the men would have kissed him too if it were socially acceptable back then. 😂
I actually wish that it was still like this, and that people could express their love for others by giving them a peck on the lips without being canceled or accused of sexual harassment. Today's way of thinking is actually not normal. 😂
Have a great day and thank you for continuing on your Elvis journey.

Agree with you. Also it has to be said that Elvis couldn't step foot outside in public without riots breaking out. So this was a "safe space" for him to interact with his fans and give them something back.
Who wouldn't want that. The husband's are the reality but Elvis was the fantasy, he was carrying out a public service 😂

He was one of a kind. He loved his fans because unlike the so called stars today he knew who was buying his records and tickets and he wanted to show his gratitude.
Artist today show no respect or gratitude to their fans. Don’t make eye contact or charging for autographs, or they have security to assault the fan who invaded their space.
I would have waited in a 3 mile line during a hurricane in August Florida heat just to shake his hand. Just imagine for a kiss. 💋 love 💕

I'm a Gen X.. never would happen in my era.. but Elvis was a whole different era.. it happened lol.. Wish I had been old enough to get a kiss from Elvis.. His voice alone melts me.

😂😂😂😂😂 i luv your reaction... Yes common for Elvis. Everyone loved him ... He definitely shocked the older generations ...this predated the panty throwing trend in the 70s & 80s. The start of the sexual revolution. This was probably a concert on valentine's day❤

At that time only 2 men could get away with that. Elvis and Tom Jones. 😂
Women lined up at the front of the stage during his concerts to get a kiss.

He was the King for a reason. The kisses were just a perk of the job. And, it was a lot more innocent of a time. Just a kiss and a memory. Not weird at all - just simple love. Nowadays there’s way too much censorship and judgement. Back in the 50’s - 90’s things were so much easier and laid back.

Every woman wanted to kiss him. Some women who saw him with their man, kissed him. Their men didn’t have a problem with it because they knew it would be a memory their wife or girlfriend would cherish forever! I’m sure many guys would have loved to have kissed him but in those days no guy would do it in public. LOL 😅

Hahahahahaha no it was not “the culture“ at that time, you’re just watching Elvis Presley. There’s a reason people always said that every woman wanted him and every man wanted to be him. BTW when he wiped his chest with that scarf and gave it to the woman, he did that often because people wanted his sweat. Yes, you read that correctly, they wanted his SWEAT. That’s how amazing and influential Elvis Presley was to popular culture. He was a musical prodigy but that talent was inside the body of an insanely handsome, smooth man who sincerely loved his fans.
