Why is the video in mirror image? When you know the film so well and the image is reversed, it spoils the enjoyment somewhat. Otherwise your reaction was very good. Try and sort that out and you will do well.

Reversing the video helps to keep their reaction videos from being messed with due to copyright. Doing reaction content is a minefield when dealing with YT and the way they so often do not recognize or allow fair use.
Also...you guys (Movie Night Reaction) should really look at Robert Zemeckis' filmography. Between directing, writing, and producing, he has give us some of the most incredible movies that have ever been made. Obviously, Forrest Gump is an incredible classic, but Zemeckis also directed and wrote or co-wrote all of the Back to the Future movies, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cast Away (also with Tom Hanks), Contact, The Polar Express, and Death Becomes Her...among many others.
And that does not even include any of the TV programs he has credits for, not to mention all the movies that he helped to get made and got some kind of Producer credit for...the man has had one of the greatest careers in Hollywood history.

I'm an Alabamian, and I attended law school at Forrest's alma mater, the University of Alabama. I was really impressed with your knowledge of history. I thought I might share some tidbits that would likely be unfamiliar to those who aren't hard-core Alabama history nerds.
Alabama Governor Wallace was a fascinating and consequential figure from Alabama and US history. I often reflect on the significance of his political career as I try to understand the madness of our current political moment. I actually met Wallace outside the state capitol in the summer of 1994, just before my senior year of high school. He died just four years later during my senior year of college. My roommate and I drove down to Montgomery as he lay in state under the capitol dome. The most lasting image of Wallace in the public imagination is his infamous "Stand in the Schoolhouse Door" when he attempted to prevent the registration of the first black students ever admitted to the University of Alabama in 1963, as depicted in the film.
People forget that Wallace had a reputation for showing no racial favoritism as a state judge. Not only that, he was the first Alabama judge to buck the custom of calling black attorneys by their first names (e.g. "Jimmy") and only white attorneys by their surnames (e.g. "Mr. Johnson"). The disrespect...but Wallace would have none of it. He treated all the litigants and representatives in his courtroom with professionalism and courtesy. He ran for governor for the first time in 1958 as a "race liberal" in the mold of his mentor, outgoing progressive Governor Big Jim Folsom.
He lost the election to the KKK-endorsed candidate, John Patterson. Wallace said that Patterson had "out-n**gerred" him, which he vowed never to let happen again. From then on, he made it a point to be the most rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth segregationist in every election he stood for. He won the 1962 election, setting the stage for his political theatre in 1963 which ended when JFK nationalized the Alabama Guard to ensure the students' safety and the state's compliance with the court order mandating racial integration at the University. Wallace discovered that, when it came to empty, symbolic political gestures, a large swath of the Alabama electorate ate it up.
Barred by the Alabama constitution from seeking reelection in 1966, he ran his wife Lurleen instead. "Vote for Lurleen, but let George do it" was one of her campaign slogans. She trounced all opposition. Unbeknownst to the public and even Lurleen herself, she was dying of cancer. Wallace withheld the diagnosis from her to ensure that she stayed in the race and kept campaigning. She later died in office.
Controlling the governorship through Lurleen afforded Wallace a platform to run for president in 1968 as a third-party candidate. He won several Southern states over both the Democratic and Republican nominees. It was the best showing of any third-party presidential candidate in history, except for Teddy Roosevelt's attempt to return to the White House in 1912. In the meantime, he managed to amend the Alabama constitution so that gubernatorial candidates who had previously been limited to one term in office would thereafter be limited to no more than two CONSECUTIVE terms. This amendment made possible his successful campaign for reelection in 1970, followed by his fateful run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1972. He won the Deep South primaries, as expected. He then won the primaries in Maryland (in the upper South) and Michigan (in the upper Midwest). These victories stunned the nation by demonstrating that his message could also appeal to working-class white voters outside the South---the same constituency that would be activated by Trump in 2016. Many feared that Wallace was mounting a hostile takeover of the national Democratic party. In extremely short order, someone put a bullet in him that ended his campaign and left him paralyzed and in pain for the remaining 26 years of his life. Nevertheless, he ran successfully for reelection to the governorship in 1974.
Oftentimes, campaigns ask voters to peer into the hearts of candidates to judge whether they are honest or racist, communist or fascist, or whatever. I think that's pretty pointless exercise most of the time. I take at face value that Wallace was the man Big Jim thought he was in 1958, the man black attorneys remembered as the first Alabama judge to treat them as equal to white colleagues in every way. I don't say that to defend him. In many ways, espousing racist sentiments not out of sincere belief but rather as a cynical, calculated, and craven rabble-rousing tactic is even more despicable. In so doing, he did great harm to the black people of our state and nation. That's racism to me, regardless of how he actually felt in his heart of hearts.
The South began switching from Democratic to Republican after passage of civil rights legislation under Johnson, JFK's Democratic successor. Southern states began to elect Republican governors, senators, and representatives throughout the 1960s and 1970s. With Wallace remaining a Democrat throughout his time in office, and with Wallace (or his wife) being elected governor in '62, '66, '70, and '74, Alabama was the last state to make the switch.
Forced by the state constitution to sit out the 1978 election, Wallace ran for governor for the final time in 1982. This campaign was different. Black voters had become a key Democratic constituency during the party switch. Wallace humbled himself, went before black voters and black churches, admitted his wrongdoing, acknowledged the harm he had caused, begged for forgiveness, and asked for one more chance to be a governor for all Alabamians. And so the people, including the majority of black people, sent him one last time to Montgomery, the city where the Confederacy was first established---and, not coincidentally, the city where Rev. King rose to prominence as the voice of the national conscience.

    1. The music royalties alone must have cost a small fortune🤑🤑
    2. Kurt Russell did the voice for Elvis.
    3. IRL Sally Fields is only 10 years older than Tom Hanks.
    4. Having gotten his degree Forrest could have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. His ASVAB kills that.
    5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around.
    6. Normally an enlisted Army person would be fully aware of his/her separation date.
    5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😈
    8. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony.
    9. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he loses his.
    10. At the rally Forrest says, "There is only one thing I can say about the war in Vietnam. In Vietnam, sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that."
    11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking.
    12. Bubba's not a small dude. Forrest carried him with a bullet in his ass.😲
    13. "Sometimes I guess there're just aren't enough rocks"🥺
    14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis.🤩
    15. Often when he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that"
16 Keep in mind if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey.

Every reactor is so taken aback by Forrest's namesake, General Nathan Bedford Forrest, that everyone seems to overlook the very next line after Forrest says "That's where I get my name." He immediately explains that his Momma named him that to remind Forrest that (3:37) "sometimes we do things that, well.. just don't make no sense." She (Momma) wanted to impart on Forrest a life-long lesson that people will often do things that make no sense, and not every action has a cause or a reason.

It's funny how differently some men and women see this movie, to me Forest is the epitome of a simp and this movie should be shown to every male 5'7 and below on his 16th birthday as a warning. Jenny is manipulative, she often returns to Forrest when she is in need of security but leaves again when she feels better or when she is faced with the realities of her life, taking advantage of Forest's unconditional love. Fundamentally Forrest and Jenny are different in their life choices and values. Forrest embodies innocence and straightforwardness, while Jenny's life is marked by chaos, complexity and a super high body count. Forrest consistently expresses his love for Jenny, witch she often fails to reciprocate in a meaningful way until the very end of the film when she is in her 40's dying of Hepatitis and has a kid that might not be Forests. 38:31 Jenny deserves to be treated better yes but that doesn't mean she deserves Forest, Forrest deserves someone who can fully appreciate and return his love without hesitation or doubt. Forest shows significant personal growth and resilience throughout the film. In contrast, Jenny's journey is fraught with setbacks and unresolved issues, Forrest deserves a partner who has also achieved a level of personal growth and stability, trauma is an explanation for Jenny's decisions but not an excuse.

My childhood sweetheart made love to me the last week of her life in 1969. We were both very young. I was 11 and she was 10. Fifth graders in New Iberia, LA. Friday that week we were saying goodbye to one another after school while we were waiting for our Mom's. Before getting in her mother's car she told me; "I'm gonna try to keep Daddy off me." I was clueless. No idea what she was talking about. Next night her father drove her mother, her, her baby sister, her two brothers, and himself off an interstate overpass near Crowley. All 6 drown in 20 ft. of bayou water. No one has any idea the suffering it has caused me all my life. I am praying for you. You have my sympathy.

It is always interesting to see a younger generation see this movie. 1How many of the historical people and situations will they recognize or even know?
Rich Little, the famous impersonator, did most of the voices for the historical characters not played by an actor, where they used real footage.

It's fascinating to see how history resonates differently with each generation! We not the best when recognizing historical figures, but I think we did decent. I was very impressed with how well they incorporated Forrest into the storyline of these figures and how well it flowed. Excellent movie! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

My mom seriously looked exactly like Sally Field in this when we were kids. It freaked us out. We were convinced she had a secret movie career. I sincerely cried when she died, every time. That's all I have to say about that...Tom Hanks is absolutely brilliant, even when playing a local idiot. I love when LT. Dan comes with his "magic legs" made from the same material as the space shuttle to his wedding...the next year they were in Apollo 13th together! One of the most clever, hilarious, heartfelt films ever.

17:07 most true statement of that war. Alot of soldiers lost their feet or passed away from foot infections. But if the US wouldn't had made rain over there it wouldn't had rained for almost 11 months. And if the US would had stayed out of that conflict there wouldn't bad any ded Americans

You think he lived a full life in the movie lol? You guys should read / listen to the book! It’s crazy all the things they left out. The astronaut reference is appropriate for that reason for one. Also, it’s ironic that they both play astronauts in the Ron Howard movie “Apollo 13” which is based on a couple of books as well. One being “Failure is not an option” by retired NASA flight director Gene Kranz. That book is amazing if you like space flight in general but a masterpiece if you want inside stories of NASA from right after they start till the early space shuttle days. The other book is written by astronaut Jim Lovell and a co-writer. Its original title was “Lost Moon” and then rereleased on the anniversary of the mission as simply “Apollo 13”. Again, great book!
If y’all haven’t done the movie, you should. I personally place it right up there with Forrest Gump. It grips you early on and the tension doesn’t release till the very end. If you ever watch it, rewatch it twice. First with the normal audio, second with the audio commentary from Jim Lovell and his wife Marilyn. Third with audio commentary from the director Ron Howard (a.k.a. Opie Taylor from the Andy Griffith show and Ritchie Cunningham from Happy Days, both being some of the best TV series ever, along side Bewitched!)
Speaking of Ron Howard, and considering you mentioned watching the sixth sense, there’s another movie you need to watch. Ron Howard’s daughter place the lead role in my second favorite M. Knight Shyamalon movie “the Village”. Just like the rest of his movies, there are twists you get blind sided by! Just like most of his others there’s a key to know you’re getting a clue. Whenever you see the color red used predominately in a shot….theres a clue in that scene. Anyway, very few people have reacted to it on here by comparison to the sixth sense. You guys could be one of the few to review it and draw a good amount of traffic I imagine.
Sorry if you’ve already done both or either. I just found your channel tonight so I’m not sure of all you done so far. Glad I found the channel though, I liked and subbed too!

In the Vietnam war the US was there to help our ally - South Vietnam. There were 2 enemies - the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and the Viet Cong. The Viet Cong wore civilian clothes and were essentially terrorists in South Vietnam that sided with North Vietnam. The US military called the Viet Cong - 'the V-C' or phonetically 'Victor-Charlie".....or just 'Charlie' for short.
