Hey, I liked this vid....but now i have a question....does any of this pertain to battlenet? And is LK even worth running on battlenet, specifically sparkly chests. Ive never seen one in LK before...
I recently got into playing pluggy was a big D2 newbie. Watching all these guides trying to see what I can do to optimize my runs/mfing and I just realized that I probably have to godliest LK map you can get. I got it on my 3rd roll or so too. Been extraordinarily lucky 4 Ohms and 1 Sur within less than a 1000 runs - probably about 500. Also found tyraels might :) All that within less than a week in - thanks for the videos - truly bringing a lot of joy and fantastic content that motivates ppl to get (back) into the game and "study" it a bit more too!
Thank you so much for this! I recently got back into Diablo 2 after about fifteen years and had no idea things like this could be done. Within a dozen attempts I got a layout in Hell with the two campfires right by the waypoint and I’m already finding runes far faster than I had been.
04:35 - he makes a mistake here which can confuse you: He says "to skip running the entire LOWER Kurast Dock" When in fact he means "to skip running the entire KURAST DOCKS", i.e. the town.
After about an hour of rolling for a decent LK map I got something amazing. Two campfires 1 Campfire is 1 Teleport. The other Campfire is 3 Teleports away. The 1st Campfire top right super chest is a Teleport away from the 2nd top left Campfire. About 16 Teleports per run.
I think a quick note about cheap 200 FCR sorc gear would help. Arachnid mesh can be hard to find, but you can get to 200 fcr with a crafted caster belt. Here's a sample set up. Weapon: Wizard Spike(so much res) / Suicide Branch; 50 FCR Gloves: Magefist / Trangs Gloves; 20 FCR Armor: Skin of the Vipermagi; 30 FCR Helm: 20 FCR circlet Rings: 10 fcr each That's 140 FCR base. Then, with good enough rolls, you can get 60 more with a combination of Spirit Shield, crafted caster amulet and caster belt. Boots are whatever. I like Aldur's boots because the fire res compliments the resistances of spirit nicely, the 40% FRW is a marginal speed boost for farming, and extra life is good because dying will really slow down the farming. Oh, and it is possible to get 200 FCR without spirit, but then Arachnid mesh is necessary. Just in case anyone is playing vanilla single player.
Did some math out of curiosity using this video and your 10k lower kurast runs video and got this for runs per rune: your runs vs calculated odds based on 63536 patterns and 6 chests per run: pul 17 =588 993 um 8 =1250 1214 mal 10 =1000 728 ist 5 =2000 1560 gul 10 =1000 993 vex 5 =2000 1821 ohm 4 =2500 2185 lo 2 =5000 5461 sur 6 =1667 993 ber 0 =n/a 3641 Real question is what are the odds you missed some runes because those huge chest drops are annoyingly large due to not being able to see all the drops at once and tons of piles of gold and potions. Like how many of those drop patterns for high runes are patterns that have enough items to hide the rune? You got a bit unlucky not finding any Ber runes and on number of Sur runes.
If u have the time to pop everything in Lower Kurast on single player or battle.net i would do so most the high runes I get are not even from the super chests but come from stashes corpses etc same goes for charms jewels and occasionally gear that is of some value for example socketed or superior armors and weapons. but as stated in the video you can just focus on the super chests if you want to be way more efficient. As for me ill be making a sorceress this next ladder reset and will be farming lower kurast through too travincal for all the chests bodies stashes etc.
I've been playing a lot of pluggy for the first time. I used this video to find a 10/10 two fire map. The two fires and way point are all beside each other. No Bers yet though.

Been doing this using 2 computers and no plugy mod. Both computers use the same diablo install and play in single player mode. I use the "other multiplayer" "TCP / IP" options to mule. 1 computer hosts the mule game the other is the main account. I imagine I could 1/2 and half those roles on the 2 computers. 1 odd upside is the maps are all the same between mule sessions. So after run 1 of the maps, the paths to bosses are pre-mapped in the next sessions. "have to stick to the same mode though". The down side is of course, no use of ladder rune words, the improved stash, and other ladder play perks like bigger bosses. [paragraph below isn't about the "same map between games" mentioned above] Been reluctant to do the plugy gaming. Haven't seen any video posted by it's players extolling "safe files" for use. So I assume it's the risk of using the plugy mods. Certainly I've seen video's on get this here, install it like this. But haven't noted any of the videos saying. "I found safe files here", "I've never had an issue here", or similar quotes to the files being pointed at. Even better still would be a consensus by plugy players on where to get safe files. Any tips of that nature would be welcome from the host.
Thanks a bunch for this video. I have been playing on and off for nearly 20 years (before LOD expansion). Just started doing these runs on p7 a couple of days ago and already have Mal, 2 gul, vex, Lo, and sur. My map is godly, but I dont use a sorc. I have necro with 40 faster run walk. Run time about 1 min. Use pindle to raise skelly and just run it.
Pro tip, if you are running Plugy, get a loot filter, it really makes it easier to spot those runes as it filters out a lot of the useless items dropping from the chests. Dbrunski has a video about loot filters as well so go ahead 😁
Your lk videos inspired me to spend some time doing them. I have done several hundred runs, was it worth it for me? YES. I found a sur, a gul, vex, ist, mal, um, lots of lems, and a few good set and unique items. I didn't know two campfires can spawn, first thing I will load some new maps until I find a double. I consider myself a pro d2 player. I play hc only, I've played for many years but I honestly have never been the type of player that pays mind to extreme detail, like looking for the perfect hell difficulty map or paying attention to specific stats or rolls, or basing my play time on efficiency ..im the kind of player that just plays if that makes sense. This time around I have stood firm in my personal goal to NOT cheat, it IS single player after all. Last year when I came back to d2 I ended up duping items, runes, copy and pasting game files to cheat. Using atma for much of it. But no more, and it's much better because I got bored quick last time around with cheat runes I made duping via atma. Now my items, atma-banked runes, and runewords are legit! It felt good to beat hell on hardcore legit, i did a lot of mf for the gear needed to do so every milestone i got to. I did normal mephy runs at first, then normal baal runs for gear to start nightmare (vipermagi !!) , then nm mephy where i found my occulus, ready to start hell! Then i spent a long while doing hell andy , countess, and mephy where i found some of my end game gear like shako until i was ready to finish hell.
Farming back then was for chumps. We installed keyloggers on our computer lab at our high school and hacked all their accounts and traded for SoJs and high runes. lol.
I'm playing D2R SP (after months playing only in Bnet) and finally reached Lower Kurast in Hell with my sorc. I rolled the map a couple of times and find a good map there. Now the real HR farm begins! xD
I WATCH ADS FOR DBRUNSKI!!! Ive never seen the actual rune patterns before so that is new information for me. No wonder Sur runes drop the most. I use my pally to run LK and i run the docks with vigor. I dont just search for runes, i pick up all charms, druid helms, rings and ammys. LK might be decent on BNET if you do them during baal runs. P8 count. you wont get realm down and you can get the last few waves and baal for XP. Another great video dude
I watched this video a few times over the last few years to keep me inspired when LK starts dragging. I play Super Casually (this isn't my main game, or even my secondary game) but my PLUGY is finally coming together for me. Guess I just wanted to say thanks, and for any disheartened farmers lurking out there, just remember: Dreams do come true.
i know MF doesnt matter for runes, but does it matter for charms? you can get a lot of skillers grand charms on LK super chests.. and i know for a fact that gold find does work on those chests.. so my guess is that MF works for charms too, does anyone know? i feel like i get more charms with MF.. not sure tho

I watched the video, but perhaps I just missed it: Why can you not just save and exit after opening the final chest in LK? That would respawn you at the Act 3 docks, right, then you could just waypoint back to LK? Why do you have to take the WP to Act 4 before saving/exiting? Edit: found my answer at 4:35
Amazing video. By the way, if you`re farming LK on a sorc, use telekinesis to open chests from the middle of the huts and to activate wps, it`s even faster.

Great Video! Even some things i didn´t know like the patterns. Maybe include little tips in there e.G. "get enought keys beforehand" I think those small tipps are what can make the diffrence in a video. great Video overall and I will farm some myself now.

You should talk about weapon and armor rack runs too, you look for exceptional or elite versions of the base you want to farm and farm that map like crazy. Ive never encountered a thresher one but im going to start rerolling racks again since i got my eth cv today, i also think your map seed is relevant to the loot tables for the drops from the superchests too since ive found like 5 Lo's and 1 Sur which seems crazy looking at the pattern drop lists for high runes, unless i just have some absurd luck.
There's one single player specific quirk to LK runs: loot tables seem to be connected to map seed. I noticed armor and weapon racks kept giving me same 4-5 item bases. So I turned on rerolling maps every game until I got white monarch from one armor rack and then I turned rerolling off. And since that I got Monarchs regularly. Quick google confirmed that.
@@The_Aleph_Null I don't think so. If you notice, the chest always drop all blue or all yellow. The way this is rolled is independent of MF, I believe, and uniques can't drop from super chests.
In my honest opinion and personal experience: Indeed this is the fasted area to farm high runes, as far as, you play on players 7 or 8, you run very fast on main super chests and sorounding camp fire chests and is important not to loose time by fighting as this seems to lower the drop chances. For me best high runes where droped from surounding smaller chests, tree logs, etc.
I just rolled a pretty sick Lower Kurast map on the 2nd try, 2 campfires very close to the town portal. One is right next to it and the other one is almost as close.
The first time I tried this I did about 1500 runs with nothing better than Gul. Then I accidentally selected nightmare and had to reset my map seed. With the new map I got 2 Sur within a few hours of playing. Maybe the map seed affects which drop patterns are available.
Hey buddy! You have inspired me to get back into D2! Just got accidentally banned from bnet because of VPN so I downloaded PlugY to hop back on for now. :) Had a quick question: what do you mean by "roll" a map?
In solo mode, you can change the map by changing difficulty. The game reroll all the maps after you changed difficulty. So just make a game in hell, if it's not what you want go in nightmare or normal and come back in hell to see if the map is better.
Great info! I'm about 100 runs in! It's fun so far, I have an armor rack that consistently drops pally shields, I've gotten a couple decent high res ones, but mostly 8 res all. Another drops a shako like a quarter of the time, so I got like 300 mf to try and drop Harley! I'd re-roll if it weren't for that one shako rack, but it's a decent map so I'll stick it out for a few days I think.
It is nice guide for HR in LK, but what are the chances of getting unique/set? Is there a chance of getting something or is it very limited "choice of possible drops?" By watching you guys D2 players it makes me want to get back playing it too actually.
While I appreciate the video for what it is - useful source of information - what exactly is the point of undergoing this kind of grind in single player game?
What version is this based on? And can MF adversely effect drops? I understand probability don't guarantee drop rates, but I've done 600 runs and the highest rune I've come across is Lum. (1.14d, 146%MF). Video was crazy helpful to see though!
just type /players x with x=1 to 8, know that this works in pairs for drop rate, so players 1 and players 2 will be the same, 3 and 4 are the same, 5 and 6 are the same, and 7 and 8 are the same
I've read so much about LK runs but NEVER knew which huts had the chest. Pointing out the campfires blew my mind! I found 2 right after learning what to look for. Thank you. Quick question, how do you have SoJ sold to merchants? Have you found over 2k SoJs and sold them? I thought D clone was only a Bnet thing
That's from Plugy mod, which enable the Uber bosses on single player also the diablo clone. There are a few more really nice stuff about that mod for single player like the shared stash and the infinity amount of pages you have for items/misc. Enjoy.
This doesn't relate to your video, but I just found a 2sorc 30frw 20fcr 35life circlet. I wish it would have rolled os. But, daymn! Best circlet I have ever found.
I found a really good seed that spawns the hut of the first campfire literally next to the hut of the second campfire. I'm gonna try running with MF now since I also need other items.
You will get more drops per run if you clear the map, but less hi runes over time because the super chests are more efficient. Really all depends on what you're going for. Ultimately, the best advice is just to play a lot. That is the #1 way to increase your odds of finding good things
The only thing missing here are the odds. With 11 Sur patterns out of 65k, that gives us a chance of 1/6k to roll Sur. With 6 chests per game, that should be about one Sur per 1k runs. Having ran LK so many times, could you put that into a time perspective?
A little late response but here you go fam. My 105 FCR sorc with a godlike map roll can do the run in about 25 seconds only going for the superchests. If I pop hollow logs, chests, racks and bodies too, it's around 40. Add 10 seconds for save and exit and relog, and you're looking at roughly 10 or 14 hours per 1k runs.
My question maybe stupid, but: If I enter LK on p1, clear area and then set p7, will chest patterns be set to p7 as well? I'm asking because enemies are not instantly boosted by p8 and I don't remember higher rune being dropped from chests than Pul. And I'm something above noob seeing how much do you know about D2.

I avoid having any music playing when doing these runs because I'm scared of missing the sound of a rune dropping.

My advice for LK on bnet: open EVERYTHING there in full games, not just the super chests. There is probably like 100 containers in the whole area.
Yep. I found a shako in a basket in LK on bnet.
When you spend a week finding high runes for infinity, but spend a month looking for the base.

To avoid realm down you could probably include a Countess run (and maybe Eldritch too,) seems like it’d be efficient to farm runes/stuff.

But you could join public baalruns and whilst the Host teleports to the throneroom, you could clear LK, right?

Great Video! Even some things i didn´t know like the patterns. Maybe include little tips in there e.G. "get enought keys beforehand" I think those small tipps are what can make the diffrence in a video. great Video overall and I will farm some myself now.

You should talk about weapon and armor rack runs too, you look for exceptional or elite versions of the base you want to farm and farm that map like crazy. Ive never encountered a thresher one but im going to start rerolling racks again since i got my eth cv today, i also think your map seed is relevant to the loot tables for the drops from the superchests too since ive found like 5 Lo's and 1 Sur which seems crazy looking at the pattern drop lists for high runes, unless i just have some absurd luck.
There's one single player specific quirk to LK runs: loot tables seem to be connected to map seed. I noticed armor and weapon racks kept giving me same 4-5 item bases. So I turned on rerolling maps every game until I got white monarch from one armor rack and then I turned rerolling off. And since that I got Monarchs regularly. Quick google confirmed that.
Question, if MF doesn't affect the rune drops at all, then wouldn't it be better to minimize MF so chests don't frop a bizillion trillion items?

@@The_Aleph_Null I don't think so. If you notice, the chest always drop all blue or all yellow. The way this is rolled is independent of MF, I believe, and uniques can't drop from super chests.
I reloaded d2 because of your videos. I’m doing LK Runs found my first Ber yesterday and my second one today lol and I’ve yet to find an Um rune yet

In my honest opinion and personal experience: Indeed this is the fasted area to farm high runes, as far as, you play on players 7 or 8, you run very fast on main super chests and sorounding camp fire chests and is important not to loose time by fighting as this seems to lower the drop chances. For me best high runes where droped from surounding smaller chests, tree logs, etc.
My current map is even better than the 10/10. Just got my first Sur rune on my grind for the first enigma. keep up the good work dbrunski.

I just rolled a pretty sick Lower Kurast map on the 2nd try, 2 campfires very close to the town portal. One is right next to it and the other one is almost as close.
The first time I tried this I did about 1500 runs with nothing better than Gul. Then I accidentally selected nightmare and had to reset my map seed. With the new map I got 2 Sur within a few hours of playing. Maybe the map seed affects which drop patterns are available.

Hey buddy! You have inspired me to get back into D2! Just got accidentally banned from bnet because of VPN so I downloaded PlugY to hop back on for now. :) Had a quick question: what do you mean by "roll" a map?
In solo mode, you can change the map by changing difficulty. The game reroll all the maps after you changed difficulty. So just make a game in hell, if it's not what you want go in nightmare or normal and come back in hell to see if the map is better.

Great info! I'm about 100 runs in! It's fun so far, I have an armor rack that consistently drops pally shields, I've gotten a couple decent high res ones, but mostly 8 res all. Another drops a shako like a quarter of the time, so I got like 300 mf to try and drop Harley! I'd re-roll if it weren't for that one shako rack, but it's a decent map so I'll stick it out for a few days I think.

It is nice guide for HR in LK, but what are the chances of getting unique/set? Is there a chance of getting something or is it very limited "choice of possible drops?" By watching you guys D2 players it makes me want to get back playing it too actually.
the Superchests themselves can not drop unique items, only magic or rare, the other popables and monsters can

What version is this based on? And can MF adversely effect drops? I understand probability don't guarantee drop rates, but I've done 600 runs and the highest rune I've come across is Lum. (1.14d, 146%MF). Video was crazy helpful to see though!

just type /players x with x=1 to 8, know that this works in pairs for drop rate, so players 1 and players 2 will be the same, 3 and 4 are the same, 5 and 6 are the same, and 7 and 8 are the same

I've read so much about LK runs but NEVER knew which huts had the chest. Pointing out the campfires blew my mind! I found 2 right after learning what to look for. Thank you.
Quick question, how do you have SoJ sold to merchants? Have you found over 2k SoJs and sold them? I thought D clone was only a Bnet thing
That's from Plugy mod, which enable the Uber bosses on single player also the diablo clone. There are a few more really nice stuff about that mod for single player like the shared stash and the infinity amount of pages you have for items/misc. Enjoy.

I found a really good seed that spawns the hut of the first campfire literally next to the hut of the second campfire.
I'm gonna try running with MF now since I also need other items.

Recently I found an SOJ and Ohm from LK but not the super cheats, just random skeletons etc. I now find it extremely hard not to clear the map...!
You will get more drops per run if you clear the map, but less hi runes over time because the super chests are more efficient. Really all depends on what you're going for. Ultimately, the best advice is just to play a lot. That is the #1 way to increase your odds of finding good things

Could you show an example of a budget fcr sorc setup for teleporting?
The only thing missing here are the odds. With 11 Sur patterns out of 65k, that gives us a chance of 1/6k to roll Sur. With 6 chests per game, that should be about one Sur per 1k runs. Having ran LK so many times, could you put that into a time perspective?
A little late response but here you go fam. My 105 FCR sorc with a godlike map roll can do the run in about 25 seconds only going for the superchests. If I pop hollow logs, chests, racks and bodies too, it's around 40. Add 10 seconds for save and exit and relog, and you're looking at roughly 10 or 14 hours per 1k runs.

With long load times in d2r, I wonder if just leaving game (in act 3) is quicker now as long as you have high runwalk?
My question maybe stupid, but:
If I enter LK on p1, clear area and then set p7, will chest patterns be set to p7 as well? I'm asking because enemies are not instantly boosted by p8 and I don't remember higher rune being dropped from chests than Pul. And I'm something above noob seeing how much do you know about D2.
