The primers are actually very different and are to be used with different foundations.
Tom Ford is a water based primer and is intended to be used with water based foundations.
Hourglass is a silicone based primer and is intended to be used with a silicone based foundation.
So, it is not a surprise to learn that the TF primer performed the best - because the Chanel No.1 foundation is water based. Therefore, they work perfectly together.
The HG primer will,perform brilliantly under a silicone based foundation.

Hey Chrissy. I read the ingredients and they both have water and dimethicone as their first two ingredients, which is water and silicone, which is why i thought they would be similar in their performance. Tom ford has water first and second dimethicone, and hourglass has first dimethicone and then water. I didn’t think they would react that differently since they both contain a lot of silicone in it. You may know more about how these are combined and how they react? Would love to get more knowledge about this!❤️

As ingredient lists are presented in the format of "most to least", it's the quantity of the first ingredient in each primer that is the "deciding" factor.
So, TF could have 65% water and 20% dimethicone whereas HG could have 60% dimethicone and 22% water.
I wish there was a law that demanded that the first four "products" in an ingredient list, must show their percentages within that formula. xxx

I think both sides looked really pretty, but to me The Hourglass looked smoother. But that's under the lights, through your camera, and into my crappy phone. LOL. But seriously, both look gorgeous, and your eye look is stunning!

They both are amazing primers! The TF is more matte and keeps oils off for longer!! I do love the Hourglass also, i think with a more matte foundation I would not use the TF!

Hi Tania,I find very interesting what Chrissy Moss is adding to the comparison.It is important to read the label on our products before using and mixing with others.It makes sense of course and may be fundamental for their performance.I never really paid attention before,I will now… especially for the primer and foundation.We probably do need one of each like Chrissy explain…❤️
Yes, she made a good point. I read the ingredients ( i usually do), and they both contain water and silicone as their first two ingredients. Tom ford has water first and hourglass has silicone. My family has been glued to the tv as well. This is actually the first UA-cam video I’ve watched. Our prayers go out to Ukrainian people. I think it is wonderful you brought it up and shared your thoughts and also that you gave us a small break from a heart heavy time.
I worked in the makeup industry for many years. I don’t think this is a water based primer. Water based products don’t tend to have silicones in the ingredients at all or they are in minute amounts at the bottom of the ingredient list. The TF primer has many silicones listed at the top of the ingredient list (Dimethicone, Methicone, trimethicone etc). It was also formulated to work with the foundation of the same name which also includes silicones at the top of the ingredient list. A water based primer has ingredients for example like the Milk Makeup hydro grip primer which is water based. The new Kosas foundation is silicone free, so that’s an ingredient list to look at as well. That’s my 2 cents.
I was really looking forward to your review. The HG didn’t work for me. It was ok, but the blur wasn’t enough. Despite the steep TF price tag I want it. 😂
The Tom Ford primer is one of the few that give me amazing blur and it is not drying!! I agree with you on the primer. I used the tom ford with many foundations and it has worked so well for me with all of them!
It is still hard for me to believe what is happening in the world.. I have been glued go my phone and TV praying something will change ..

@@TaniaBWells It has gotten worse but nothing we haven't seen before. I'm lucky. We are safe where we are. We just can't get out. But we have everything and generators for if the power goes out. Alot of people have lost everything again. I have to get out on Tuesday to get medication I need so hopefully it eases of by then. Thanks Tania. The TF did look better, unfortunately for me bc I already bought the HG. But I did not prefer the powdery finish of the original HG primer and I prefer unscented so I think I have the right one for me. 🤔 Your makeup looked beautiful either way. Praying for those in Ukraine and the overall sad state of this world. Lord be with all in the midst as well as family and friends in surrounding areas. The Tom Ford side was quite noticeably more smoothing. As a dry skin gal with some texture also, would love to have both the smoothing of the TF and the extra dewy of the Hourglass. A girl can dream😉 Have you since used the TF all over with other foundation faves and found it to be just as nice?
I have used the TF with two other foundations now. One is the Merit foundation and one is the Nars foundation. It looked amazing!!!

I came here to hear about Tom Ford but just a reminder of all the b.s. going on in the world and all the people affected, really puts things into perspective. I applaud you for acknowledging that. The Tom Ford is more matte than Tatcha and a bit more smoother. Tatcha feels more hydrating!

I loved this video and also wanted to say your eyelashes always look so great! Do you do a thing special or do you prep them in a certain way to get them really curly and defined?
I usually use a lash serum, the grande lash MD. Used it for many many years!! I don’t do anything else. I do use a lash curler before mascara❤️

Hi Tania! I appreciate you greatly talking about Ukraine. I was born there. Left young. But they are now also bombing the city I knew and loved as a child. I currently live in the US. It is heartbreaking to see beautiful cities destroyed, young boys and men defending their country, innocent peoples lives taken for no reason in the times where we can have peace and find other humanly ways of finding solutions. Women protecting their children hiding while their homes are cold heartedly being destroyed. We have friends there, who are uncertain of their tomorrow. Very scary. I too watch the news non stop and UA-cam is one of many distractions at this time. Thanks to the countries close by who do take people in to save innocent lives from this horror. Love your channel.
