hey! Just wondering, how many international students get into NUS Med? I understand that you may not know the exact numbers, but maybe you have brief idea based on your classmates?
I want to go into medicine too,I have a question,if they ask “why do you think you deserve this spot at NUS medicine? “ how do I answer?like if they actually ask this question
Hi, I am a Y4 student at HCI now, do taking up H3 Biology and Math in JC helps? I am also wondering from another comment that if you study MBBS in NUS, you can defer from enlistment and get to serve NS as Medical Officer. Do this happen 100% for sucessful applicants into NUS med or is it only for selected students? Btw some unnecessary questions, what JC did you graduate from and what CCA did you attend? Are you a prefect in secondary school/JC?
Hi! As long as you meet the subject requirements set by NUS med, you can be accepted. But having one subject combo doesn't give you a higher chance over another, as long as both fall within the requirements. With regard to NS enlistment, most people are offered the option to defer but I suppose there is no 100% guarantee. I graduated from ACS independent and I used to play ultimate frisbee haha. I wasn't a prefect in secondary school of JC. Actually I didn't even hold any leadership positions. Hope this helps
Hi.. I want to ask so currently I am a 2nd year IB student and I ever read that the interview of NUS med application is on April but I will took my examination on May so How will NUS select me to enter the uni or not as the real score will be released around July while the interview is around April? Do NUS score as and select us based on our predicted score or how?
Hi Tally, no there is no premed course. The undergraduate degree is a 5 year course, after which you have to work in public hospitals for at least 2 years before residency (if you choose to specialise). Hope this helps!
hi can i ask what will happen after graduating 5 years in medical school? are you allowed to work in the hospital and called GP? and how much is the salary? if you don't mind me asking these questions hehe:) btw your vlog is so amazing you inspired me to study and pursue medicine:) thank you!
Hello! After graduating, you are obligated to work in the hospital as a houseman for a year and then a medical officer for another year. After that, you can continue to work as a medical officer in the hospital, or begin residency. (Edit: you must serve your 5 year bond before working in private clinics as a GP.)
hello there i am an international student from India and I have completed my 12th grade school this year. i am willing to apply for mbbs course in the upcoming admission month. is ielts or toefl required ? is there any other specific requirement for international student? what is the acceptance ratio of international students ?
Hello, i'm not sure what ielts or toefl is, but you can find the application requirements here: www.nus.edu.sg/oam/apply-to-nus/international-qualifications/before-you-apply/course-pre-requisites
@@noahsim4749 thanx for replaying i had one more question please consider it as last one do we have to write 2 different personal statements. one for nus admission form and another one for nus medicine portal ?
Hi Noah, your vlogs are interesting and informative. Im interested to study med as well. it seems you availed NS deferment. May i know the pros and cons of completing NS after completing MBBS? Thanks in advance.
Hi! When you defer NS for MBBS, you will complete the remaining duration of national service as a medical officer. Other than that, I also chose to defer because I preferred to complete MBBS with friends my age.
Hiii, is it true that poly students (those from biomed course) has a lower chance to enter med school? What are the estimated percentage of students in med school that comes from poly?
Hello, as long as you meet the requirements for admission, I don't believe that there is a bias against poly students! Although I don't know the % of poly students I can assure you that its possible to make it :)
There’s an increasing number of poly students entering medicine actually! Ofc you’re need to have near perfect GPA just like scoring near perfect RP in JC. (3.9 would be comfortable tho they may be more lax now) I think there’s about +/-10 poly students per batch out of 280 students in NUS, not too sure abt NTU. However, once you get the interview, yr score doesn’t matter that much anymore. It all depends on how well you do in the interview.
Hello! I would advise you to perhaps gain some intern experience in the healthcare sector to see if medicine is something you'd really want to do. There aren't many things you can prepare for besides the BMAT exam (if you intend to take it)
*Hi!! Dear, first of all take my heart. I'm Samiya Islam from Bangladesh. I wanna study at NUS in this discipline with scholarship. I would like to add that I'm an 10th grade student. How can I get prepared for it from now and in which year should I apply for it? Please kindly reply*
Hey Samiya, people in Singapore usually apply after they take their A level exams in 12th grade. You will have to check the NUS medicine website to see whether they accept the qualification that your school provides. In terms of preparation, there is no extra exam you have to take.
Hello, I believe all students (Singaporean and international) will have to go for a general health checkup to make sure your required vaccinations are up to date
Hello, yes you can still apply to NUS even if you are an international student, as long as you meet the requirements (medicine.nus.edu.sg/admissions/pre-requisites/). As for scholarships, NUS automatically considers international students who apply; but you should google for scholarships from external organisations too.
