Can you provide any insight on the Ripmo AF? Is it just a Carbon Ripmo with a 2 lbs heavier frame or is it more than that? Is the flex of a carbon frame vs an alloy frame different?

Nice review. I too have been on a Ripmo v2 for about 6 months here in Albuquerque NM. Coming from a 2017 tall boy, I was worried the Ripmo might be overbiked for my trails, which are mostly chunky cross country. However, after 6 months I am %100 satisfied with the Ripmo. It even climbs much, much better than my tallboy, in fact. The extra travel is great when I need it and I’ve never felt like I had to pay a sacrifice for it. It truly is the best of both worlds. Great all-round bike
I live in the Northeast and got my Ripmo last spring (2020) after 3 years on my HD3. Last year was a rebuilding year after suffering a bad tib/fib FX in August of 2019 and I'm slowly getting back into shape. I have 647.2 miles on my Ripmo since getting it and have climbed more than 80k feet with no issues at all. I love my bike (it's the V1 BTW as I didn't want the longer bike that the V2 is). I love the X2 on the rear but I'm 215 kitted out and ride NE steep rocky terrain; I love the adjustability that the X2 provides. My bike is as silent as the day I got it; this is my second Ibis and I just love their version of DW link for all of the climbing I do it's perfect. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks for weighing in! The original ripmo is an excellent trail bike. One of the very best do it all bikes I’ve ever ridden! I too love how silent this bike is after months of riding!
Buying one tomorrow. Can't wait to shred it. Been riding a 27.5 Bronson for long time and the Ripmo will be my first 29er. Rode long travel 26er for years ...great time to be a mountain biker with so many good choices. Digging the geometry of the newer bikes.
Ordered a V1 in January 2020. The V2 was shown on Pinkbike by Kazimeir and I new I was getting the V2 then. 10.5 months later after rebuilding my S Enduro for the 3rd time my Ripmo showed up on September 28th. Since then I've pedaled one XTR 3rd gear round (replaced it) and have just over 1700 miles and 230,000 vertical on it. THIS BIKE RIPS! Mo better than anything I've ever ridden and I absolutely love it! Perfect for the PNW. Thanks for the review!!!!
Thanks for this video. I just placed an order for a Ripmo and I’m coming from a Mojo HD5. I can’t wait to get it! Also, regarding the Ibis enduro team, the only real change to the bike is they run the fork at 170mm which slackens the head tube by another 0.5 degrees
Nice!! It might feel just ever so slightly slower coming out of the corners but you'll have more traction, hold speed better and get hung up a lot less on chunder.... I remember being very worried about moving from my 27.5 to a 29er... the Ripmo might be the easiest 29er to switch to because of how easy going it is and willingness to be playful and agile. Hi Jason. Good review, as always. I have a Ripmo with XT build, Ibis carbon wheels and i9 hub. I have been riding it for 1 year and I love it! The geometry of this bike is perfect! I'm a massive rider with my 240lbs, so I upgraded to my advantage. I have a Push Elevensix coil shock and I modified my fork with a Push ACS3 coil kit. It turned the bike into a real beast! I also modified the brakes for Hope Tech 3 V4. It is perfectly to my taste now. I ride on fairly rocky terrain in Quebec Canada, so the coils greatly enhance the driving experience. I just find geo perfect. Not too big, not too small, just the right size for perfect control.
I just transitioned from a MOJO HD4 to the V2 and it's taking a bit getting used to on the chunky downhill stuff (not as confidence inspiring), but climbing is remarkable, which is where I need the help. It's a trade-off that I'll adapt to with pleasure -- I'm 62 and my hips are shot, this baby really makes a difference out here in Sedona where the steep, chunky climbing can take a toll on us old F'rs...
I love my Ripmo. I built it on the lighter side for trails and while it may be over kill for some of the rides I do it sure does put a smile on my face.
Interesting to hear about the Aggressor up front... not sure I've ever seen anyone do that. Typically a rear tire. The DHR II is also typically a rear tire but a few years ago I started riding it up front in lieu of the DHF (in an effort to save weight) and loved it!! How's the Aggressor up front?

I had built mine in a large pretty light as well, in the heavier side of 28lbs. But my new Ripmo I think is a little heavier at 30lbs. But once you are on it, its just amazing and you can't tell its heavier. Hope your still enjoying it.
Yeah, Ibis has a unique look for sure.... I personally don't mind the swooping frame but prefer the straight lines of the Pivot, Transition and Rocky Mountain bikes
It’s ok if looks matter. It matters to me, at these price points, it’s like buying a motorcycle or a car, the way it looks is part of it and you know, you want what you want. It’s all good! 👍
JEZ, the Ranger is the closest I've gotten to a Ripley in any of the short travel trail bikes.... Such a good bike. Looking forward to getting a ride on the new RM Element!!
Yeah, no 29" for this guy. I just ordered my Mojo4 frame, FOX-38 and E-wings crank, XTR and Hayes brakes, and I'm doing it right with MacAskill approved Santa Cruz Reserve 27.5" Carbon wheels on hard to find Onyx hubs - and that will undoubtedly be the last bike I'll ever need. Had 29" and never felt like I was *IN* it, always on *TOP* of it - like riding a ladder with wagon wheels, just didn't impress me with it's handling and lack of fun-factor in the turns - which I enjoy more than Mach-Chicken downhill runs. I'm glad it works for you, Jason, and I'm not surprised you stick with IBIS.

Love these long term updates. Nothing like feedback from a year or more on a bike and even better when you have been on soo many others in the catagory. Local dealer just added Ibis to their lineup. Gonna have to see if they have something I can at least throw a leg over. I will say relative to several other brands Ibis pricing is better value and I love how they offer Deore, NX, SLX kits but with factory fox and an AF line with DVO.
Yep. Ibis prices are so good compared to all others right now.... I would be shocked if they didn't raise their prices very soon.... most all other brands have at this point.

A number of bikes I've been considering have gone up by as much as 20% and then their is the availability and distributor aspect in Canada we still have a few brands going through distributors like Pivot and Spec. I'm now looking at lower specs or Aluminum as prices skyrocket and value is evaporating

Great to see another well done review from Yum Yum!! Having the V2 as my daily driver agreed....it is a playful yet capable all arounder. Also agree.....putting the coil on occasionally turns it into a ground hugging machine.
Yep! If your speed is high and trails are rugged more often then not, the Ripmo gets it done as well as any bike out there and still gives you a well rounded slower speed trail bike!
Great review. As a prior Yeti SB 5.5 and Yeti SB 150 owner I bought the Ripmo V2 from Salt Cyles in 2020 based upon your first review. I love this bike! I have ridden it in Moab on Ahab, Whole Enchilada, Gold Bar-Portal, North Carolina Pisgah trails and Florida trails. I still own a Yeti SB 100 which you think I would be riding in Florida and some less burly trails than Moab, but as you said it is SOO much fun and ticks a lot of boxes. I am running Fox X2 and Fox 38 160 mm fork. The Ripmo should be at the top of anyone's list and I highly recommend Salt Cycles as well. They are great to deal with. PS I'm selling my SB100 because I never use it anymore!
I had the Ripmo on order last year. When the eta was moved 3x and then to no eta I decided to get an SB130LR. Rode it for about 8 months. Sold it and currently on a Switchblade. Loving it! I believe a Ripmo will be my next bike.
Literally sitting in the salt lake airport after 8 days in Moab. Rented the ripmo and the Evil offering for 3 days each. I'm a BIG Ibis fan, but the offering out performed the ripmo in EVERY way. With the offering I cleared slick rock trail sweatlessley, with only two slip ups which were totally my fault. NO WAY I would have cleared all those climbs with the Ripmo, I'm positive of this. The Offering was also way more responsive on trails like porcupine rim, goldbar etc. Super playfully. I will admit, the offering a had a better overall build than the ripmo, but there was a very noticeable difference between the two. Mega impressed with the offering, might even replace my calling for one. I'll never replace my Ripley though! 👍
Interesting comment and thank you for weighing in! Having ridden the ripmo and offering back to back I agree, the offering is incredibly playful and high spirited. Gets out of your way while riding and has a easy and natural riding position.... climbing it felt like a dog compared to the ripmo... I don't have overly difficult climbs on my test loop but in terms of efficiency, the ripmo was clearly faster and scoots up the trail quicker.
Remember that tires make a huge difference when comparing bikes. I rented a Ripmo and Switchblade in Moab this year. The Ripmo had anchors for tires (Maxxis Assegai) which made comparing the two completely unfair as it felt super sluggish.
@@erichay3956 Both bikes had Minion DHF front and rear. Offering was the X01 build, as seen on their website, Ripmo was a hodgepodge of lower end components except for the XT brakes and fox 36.. Offering was 140/150, Ripmo was 145/160. both fox 36 up front. suspension setup on both bikes was spot on, I do this myself. The Ripmo was heavier than the offering, I'd say 2-3 lbs. ultimately the offering was a more agile, precise, playful bike that climbed not only better that the Ripmo, but any other evil I've ridden, by a long shot (evil are typically ok climbers in my experience). They definitely changed something with he new offering. I literally cleared 99.99% of slick rock trail with the offering, pretty much non stop (had to take some occasional pics, such an amazing area), with ease. And that was after completing Moabs brands and whole enchilada (not in the same day of course, back to back days in that order). As much as I love descents, I love climbs and love the pain of climbing, The Ripmo just didn't respond as I expected both up and down. My guess is the extra travel, which I believe it does not need, made it feel clumsy. and again, I'm a big Ibis fan (absolutely LOVE climbing my Ripley) and plan on calling them this Thursday to tell them that a bike shop is renting their product not spec'ed to any of their builds. Not sure if they'll care but I think they should at least know about it.
Great review. Funny to see the bias though. One frame he talks about his X2 blowing up his 2nd or 3rd ride. Then shortly there after talking about how he had problems with the Switchblade shock, but his Ripmo has been perfect. 🤣
So I demoed most of the bikes you talked about and more. To me by far in Colorado the new Pivot 429 wins all day .... climbs well goes down very well and still kinda light....
I completely agree! The new T429 is a special bike.... maybe the best trail bike available right now. I just got one for myself and been loving it. It's a bit of a change from my current ibis ripley but for sure overall, the better trail bike. video on the T429 coming soon!!

Yeah, not trying to dog on other reviewers but I've never understood the standing in front of the camera and pointing out all the same stuff you could just go read on the bike brands website... a review is a description of what the bike does on the trail, how it might be different than the previous model or other bikes in the category. things like that... it was for this purpose I started doing bike reviews. I'm not good at writing but I feel like I can describe a bike pretty good so.... UA-cam videos has sort of become a thing for me! Grafton near St. George Ut is incredible. Will be down there in November!!
I owned a large ripmo v2 for a month this season and decided to sell it (I am 6'1" 195 riding weight). I also owned a Devinci Troy 2021 and am now on a Revel Rascal with a Lyrik. Before that I rode a SB5.5 and Niner Rip9. I thought the Ripmo was nice overall but steering was a little twitchy and under-steers in hard corners. It's a good climber but not great. It might be faster uphill than the Troy but it's not faster than the Rascal. Overall the Ripmo is not great steep or technical climber... I had to lean over the front pretty hard to keep the front wheel down. Not as much as my old SB5.5, but more than the Rascal or Troy. I loved the Troy and should've kept it. For me, the Lrg Troy was noticeably better than the Lrg Ripmo. The Troy was super balanced and nimble (steering is neutral and stable, bike leans over side to side super quick), more stable downhill, a good climber and super comfortable on steep uphills (20+% grade)... actually the Troy is the most comfortable steep climber I have owned (the 440mm chainstays and ~77deg seat tube are great). The Troy is so comfortable, I felt like I could climb 30-40% more miles on it over the Ripmo, despite the Troy being a little heavier. To be fair, I had a coil shock and Nobl TR41 rims on the Troy vs. an X2 and Crankbrother synthesis carbon rims on the Ripmo. So some of steering and downhill comparison could be skewed by the shock and wheelset difference. The Nobl TR41's are absolutely dope, but the Synthesis rims are pretty damn great too. I will probably buy a used 2021 Troy frame at some point to try to recreate the magic. The Rascal (super deluxe rear shock), while having less travel, doesn't feel like it gives much up to the Ripmo on the downhill but steers/handles and climbs better. It is also a more comfortable steep climber than the Ripmo, although not to the level of the Troy. That is my impression even though the overall build of my Revel is not 'yet' as good as my Ripmo was.
Strange, my ripmo doesn’t understeer at all and it’s the fastest bike I’ve been on downhill from strava. Was the bike big enough? I’m 6.2 and xl was perfect fit but I had a xl orbea occam before and had exact same comments as you. Used to understeer, twitchy steering and front used to lift up. Turns out it was too small for me so got rid of it.
@@RH-vp8gr You are right... I may have been happier on XL. But that being said... Ripmo's are so popular in general that I have seen a lot of them on the trail and I have seen other riders have the same issues. I have even seen guys on video here on youtube go down on their Ripmo due to the front tire washing out. Anyhow... just my experience. Ripmo is still a good bike. My opinions are ruined though by that Devinci Troy... that bike was great for me. The Rascal also has been really nice.

I love my V1! It's a bold statement to say the Switchblade climbs better than the Ripmo. You know more though since I haven't ridden one before. The SB130 climbs great too, perhaps a tad better than the Ripmo. But all these bikes climb amazing! They're all winners in climbing and pedaling overall.
This is the bike I really like. Aesthetics wise it does not really wow you but almost all the youtubers eho reviewed this bike can't seem to find any flaws. If I would be able to sell my stumpjumper this bike will definitely be on the top of the list! 😀
@@mtbyumyum 2019! Made sone upgrade with full dvo suspension. Dt swiss wheels laced to i9 hydras. I love it though but everytime I see a ripmo review it always triggers my new bike day juice 😅
Ordered mine 8/20, received 3/21. SLX build kit. Love the bike, like Jason said sporting, poppy and can handle gnar. My only complaints…2 things. The bottom bracket is low. You will pedal strike rocks and roots. Best to run 170mm cranks instead of 175. It could definitely use better frame protection. Agree on the tires, run them at 2.4. 👍
YumYum…Salt Cycles built me an awesome Pivot Mach 6 mullet! I have the coil and I think it makes the Pivot’s stiffness more plush. The mullet also makes it fun and snappy. Thanks for the info and reviews. Dissector rear and DHR2 front. Tried multiple combos and this is the best all around. Never tried the Ibis but my God, the Pivot is soo gorgeous!

Always like the videos, keep them coming! I have a ripmo and built it up to be more trail rather than enduro and have been enjoying it. I feel like heavier guys can appreciate this bike more as it’s still lively and pedals great for longer rides.
It doesn't hurt to try it... or spend the time and try and tune that x2 to your liking... I always struggled to get the x2 to feel as light and poppy as the dpx
After 3+ years with my V1 I'm still loving it, but my skills have improved to where I want a 2nd bike for the dedicated park days. Considering how capable the Rimpo is though, I'm thinking that only a real dual crown DH bike would make sense as a 2nd. Mayyyybe a Spire, Wreckoning, something like that, but even with those I'm thinking they'll feel kinda same-y next to the Ibis.

Thank you! I rode the previous gen Offering... such a fun bike but for whatever reason, wasn't a great climber. Which was a surprise because I always thought the wreckoning was a good climber for the longer travel category. The Offering was playful and jiby... that bike never got in the way of my riding and had a very easy and natural riding position.... climbing was behind the SC Hightower though... good luck!

Yeah, it's more than personal preference. those bikes are quite different. After riding them back to back, on the same day on the same trail, the Sentinel is a lot more work to pedal and toss around. More stable and planted and less willing to pop around without greater effort. Sort of wakes up at a much higher speed than the ripmo and overall just isn't as playful
Great job on the review Jason. For anyone getting one, just so you know Ibis really means it when they say 2.6 clearance in the rear for the frame. I put a 2.6 Rekon on the back with the stock Ibis 35mm ID rim which measures 2.59 and there’s like 2-3mm of clearance. Unfortunately one ride in a couple rocks got in there and scraped up the pinch spots. Not a flaw of the bike, but hopefully this helps someone.

I've been on the rip V2 for a couple months now but having a hard time getting the topaz dialed in how I'd like so thinking about giving the cascade a go. I'm glad more and more people see that overbiking has been and still is a trend. Most people need less than they choose, and that does not just involve bicycles. It's better to point out the elephant in the room, so that things like this can be put to rest.
To each their own but honestly, I think most people don't even realize they don't need as much bike as them have and they're not even aware of home much fun and how capable shorter travel bikes are. Same is true w tires....
Great long term review. DPX2 seems like the ideal shock for this bike. A lot of people have blown up x2s. Coil seems like a bit of an odd choice for a dwlink bike, I’m sure it works fine, but it kind of nullifies some of this bike’s characteristic strengths.
Having ridden both I liked the X2 better. The DPx2 was okay(but it came with Ibis’s traction tune) which I did not like. But even with the largest spacer I would bottom out too much. The X2 with two volume spacers was perfect for me on that bike and didn’t take away any energy or playfulness that that bike had to offer. A regular non “traction tune” DPX2 may have been a little better, but the ripmo is not progressive, or long travel enough for bigger hits for the DPx2. Unless you’re Jeff Kendall Weed and you have ninja powers.
Yeah, I've really enjoyed the dpx2 and just makes the bike feel a little lighter and quicker.... I understand why it comes with the X2 but for my speed and trails, dpx2 is prefered. The coil was sort of an "out of the blue" situation.... when I blew up the X2, Chris at Salt suggested just trying the coil seeing how I had never ridden a coil before and Ibis offers it this way.... I agree, it wasn't my favorite but was fun to try and see how different it was.
I recently put the newer Float X factory on my V1 Ripmo, replacing the stock DPX2. It's an upgrade in almost every way. Small bump compliance is plusher, and support in mid stroke and bottom out is better (with the DPX2 I had the largest volume reducer even though I'm only about 172lbs, on the Float X the stock spacer is AOK even on big jumps and gnarly downhill). I highly suggest it, worth every penny.

Seems a great bike, nice to see you uploading again. I've prioritized the climbing of the Switchblade over this bike, but I'm curious about the issue you ran into on the custom DPX2 on the Pivot. I'm similar to you 5'10 140 lbs, except skills, ha ha!
The SB would get harsh at the highest speeds over consistent chunky sections. Like the bike would slowly start to get bucked around for me and if the chunk was sustained for more than just 10 seconds, it was light the shock couldn't keep up.... and would start to get super chattery.... like the rebound was set too fast. Only, it wasn't. If I slowed the shock down it would pack out. I really think I got the shock set up correctly but the bike was just too stiff for me when I really started pushing the limits of the bike... high speed.... possible the shock tune was just too heavy and if I were to keep the SB long term, I would have had the shock re-valved for a lighter tune
@@mtbyumyum Good to know, thanks for the reply. After my skills improve and if I run into that I'll have to consider replacement. I've seen people opt for the dhx2 coil and give good reviews of its performance on that platform. I do wonder what that would do to its climbing abilities.
I have a new Switchblade and I am also 140 pounds. I was able to get the shock dialed in one ride. Removing the volume spacer was the key for me! I also have the new Trail 429. I tend to grab that bike over all my other bikes here in northern Utah.

Hey man great review. I k is this video is a couple years old, but I was wondering what your thoughts are in the 2023 coming with the bomber Z1 fork and marzocchi air shock? Not sure if the extra weight on the fork will affect performance negatively, or if it’s worth it for the weight. I could try to find a 2022 with the DVO air suspension, or even with the coil shock. Do you have any input on this? Haven’t found any reviews differentiating the bomber vs. DVO feeling. Any input is greatly appreciated!
hmm. I'm a big guy, 240lbs and dropping. Hope to get to around 200. Wondering if the Ripley af or Ripmo af would be better for bigger riders. No looking to do anything insane, just want a good all around mt/trail bike.
If you're down hill speeds arn't going to be consistently over 18 mph, I'd go with the Ripley AF. The Ripley AF is an incredible do-everything trail bike!
I love my Ripmo. Got the DVO stuff. I liked it at first but it has lost its luster. I swapped the topaz for a fox x2 and what a difference. I am getting a fox 36 and ditching the onyx
I have the Ripmo V1. Would you say selling my bike for the V2 would provide a night and day performance or is it best to wait for the next generation for possibly more improvements? Thanks and keep the videos rolling. They're informative and fun to watch.
Thanks for all of your videos Jason! Questions: We are close to the same size and I was wondering what air pressures and rebound settings you like on the Ripmo? I'm running the same suspension but on the V1. Also what size dropper have you been able to fit? Mine came with the 160 and I have close to 4 inches of post showing so I could use a longer post. I'm probably an inch taler than you. FYI , can't get enough of the kids ripping it up in the backyard on the Moto's!! Too fun.
Haha yeah. I love the mini moto track in the back yard!! So fun! I sold the ripmo about 3 weeks ago so I no longer have it. I run the rebound fast… maybe 5 clicks from full fast and slow it down as needed. Good luck!
Great review! What are your thoughts on the Ripmo AF GX build compared to the Comencal Meta TR 29 race? Haven't seen many reviews on the Commecal Meta TR Race. It would be great to test ride one but they only have them for rentals in Colorado.

Thanks for the detailed review. I'm trying to decide between a Ripmo and Stumpjumper EVO. You mentioned in your SJ video that you left the chain stay in the high position to avoid pedal strikes. Did you notice many pedal strikes with the Ripmo? I ride in Tucson where we have incredible trails but abundant opportunities for pedal strikes.

I can only afford one bike at this time in my life (kid factor) and this is it (Ripmo V2), but if I were to do a few more easy trail / cross country runs what tire combo would you recommend? I like the bike better w the dpx2. I don’t see it as a down grade… just a different experience. The new Fox float X that replaced the previous dpx2 is even better🤘

Hi, would you be able to provide some guidance on how to pick the right size ibis if between sizes? The ibis ripley reach is maybe too short on small but too long on medium. I’ve read some advice that suggests everyone should size down given new geometry. If you buy a bike that is too big, what kind of adjustments can you make, just shorten the stem?
Without knowing your exact size/height, I hesitate to say to much and possibly point you in the wrong direction... I'm 5'8" on a Medium Ripmo w 750mm bars and 35mm stem I have a 55mm stem on my size Medium Ripley.... good luck!
Good question. They’re both really good. Probably best in category. Geo on the Switchblade is about perfect for a trail bike… any maybe slightly quicker around corners but you’re splitting hairs. Good luck!
I feel like the ripmo is more enduro oriented, however I ride it on my local trails!! I would love to shred some weight of from my v2. Any recommendations? I have a XT built
Tires are the easies and most affordable way to drop weight. If your terrain allows for less protection and traction, you might really enjoy a more "trail" oriented tire like the Rekon or Ardent Race. I absolutely love the 2.4 Rekon front and rear. Carbon wheels is the next best way to drop weight, particularly rolling weight, and speed up your bike!
Mine came with a Fox X2 on the XT build (which weighs over 600 grams!!), you can drop almost a pound if you go with a different rear shock without the piggyback (I have a few shocks but I have a 2019 float evol that weighs like 225 grams and feels pretty good for more pedal focused days).
I wasn’t sure if you responded to comments; I left a question asking your recommendations between a Propain Tyee, the Yeti SB150, and the Rocky Mountain Altitude. A quiver bike; for everything. From Freeride/Chairlift to enduro type trails (Arizona, to Woodsy trails). Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
The SB150 feels like a really big bike for regular trails where the RM Altitude can still handle all the big stuff just like the sb150 but maybe a little more fun on slower speed trails.

It would be a lot of fun to ride those bikes back to back.... The Instinct would could maybe win out.... descends so well and with the shock in trail mode, it climbs well too
It really comes down to speed / terrain. So really consider how fast your speed is and possible, how much you'll be in the air doing jumps and drops. A Ripley with aggressive tires and 140mm Pike or Fox 36 can get me just about anywhere I need to go in Utah. Good luck!

2 weeks ago, picked up a RipMo V2 with the Fox38...Wanted a bike to handle the PNW chund'er and bigger trails better. I have a Tallboy3 that I use for XC racing and longer easy trail rides. I am wondering what Enve rims you went with on your RipMo? I still have the Ibis 35mm alu-wheels but comparing some carbon wheels to throw on. I am thinking about going with 30mm-id to get those tires a bit more round again. They feel a touch squared off at 35mm-id rims. Any thoughts you have or care to share? TIA...

Ibis has left the building. Had one on order for over 3 months and got the sorry bruh email, getting one is near impossible. California... nuf said. Found an Evil following V3 you need to get your hands on this bike. Its magical, just get one yumster.......
I bought a 2019 Ripmo V1 in March of 2020 because I loved the quick nimble feel of the V1. The bike has been flawless but the Factory 36 fork has not been stellar. I have removed one of the tokens, run up to 25% sag, opened up the high and low speed compression settings and at 205 pounds I still have yet to use the last 1-1.5” of travel. It feels harsh even soft and opened up. I have heard of over greased air chamber can cause these symptoms and I cleaned some of the excess grease out of the air chamber but it didn’t make a difference. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do to free it up? I have ridden one other factory 36 and it was the plushest and best fork I ever ridden. This one needs something. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you provide any insight on the Ripmo AF? Is it just a Carbon Ripmo with a 2 lbs heavier frame or is it more than that? Is the flex of a carbon frame vs an alloy frame different?

Nice review. I too have been on a Ripmo v2 for about 6 months here in Albuquerque NM. Coming from a 2017 tall boy, I was worried the Ripmo might be overbiked for my trails, which are mostly chunky cross country. However, after 6 months I am %100 satisfied with the Ripmo. It even climbs much, much better than my tallboy, in fact. The extra travel is great when I need it and I’ve never felt like I had to pay a sacrifice for it. It truly is the best of both worlds. Agree with you here. Recently moved to NM as well and I brought my Ripmo and it is perfect for everything here.
I live in the Northeast and got my Ripmo last spring (2020) after 3 years on my HD3. Last year was a rebuilding year after suffering a bad tib/fib FX in August of 2019 and I'm slowly getting back into shape. I have 647.2 miles on my Ripmo since getting it and have climbed more than 80k feet with no issues at all. I love my bike (it's the V1 BTW as I didn't want the longer bike that the V2 is). I love the X2 on the rear but I'm 215 kitted out and ride NE steep rocky terrain; I love the adjustability that the X2 provides. My bike is as silent as the day I got it; this is my second Ibis and I just love their version of DW link for all of the climbing I do it's perfect. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks for weighing in! The original ripmo is an excellent trail bike. One of the very best do it all bikes I’ve ever ridden! I too love how silent this bike is after months of riding!
Buying one tomorrow. Can't wait to shred it. Been riding a 27.5 Bronson for long time and the Ripmo will be my first 29er. Rode long travel 26er for years ...great time to be a mountain biker with so many good choices. Digging the geometry of the newer bikes.

Great clamber, that bike give me confidence on my down hill.
Ordered a V1 in January 2020. The V2 was shown on Pinkbike by Kazimeir and I new I was getting the V2 then. 10.5 months later after rebuilding my S Enduro for the 3rd time my Ripmo showed up on September 28th. Since then I've pedaled one XTR 3rd gear round (replaced it) and have just over 1700 miles and 230,000 vertical on it. THIS BIKE RIPS! Mo better than anything I've ever ridden and I absolutely love it! Perfect for the PNW. Thanks for the review!!!!

Also, regarding the Ibis enduro team, the only real change to the bike is they run the fork at 170mm which slackens the head tube by another 0.5 degrees
Nice!! It might feel just ever so slightly slower coming out of the corners but you'll have more traction, hold speed better and get hung up a lot less on chunder.... I remember being very worried about moving from my 27.5 to a 29er... the Ripmo might be the easiest 29er to switch to because of how easy going it is and willingness to be playful and agile. Hi Jason. Good review, as always. I have a Ripmo with XT build, Ibis carbon wheels and i9 hub. I have been riding it for 1 year and I love it! The geometry of this bike is perfect! I'm a massive rider with my 240lbs, so I upgraded to my advantage. I have a Push Elevensix coil shock and I modified my fork with a Push ACS3 coil kit. It turned the bike into a real beast! I also modified the brakes for Hope Tech 3 V4. It is perfectly to my taste now. I ride on fairly rocky terrain in Quebec Canada, so the coils greatly enhance the driving experience.
I just find geo perfect. Not too big, not too small, just the right size for perfect control.

I just transitioned from a MOJO HD4 to the V2 and it's taking a bit getting used to on the chunky downhill stuff (not as confidence inspiring), but climbing is remarkable, which is where I need the help. It's a trade-off that I'll adapt to with pleasure -- I'm 62 and my hips are shot, this baby really makes a difference out here in Sedona where the steep, chunky climbing can take a toll on us old F'rs...
I love my Ripmo. I built it on the lighter side for trails and while it may be over kill for some of the rides I do it sure does put a smile on my face.

Interesting to hear about the Aggressor up front... not sure I've ever seen anyone do that. Typically a rear tire. The DHR II is also typically a rear tire but a few years ago I started riding it up front in lieu of the DHF (in an effort to save weight) and loved it!! How's the Aggressor up front?

I had built mine in a large pretty light as well, in the heavier side of 28lbs. But my new Ripmo I think is a little heavier at 30lbs. But once you are on it, its just amazing and you can't tell its heavier. Hope your still enjoying it.
The Ripmo is such a great all a-rounder and very capable bike and although it shouldn’t matter, I can’t get passed the looks.
Yeah, Ibis has a unique look for sure.... I personally don't mind the swooping frame but prefer the straight lines of the Pivot, Transition and Rocky Mountain bikes
It’s ok if looks matter. It matters to me, at these price points, it’s like buying a motorcycle or a car, the way it looks is part of it and you know, you want what you want. It’s all good! 👍
Same - I went with a Revel Ranger over the Ripley for the same reason.
I feel you, I have heard great things about them but I think they just look so ugly. The ripmo doesn’t look too bad but the mojo looks horrific.
JEZ, the Ranger is the closest I've gotten to a Ripley in any of the short travel trail bikes.... Such a good bike. Looking forward to getting a ride on the new RM Element!!

Yeah, no 29" for this guy. I just ordered my Mojo4 frame, FOX-38 and E-wings crank, XTR and Hayes brakes, and I'm doing it right with MacAskill approved Santa Cruz Reserve 27.5" Carbon wheels on hard to find Onyx hubs - and that will undoubtedly be the last bike I'll ever need.
Had 29" and never felt like I was *IN* it, always on *TOP* of it - like riding a ladder with wagon wheels, just didn't impress me with it's handling and lack of fun-factor in the turns - which I enjoy more than Mach-Chicken downhill runs.

Love these long term updates. Nothing like feedback from a year or more on a bike and even better when you have been on soo many others in the catagory.
Local dealer just added Ibis to their lineup. Gonna have to see if they have something I can at least throw a leg over.
I will say relative to several other brands Ibis pricing is better value and I love how they offer Deore, NX, SLX kits but with factory fox and an AF line with DVO.
Yep. Ibis prices are so good compared to all others right now.... I would be shocked if they didn't raise their prices very soon.... most all other brands have at this point.

A number of bikes I've been considering have gone up by as much as 20% and then their is the availability and distributor aspect in Canada we still have a few brands going through distributors like Pivot and Spec. I'm now looking at lower specs or Aluminum as prices skyrocket and value is evaporating

Great to see another well done review from Yum Yum!! Having the V2 as my daily driver agreed....it is a playful yet capable all arounder. Also agree.....putting the coil on occasionally turns it into a ground hugging machine.
Yep! If your speed is high and trails are rugged more often then not, the Ripmo gets it done as well as any bike out there and still gives you a well rounded slower speed trail bike!
Great review. As a prior Yeti SB 5.5 and Yeti SB 150 owner I bought the Ripmo V2 from Salt Cyles in 2020 based upon your first review. I love this bike! I have ridden it in Moab on Ahab, Whole Enchilada, Gold Bar-Portal, North Carolina Pisgah trails and Florida trails. I still own a Yeti SB 100 which you think I would be riding in Florida and some less burly trails than Moab, but as you said it is SOO much fun and ticks a lot of boxes. I am running Fox X2 and Fox 38 160 mm fork. The Ripmo should be at the top of anyone's list and I highly recommend Salt Cycles as well. They are great to deal with. PS I'm selling my SB100 because I never use it anymore!
I had the Ripmo on order last year. When the eta was moved 3x and then to no eta I decided to get an SB130LR. Rode it for about 8 months. Sold it and currently on a Switchblade. Loving it! I believe a Ripmo will be my next bike.

Literally sitting in the salt lake airport after 8 days in Moab. Rented the ripmo and the Evil offering for 3 days each. I'm a BIG Ibis fan, but the offering out performed the ripmo in EVERY way. With the offering I cleared slick rock trail sweatlessley, with only two slip ups which were totally my fault. NO WAY I would have cleared all those climbs with the Ripmo, I'm positive of this. The Offering was also way more responsive on trails like porcupine rim, goldbar etc. Super playfully. I will admit, the offering a had a better overall build than the ripmo, but there was a very noticeable difference between the two. Mega impressed with the offering, might even replace my calling for one. I'll never replace my Ripley though! 👍
Interesting comment and thank you for weighing in! Having ridden the ripmo and offering back to back I agree, the offering is incredibly playful and high spirited. Gets out of your way while riding and has a easy and natural riding position.... climbing it felt like a dog compared to the ripmo... I don't have overly difficult climbs on my test loop but in terms of efficiency, the ripmo was clearly faster and scoots up the trail quicker.
Remember that tires make a huge difference when comparing bikes. I rented a Ripmo and Switchblade in Moab this year. The Ripmo had anchors for tires (Maxxis Assegai) which made comparing the two completely unfair as it felt super sluggish.
@@erichay3956 Both bikes had Minion DHF front and rear. Offering was the X01 build, as seen on their website, Ripmo was a hodgepodge of lower end components except for the XT brakes and fox 36.. Offering was 140/150, Ripmo was 145/160. both fox 36 up front. suspension setup on both bikes was spot on, I do this myself. The Ripmo was heavier than the offering, I'd say 2-3 lbs. ultimately the offering was a more agile, precise, playful bike that climbed not only better that the Ripmo, but any other evil I've ridden, by a long shot (evil are typically ok climbers in my experience). They definitely changed something with he new offering. I literally cleared 99.99% of slick rock trail with the offering, pretty much non stop (had to take some occasional pics, such an amazing area), with ease. And that was after completing Moabs brands and whole enchilada (not in the same day of course, back to back days in that order). As much as I love descents, I love climbs and love the pain of climbing, The Ripmo just didn't respond as I expected both up and down. My guess is the extra travel, which I believe it does not need, made it feel clumsy. and again, I'm a big Ibis fan (absolutely LOVE climbing my Ripley) and plan on calling them this Thursday to tell them that a bike shop is renting their product not spec'ed to any of their builds. Not sure if they'll care but I think they should at least know about it.

Great review. Funny to see the bias though. One frame he talks about his X2 blowing up his 2nd or 3rd ride. Then shortly there after talking about how he had problems with the Switchblade shock, but his Ripmo has been perfect. 🤣
So I demoed most of the bikes you talked about and more. To me by far in Colorado the new Pivot 429 wins all day .... climbs well goes down very well and still kinda light....
I completely agree! The new T429 is a special bike.... maybe the best trail bike available right now. I just got one for myself and been loving it. It's a bit of a change from my current ibis ripley but for sure overall, the better trail bike. video on the T429 coming soon!!

Yeah, not trying to dog on other reviewers but I've never understood the standing in front of the camera and pointing out all the same stuff you could just go read on the bike brands website... a review is a description of what the bike does on the trail, how it might be different than the previous model or other bikes in the category. things like that... it was for this purpose I started doing bike reviews. I'm not good at writing but I feel like I can describe a bike pretty good so.... UA-cam videos has sort of become a thing for me! Grafton near St. George Ut is incredible. Will be down there in November!!

I owned a large ripmo v2 for a month this season and decided to sell it (I am 6'1" 195 riding weight). I also owned a Devinci Troy 2021 and am now on a Revel Rascal with a Lyrik. Before that I rode a SB5.5 and Niner Rip9. I thought the Ripmo was nice overall but steering was a little twitchy and under-steers in hard corners. It's a good climber but not great. It might be faster uphill than the Troy but it's not faster than the Rascal. Overall the Ripmo is not great steep or technical climber... I had to lean over the front pretty hard to keep the front wheel down. Not as much as my old SB5.5, but more than the Rascal or Troy.
I loved the Troy and should've kept it. For me, the Lrg Troy was noticeably better than the Lrg Ripmo. The Troy was super balanced and nimble (steering is neutral and stable, bike leans over side to side super quick), more stable downhill, a good climber and super comfortable on steep uphills (20+% grade)... actually the Troy is the most comfortable steep climber I have owned (the 440mm chainstays and ~77deg seat tube are great). The Troy is so comfortable, I felt like I could climb 30-40% more miles on it over the Ripmo, despite the Troy being a little heavier. To be fair, I had a coil shock and Nobl TR41 rims on the Troy vs. an X2 and Crankbrother synthesis carbon rims on the Ripmo. So some of steering and downhill comparison could be skewed by the shock and wheelset difference. The Nobl TR41's are absolutely dope, but the Synthesis rims are pretty damn great too. I will probably buy a used 2021 Troy frame at some point to try to recreate the magic.
The Rascal (super deluxe rear shock), while having less travel, doesn't feel like it gives much up to the Ripmo on the downhill but steers/handles and climbs better. It is also a more comfortable steep climber than the Ripmo, although not to the level of the Troy. That is my impression even though the overall build of my Revel is not 'yet' as good as my Ripmo was.

Strange, my ripmo doesn’t understeer at all and it’s the fastest bike I’ve been on downhill from strava. Was the bike big enough? I’m 6.2 and xl was perfect fit but I had a xl orbea occam before and had exact same comments as you. Used to understeer, twitchy steering and front used to lift up. Turns out it was too small for me so got rid of it.
@@RH-vp8gr You are right... I may have been happier on XL. But that being said... Ripmo's are so popular in general that I have seen a lot of them on the trail and I have seen other riders have the same issues. I have even seen guys on video here on youtube go down on their Ripmo due to the front tire washing out. Anyhow... just my experience. Ripmo is still a good bike. My opinions are ruined though by that Devinci Troy... that bike was great for me. The Rascal also has been really nice.
I wish IBIS would make a longer travel 29er. If IBIS made a 160r/170f travel 29er that could climb great then that would be a game changer.
I think you’re 100% on the right track here. I would be shocked if you didn’t see something like this from Ibis some time next year!!

I love my V1! It's a bold statement to say the Switchblade climbs better than the Ripmo. You know more though since I haven't ridden one before. The SB130 climbs great too, perhaps a tad better than the Ripmo. But all these bikes climb amazing! They're all winners in climbing and pedaling overall.
Yeah, the sb130 climbs good but doesn't descend as well as the switchblade or ripmo in my experience.... the ripmo is a special bike for sure!
This is the bike I really like. Aesthetics wise it does not really wow you but almost all the youtubers eho reviewed this bike can't seem to find any flaws. If I would be able to sell my stumpjumper this bike will definitely be on the top of the list! 😀

@@mtbyumyum 2019! Made sone upgrade with full dvo suspension. Dt swiss wheels laced to i9 hydras. I love it though but everytime I see a ripmo review it always triggers my new bike day juice 😅
Ordered mine 8/20, received 3/21. SLX build kit. Love the bike, like Jason said sporting, poppy and can handle gnar. My only complaints…2 things. The bottom bracket is low. You will pedal strike rocks and roots. Best to run 170mm cranks instead of 175. It could definitely use better frame protection. Agree on the tires, run them at 2.4. 👍

I'm shortish for a medium and I put 165s on and no strikes and couldn't tell the difference from the stock 170s but agree....the V2 BB is pretty low

YumYum…Salt Cycles built me an awesome Pivot Mach 6 mullet! I have the coil and I think it makes the Pivot’s stiffness more plush. The mullet also makes it fun and snappy. Thanks for the info and reviews. Dissector rear and DHR2 front. Tried multiple combos and this is the best all around. Never tried the Ibis but my God, the Pivot is soo gorgeous!

I have a ripmo and built it up to be more trail rather than enduro and have been enjoying it. I feel like heavier guys can appreciate this bike more as it’s still lively and pedals great for longer rides.
Right on! Yeah, most of my time on the Ripmo is spent trail riding... not crazy terrain

It doesn't hurt to try it... or spend the time and try and tune that x2 to your liking... I always struggled to get the x2 to feel as light and poppy as the dpx
After 3+ years with my V1 I'm still loving it, but my skills have improved to where I want a 2nd bike for the dedicated park days. Considering how capable the Rimpo is though, I'm thinking that only a real dual crown DH bike would make sense as a 2nd. Mayyyybe a Spire, Wreckoning, something like that, but even with those I'm thinking they'll feel kinda same-y next to the Ibis.

Thank you! I rode the previous gen Offering... such a fun bike but for whatever reason, wasn't a great climber. Which was a surprise because I always thought the wreckoning was a good climber for the longer travel category. The Offering was playful and jiby... that bike never got in the way of my riding and had a very easy and natural riding position.... climbing was behind the SC Hightower though... good luck!
Agree, I wanna see him review the v2 and not the v1 offering. Surprised he doesn’t like how it climbs, I came from a Ripmo af to the offering v2 and I can’t even tell a difference climbing
Thanks for giving a Sentinel/Ripmo comparison. Seems like there is more personal preference between bikes. I have the Ripmo V2 and love it!
Yeah, it's more than personal preference. those bikes are quite different. After riding them back to back, on the same day on the same trail, the Sentinel is a lot more work to pedal and toss around. More stable and planted and less willing to pop around without greater effort. Sort of wakes up at a much higher speed than the ripmo and overall just isn't as playful

Great job on the review Jason. For anyone getting one, just so you know Ibis really means it when they say 2.6 clearance in the rear for the frame. I put a 2.6 Rekon on the back with the stock Ibis 35mm ID rim which measures 2.59 and there’s like 2-3mm of clearance. Unfortunately one ride in a couple rocks got in there and scraped up the pinch spots. Not a flaw of the bike, but hopefully this helps someone.

Glad I could help! I know it's difficult now given the lack of demo bikes.... If your speed is high and regularly ride chunder, the Ripmo is an excellent, maybe the best, do it all bike!

Both are very good... I think most people would prefer the Ripmo... It's slightly more easy going and balanced making it more approachable for more people. It's also a very good value. Call Chris at Salt cycles and see if he can get you set up on a good deal! 801-943-8502

Hey @mtb yumyum, for starters I love the channel man, keep it up! Have you considered trying out a cascade components linkage for this bike? Would be really interesting to get your take. I've been on the rip V2 for a couple months now but having a hard time getting the topaz dialed in how I'd like so thinking about giving the cascade a go. BTW, thanks for loving the bike so much and validating my purchase lol
I tried the cascade link on a yeti sb130lr… didn’t notice that much difference but I didn’t spend a lot of time on it. Sorry I can’t be more help
Awesome review! Could you do one for RM Instinct? I know the short term review is out there but would love to see a long term. Feel like the Instinct isn't talked about enough or hyped up, I think it's a great/versatile bike.

I'm glad more and more people see that overbiking has been and still is a trend. Most people need less than they choose, and that does not just involve bicycles.
It's better to point out the elephant in the room, so that things like this can be put to rest.
To each their own but honestly, I think most people don't even realize they don't need as much bike as them have and they're not even aware of home much fun and how capable shorter travel bikes are. Same is true w tires....

Great long term review. DPX2 seems like the ideal shock for this bike. A lot of people have blown up x2s. Coil seems like a bit of an odd choice for a dwlink bike, I’m sure it works fine, but it kind of nullifies some of this bike’s characteristic strengths.
Having ridden both I liked the X2 better. The DPx2 was okay(but it came with Ibis’s traction tune) which I did not like. But even with the largest spacer I would bottom out too much. The X2 with two volume spacers was perfect for me on that bike and didn’t take away any energy or playfulness that that bike had to offer. A regular non “traction tune” DPX2 may have been a little better, but the ripmo is not progressive, or long travel enough for bigger hits for the DPx2. Unless you’re Jeff Kendall Weed and you have ninja powers.
Yeah, I've really enjoyed the dpx2 and just makes the bike feel a little lighter and quicker.... I understand why it comes with the X2 but for my speed and trails, dpx2 is prefered. The coil was sort of an "out of the blue" situation.... when I blew up the X2, Chris at Salt suggested just trying the coil seeing how I had never ridden a coil before and Ibis offers it this way.... I agree, it wasn't my favorite but was fun to try and see how different it was.
I recently put the newer Float X factory on my V1 Ripmo, replacing the stock DPX2. It's an upgrade in almost every way. Small bump compliance is plusher, and support in mid stroke and bottom out is better (with the DPX2 I had the largest volume reducer even though I'm only about 172lbs, on the Float X the stock spacer is AOK even on big jumps and gnarly downhill). I highly suggest it, worth every penny.

Seems a great bike, nice to see you uploading again. I've prioritized the climbing of the Switchblade over this bike, but I'm curious about the issue you ran into on the custom DPX2 on the Pivot. I'm similar to you 5'10 140 lbs, except skills, ha ha!
The SB would get harsh at the highest speeds over consistent chunky sections. Like the bike would slowly start to get bucked around for me and if the chunk was sustained for more than just 10 seconds, it was light the shock couldn't keep up.... and would start to get super chattery.... like the rebound was set too fast. Only, it wasn't. If I slowed the shock down it would pack out. I really think I got the shock set up correctly but the bike was just too stiff for me when I really started pushing the limits of the bike... high speed.... possible the shock tune was just too heavy and if I were to keep the SB long term, I would have had the shock re-valved for a lighter tune

I have a new Switchblade and I am also 140 pounds. I was able to get the shock dialed in one ride. Removing the volume spacer was the key for me! I also have the new Trail 429. I tend to grab that bike over all my other bikes here in northern Utah.

Great review! I live n the northeast where there is punchy ups and downs and tons of rocks and roots . Would the ripmo be the right bike ? I’m coming from a ht so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I’m slower so I’ll never be ripping to fast besides some lift flow trails
Hey man great review. I k is this video is a couple years old, but I was wondering what your thoughts are in the 2023 coming with the bomber Z1 fork and marzocchi air shock? Not sure if the extra weight on the fork will affect performance negatively, or if it’s worth it for the weight. I could try to find a 2022 with the DVO air suspension, or even with the coil shock. Do you have any input on this? Haven’t found any reviews differentiating the bomber vs. DVO feeling. Any input is greatly appreciated!
hmm. I'm a big guy, 240lbs and dropping. Hope to get to around 200. Wondering if the Ripley af or Ripmo af would be better for bigger riders. No looking to do anything insane, just want a good all around mt/trail bike.
If you're down hill speeds arn't going to be consistently over 18 mph, I'd go with the Ripley AF. Here: bit.ly/3y9Oglu The Ripley will be the more rewarding bike to ride as it will be more fun at speeds below 20 mph, climb better and just feel more lively and quick! The Ripley AF is an incredible do-everything trail bike!
I love my Ripmo. Got the DVO stuff. I liked it at first but it has lost its luster. I swapped the topaz for a fox x2 and what a difference. I am getting a fox 36 and ditching the onyx

Questions: We are close to the same size and I was wondering what air pressures and rebound settings you like on the Ripmo? I'm running the same suspension but on the V1. Also what size dropper have you been able to fit? Mine came with the 160 and I have close to 4 inches of post showing so I could use a longer post. I'm probably an inch taler than you. FYI , can't get enough of the kids ripping it up in the backyard on the Moto's!! Too fun.
Haha yeah. I love the mini moto track in the back yard!! So fun! I sold the ripmo about 3 weeks ago so I no longer have it. I run the rebound fast… maybe 5 clicks from full fast and slow it down as needed. Good luck!

Thanks for the detailed review. I'm trying to decide between a Ripmo and Stumpjumper EVO. You mentioned in your SJ video that you left the chain stay in the high position to avoid pedal strikes. Did you notice many pedal strikes with the Ripmo? I ride in Tucson where we have incredible trails but abundant opportunities for pedal strikes.
I've spent a lot of time on the ripmo and wouldn't say it suffers from pedals strike more than other bikes... not an issue! Good luck!

I like the bike better w the dpx2. I don’t see it as a down grade… just a different experience. The new Fox float X that replaced the previous dpx2 is even better🤘

Hi, would you be able to provide some guidance on how to pick the right size ibis if between sizes? The ibis ripley reach is maybe too short on small but too long on medium. I’ve read some advice that suggests everyone should size down given new geometry. If you buy a bike that is too big, what kind of adjustments can you make, just shorten the stem?
5’10” tall 32 1/2” inseam. I went from stumpjumper Medium to a Mojo 4 Large and its been spot on! I do have a 32mm stem with a 1/2” Spacer
Without knowing your exact size/height, I hesitate to say to much and possibly point you in the wrong direction... I'm 5'8" on a Medium Ripmo w 750mm bars and 35mm stem
I have a 55mm stem on my size Medium Ripley.... good luck!
Do you find the switchblade to be a little quicker around a tight corner with the shorter chain-stays and steeper HTA?
Good question. They’re both really good. Probably best in category. Geo on the Switchblade is about perfect for a trail bike… any maybe slightly quicker around corners but you’re splitting hairs. Good luck!

I feel like the ripmo is more enduro oriented, however I ride it on my local trails!! I would love to shred some weight of from my v2. Any recommendations? I have a XT built
Tires are the easies and most affordable way to drop weight. If your terrain allows for less protection and traction, you might really enjoy a more "trail" oriented tire like the Rekon or Ardent Race. I absolutely love the 2.4 Rekon front and rear. Carbon wheels is the next best way to drop weight, particularly rolling weight, and speed up your bike!
Mine came with a Fox X2 on the XT build (which weighs over 600 grams!!), you can drop almost a pound if you go with a different rear shock without the piggyback (I have a few shocks but I have a 2019 float evol that weighs like 225 grams and feels pretty good for more pedal focused days).
I wasn’t sure if you responded to comments; I left a question asking your recommendations between a Propain Tyee, the Yeti SB150, and the Rocky Mountain Altitude.

From Freeride/Chairlift to enduro type trails (Arizona, to Woodsy trails).

The SB150 feels like a really big bike for regular trails where the RM Altitude can still handle all the big stuff just like the sb150 but maybe a little more fun on slower speed trails.

Climbs better for sure. Offering is a fun bike but slightly more planted feeling and feels a little longer….. not sure if it actually is.

It really comes down to speed / terrain. So really consider how fast your speed is and possible, how much you'll be in the air doing jumps and drops. A Ripley with aggressive tires and 140mm Pike or Fox 36 can get me just about anywhere I need to go in Utah. Good luck!

2 weeks ago, picked up a RipMo V2 with the Fox38...Wanted a bike to handle the PNW chund'er and bigger trails better. I have a Tallboy3 that I use for XC racing and longer easy trail rides. I am wondering what Enve rims you went with on your RipMo? I still have the Ibis 35mm alu-wheels but comparing some carbon wheels to throw on. I am thinking about going with 30mm-id to get those tires a bit more round again. They feel a touch squared off at 35mm-id rims. Any thoughts you have or care to share? TIA...

I bought a 2019 Ripmo V1 in March of 2020 because I loved the quick nimble feel of the V1. The bike has been flawless but the Factory 36 fork has not been stellar. I have removed one of the tokens, run up to 25% sag, opened up the high and low speed compression settings and at 205 pounds I still have yet to use the last 1-1.5” of travel. It feels harsh even soft and opened up. I have heard of over greased air chamber can cause these symptoms and I cleaned some of the excess grease out of the air chamber but it didn’t make a difference. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do to free it up? I have ridden one other factory 36 and it was the plushest and best fork I ever ridden. This one needs something. Any help would be appreciated.
