Idli and dosai are not Sri Lankan food. You are eating from Indian restaurants in Sri Lanka. Ranbath serves Sri Lankan food.

We know. But there is clearly a huge Tamil population so Idli and Dosai seemed to have made their way in Sinhalese homes. Next to India, Sri Lanka seems to be the biggest spot for Dosai and idli. From what I’ve seen around Asia.
But they are definitely of Indian origin.

💯 Sri Lanka has been an international destination for thousands of years. So many dishes from around the world came to Sri Lanka in addition to hundreds of Sri Lankan dishes. Anything cooked with coconut milk or coconut basically Sri Lankan foods. There are many other Sri Lankan dishes made without coconut also. Wadai, Dosai, etc are from South Indians, and Rolls, Cutlets, Patis, Bread are from the Portuguese and other Western nations.
