My favorite album of the 20s so far. The lead singer of the album quit the band 2 days prior the release day. The band now uses 3 of the members as singers. They released a live performance showcase with new songs and they are just as good as their previous projects.
i disagree about the live album being as good as their previous album, the songwriting is a lot less interesting and no one can really replace what isaac did
The live album is great considering the context that they had to throw the songs together at short notice for their live tour, but I wouldn't say it's on par with the first 2 albums.
So rad seeing you react to this! I've been a bit rabbit-holed on a few bands in the past decade or two (like Radiohead), and at the end of last year I decided to start being a bit more adventurous, reached out to my friend who introduced me to Radiohead and asked for things he was listening to. Black Country New Road was one of them, and it was so alien to me I just bounced off it hard. Came back to it a month ago and was like "holy crap this is amazing, what is wrong with me??" :P So it's great seeing you react to them, as well as all your Radiohead adventures :) My other discoveries: Big Thief (may well be my favourite band after Radiohead now), Mitski, Better Oblivion Community Center, Warpaint, The Beths, Wet Leg. Feels kinda great to get out of my comfort zone!
Honestly was such an amazing project to check out. Not knowing what to expect was such a highlight and all the surprises that came along with this album was unreal. Love to hear you are getting out of your comfort zone really does allow you to check out some great sounds and connect with new fanbases
Amazing album! I'd highly recommended their first album, also the new live album they just dropped is absolutely amazing too. Also since you're getting into this band I'd also recommend another band from the same area called "black midi", they've played with each other a lot and they're both two of the best bands in the world right now. Great video, keep it up!
Two years on. I never tire of AFUT. One of the most beautiful albums of the rock era. Full of great moments lyrically and musically. I hold out hope that Isaac isn't done yet. It's inconceivable.
there’s few black country songs that don’t bring me to tears. they’re so emotionally evocative and i love them so much. i really love the new direction they’re heading in but damn i’ll miss isaac.
black midi Schlagenheim or Hellfire at some point !! theyre from the same scene as BCNR but are VERY different. black midi would be the type of reaction id love to watch just to see your wtf factor rather than enjoyment haha - they are not particularly accessible on first listens but when they click they click hard
You should check out Swans. They're a band that has evolved a lot since the 80s, from releasing noise rock to goth folk to a soundtrack for a film that doesn't exist and especially their more drawn-out albums from the 2010s, they're a truly special band. The number one album to check out is To Be Kind, their most infamous work, released in 2014. It is an album full of grooves, energy, atmosphere and crescendos. This album changed my perspective of music from being cool sounds to magical and captivating experiences. Definitely check em out.
Haldern is such a masterpiece to me. I know this might sound weird but the horn in the last bit of it sounds incredibly similar to a panic attack, the whole song is amazing at conveying emotional overload
You should definitely check the other studio album "For the First Time" and the the live album without the lead singer "Live at Bush Hall", great reaction!
Finally, the release I've been waiting for has arrived :'), and I'm looking forward to seeing your reactions to the other 2 projects of this band in your upcoming videos, where they explore different genres and styles that are equally amazing. Long live BC,NR!!!"
would love to see you do some post-rock considering the post rock influences on this album, Lift your skinny fists by Godspeed you black emperor is a good place to start
One of my favorite albums of all time, but I think I like their first one, "For The First Time", even better. It's more experimental and a bit heavier. Hope you react to it too!
I don’t think I would say it’s actually heavier. Some song climaxes and moments are heavier on AFUT than anything on FTFT, but the latter is more consistently energetic.
From here you should listen to For The First Time, their debut album, and black midi; a band that came up from the same scene as BC,NR and makes some really interesting stuff as well
u should check out dogsbody by model/actriz, it's one of the grittiest and dark alt albums i've ever heard. or the seldom seen kid by elbow!! it's my second favourite album behind in rainbows :) cool to be discovering music with u
You should def check out more Post-Rock like Slint’s Spiderland and Sigur Rós’ Ágætis Byrjun or you can check out Black Country, New Road’s first album too!
Hey man I love your reactions! So pure and full of emotional thoughts! I wonder what could be your reaction to the album "Ray of Light" by Madonna! A real masterpiece dated 1998 but Madonna is often underrated... Please consider it 😉
"Oh your generous loan to me / Your crippling interest" never fails to make me cry 😭 absolutely love this album, and this was a great reaction! ants from up there, in rainbows, and bcnr's first album always make up my top 3 albums and the order is solely determined by whichever i listened to most recently, so if you liked those other two then please make sure to listen to all the other commenters in here telling you to react to For The First Time (you can get to some black midi stuff and dogsbody by model/actriz afterwards). awesome stuff dude
@@cavemanjack im so jealous of ur ability to simultaneously hear and appreciate the sound of the music while also picking up on the lyrical themes to as deep of a degree as you do on a first listen ! whats ur secret
Yo bro, I recommend you do toxicity by system of a down. Absolute masterpiece in the metal community. And I’m not even a massive metal guy but that album man… LISTEN TO IT!!!
@@cavemanjack yess! You gotta take a listen to toxicity, i rarely buy vinyls and my collection is really picky and small and toxicity found its place there along with this black country new road album
I've never heard anyone compare marks theme to kingdom hearts and that's actually so accurate :,)) loved the reaction,, always love seeing others appreciating this album :)
This Album is great, if u liked it this much maybe u could listen to Hellfire by Black Midi, they are from the same wave tho a bit more experimental than this
Those albums are cornerstones of music and as a result I'm fairly confident he will have heard them already (I mean who involved in music hasn't heard dark side of the moon?)

That's such a wild story, would be very interesting to hear that live performance album!
@@cavemanjack the audio quality of the live performance is as impressive as the songs themselves. It sounds great.
idk man my favorite album of the 20s would probably be a Louis Armstrong album
Incredible, incredible record. Definitely recommend you listen to their debut as well as their latest live album!

Glad to see you react to afut as this is one of my all-time favourites, incredibly emotional and beautiful. Best of 2022 imo.
Also might I mention that there aren't any samples in this album, it's all performed by 7 incredibly talented musicians!
that's wild, such a great album, sounds were sooo rich

To be able to capture that feeling using instruments is such talent
@@cavemanjack Seriously, especially with so many people, I could never imagine being in a band with that much chemistry
One of my favorite albums ever, I would love to see your thoughts on their debut, much more punk and crazier sounds sonically!
Its on the list for sure now!
hyper based pfp
fun fact this album was dropped the day i broke up with my girlfriend, good comfort listen.
You should definitely check the other studio album "For the First Time" and the the live album without the lead singer "Live at Bush Hall", great reaction!

YESSS
yeahh, you reacted to it. glad you liked it!
Thanks for the video man! You gotta hear their debut album when you get a chance. Completely different than this, but equally awesome.
Thanks Cole, would love to return to their sound
My favorite album of last year by far, loved this reaction, got a sub and new fan here! Would love to see you check out ‘Have A Nice Life’.
Thanks for the sub! Was such an amazing project so glad I checked it out

Great album, indeed. Been going warm the past month

Now you have to do Black Midi😊
I sure do!

Very interesting. Thanks for the into! Feels like Bon Iver on steroids.
hahah love that take!
my favourite track was Concorde first, then it was Bread Song and now it's Haldern
I was TPWHITB --> Basketball Shoes --> Concorde --> Haldern. We ended up at the same place :)
Don't worry about not taking everything in on the first listen. This album has a lot of relisten value. Just enjoy yourself 😁
basketball shoes is in my opinion the best song of the 2000’s
Basketball shoes is definitely one of the best songs ive heard in a while
Unreal song, and quite the ride haha
