I never expected them to reach this level...I was a fan of the first album, but didn't think it was perfect or anything. There is legitimately nothing I would change about this record, it's completely flawless.
As a musician this album depresses me, theres no way in hell I'll ever produce something this beautiful, profound and complete as this album. It was a pleasure experiencing it with you
I experienced the same thing with Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly. Knowing damn well I could never create anything on that level. Amd it single handedly killed my career. Now I'm a geographer. Lol. But this album is great too, in my top 100 favorite all time.
Album of the decade. Music this good comes around once or twice a decade, and for me belongs in the pantheon of indie rock music. Top-4 album all time.
If this is Isaac's farewell then this is quite fitting, such an amazing album and experience. All i can do is wish Isaac Godspeed and thanks for this masterpiece.
Probably the most emotional I’ve been listening to an album in a while, not even just Isaac’s departure from the band but the theme of relationships and change struck a chord with me (not to mention the gorgeous, lush and grand instrumentation is a perfect backdrop for these lyrics). No doubt a 10/10 in my mind
Really glad the climax of Concorde hit you like it did; I like looking up people's reactions to that moment specifically, because I think it's a very incredible moment.
As I have previously said on some other sites, I was, yes a young man when I first heard Joy Division's beautiful dirge "Decades" which was a suicidal synthesized keyboard lament that was the last cut on the LP 'Closer'. I was a slightly older young man when I first heard the deceptively slight but ultimately emotionally devastating "Perfect Circle" by R E M off of their first full length release 'Murmur.' Since then over the years, I have heard songs by Fleet Foxes, Animal Collective, and My Bloody Valentine among others that are gut spillers, but "Snow Globes" is the ULTIMATE in Catharsis-it's listening to a complete emotional breakdown in real time. What a beautiful song from a fantastic album.
haldern still holds up as one of the best songs I've ever heard. this whole album as a whole is just absolutely untouchable. I've genuinely never heard anything like this, it's probably the easiest 10/10 I've ever heard
The comment about the piano can be explained easily ! The pianist is fantastic, and she’s at music college in London I think. There’s been videos floating about of a final recital she did playing some of the greatest romantic composers. When you are surrounded by the classics, and melody so refined but powerful it will let itself into what you write. This album is the perve t balance between pop culture references and classical training.
for the first time is one of my favorite albums of all time, top 6 even, so i desperately kept my expectations down in case it was disappointing. but hooooooooooooooly shit this is even better. how the fuck did they put out both of these albums within a year of each other, i was in shock listening to AFUT because of how good it was genuinely. it feels like these 2 bcnr albums check every single box about what i love in music and its just so good god. i was in tears listening as well so you're definitely not alone there haha
Yo dude the Concore is now defunct high-speed plane that stopped flying since one blew up. If you look into it you'll see how this plane perfectly matches up with a lot of the themes explored. It means a lot of things but this is the direct reference. Great video btw!
I dont know if it has to do with anything, but one of them blowing up, them being speed planes, made me think he didn't want to be another ian curtis(Professor Skye said that about why him leaving is good) he left because he saw a concorde went high and fast but blew up before, and it took flight similarly to him maybe, idk if im misinterpreting or making the wrong connections
23:19 I felt that too! I was like "I've already heard this before!" and then I remembered what I thought it sounded like: the very first seconds of the song sound similar to Chopin's Nocturne in E flat major, which is a very known piece, which is why it may have felt familiar. that is what it reminded me of at least
before this album came out i’ve been losing interest in music, and nothing was hitting , but when i listened to this album it like sparked my love for music again 🙏🏻
I'm really glad this album is affecting so many people. For me it has honestly never clicked emotionally but I still love this album to pieces.
