It is a very hard subject to talk about, but we have to bc so many kids have been through this that don't say anything.... And when they do as kids they aren't taken serious and when they do as adults it's too late... So sorry you had to go through this experience too! I would not wish it on anyone! Little girls are sexualized at a very young age, but people don't bat an eye when a little boy is and that shit needs to stop! Bc it happens to both!

Rough first listen to Korn. This one can scare a lot of people off, but they are such an amazing band. They had a TON of songs that spoke to the kids like me who were the angry depressed kids in the 90's and early 2000's and let us know we weren't alone. I'm here for any other songs of theirs you decide to check out, they're amazing.
Yup, I was one of those kids in tx, I hated school and used music as an outlet, I would load my dad's. 357 Smith n Wesson revolver and just point it at the mirror listening to this. Thinking of all the dumazzis I wanted to take out in school, and this was in the late 90s, no security measures barely. It wasn't until Columbine happened in 99, which shockedvall of us, and turned mean kids nicer, that I realized none of this was worth it, and it would be over soon, and I'd be in college. College was one of the happiest times of my life, and I was able to reach out to troubled kids assigned to me for the big brother program and get them on track.

I saw an interview with Johnathon Davis, he actually did go through this… that’s why he had a meltdown in the studio, it had to be therapeutic for him. Such a sad song.

When I said check out korn, maybe I should have told you a song to start. This is Def a hard song but it's so powerful. The lead singer was molested by a family friend who was his babysitter. He told his parents but they didn't believe him and it went on for a while. Go deeper down this rabbit hole. Blind, got the life, breaking me down, freak on a leash, yall want a single......the list goes on and on for them.

Sheet, I would've gone back and given them the1980 Santa Fe prison riot treatment, when the prisoners rioted and overtook the prison. They were doing construction in the prison and the inmates took the blowtorches and torched the bars into the protective housing unit. They then had free access to the protected inmates who they dismembered and blowtorched their faces off for being snitches or sex offenders. Police outside wouldn't do anything despite the screams from victims because they were unsure of there were prison guards being assaulted, so sorry.....😮😅

No, that's misinformation online. I listened to an interview with Ross Robinson (producer) and it was someone associated with his mother. Ross actually requested a different song, but she did this one as well and they went with it instead.
The 90s was different. Bands made music that was meaningful and unfiltered. It wasn't commercial and fake the way music is now.

Then you grow up and hear this song and think OMG...there are other people out there that know exactly how I feel...I am not alone.... Finally

someone should have warned you. Jonathan let all his trauma out on this track. it never gets easier to listen to. the only thing i know for sure is how incredibly brave Jonathan Davis was to allow this to be released so it could shine a light on it and let other survivors know they were not alone. Also, there are lots of hidden things on albums from back then.
The ending was a hidden track and wasn't related to the rest of the song. The story of what happened was that someone affiliated with the band had found it while cleaning a house where a couple had recently moved out of and after realizing what was on the tape, it made its way to the album's producer who placed it as a hidden track. The woman on the tape, Geri, had been recording Michael as he was a war vet with PTSD who refused to seek counselling. She'd record outbursts Michael had in order to convince him to go to counselling or therapy, which he eventually would. They didn't even realize the tape was on the album until 2019 when one of their grandchildren recognized Michael's voice on the tape. They apparently stayed married until Geri passed away in 2021.

How do you know that stuff about their back story? Don’t take what I’m about to say of me accusing you of being wrong because it’s not meant to, but the story has always stopped at the tape being found and put onto the album as a hidden track. I mean when it comes to public knowledge of its origin, that’s where the story has always ended for years. How do you know about everything else after that point? Not that I don’t believe you, it’s just that I haven’t seen that information anywhere else so I don’t know where that came from.
the ending is called michael & Geri. its a found footage. it was found in an abandonned house.
I remember seeing them live. Then going to a diner after their show and Jonathan Davis (the lead singer) and the rest of the band coming in and sitting next to me and my friends. We Introduced ourselves and they were all so cool. There was so many people saying they were dicks back then but they were amazing when we met them. The drugs really took a toll on them for years.
Between hearing this AND “Kill You,” those two songs speaks volumes as to what he truly felt about his childhood! JD is a great man and those songs definitely took some heart to get through! ❤
The shit happens all over the country and all over the world, in my personal opinion, the band Korn was extremely brave for touching on the subject. Most people are too scared to talk about or they ignore it because it’s such a horrible issue. If anything, they raised awareness about this horrible subject, and the lead singer, Jonathan Davis was able to get this terrible shit off of his chest. I went through similar shit as a child and this song 100% save my life. Because I realized I was not alone.

I bought this album when it came out. I first heard this song when I was 10 years old. It made me ball my eyes out. I have tried to avoid it most of my life. It's a song I have only listened to a couple of times since then, usually by accident. In their book Johnathan opens up about this song and how hard it is for him to perform it. It was an extremely personal release of something that was destroying him. It is a song that should have never had to be made but in a way is needed so all the voiceless victims had at least one voice to cry it out for them.
I believe Korn only played this song live once.

Always been a huge fan of Korn. He was molested by a close family friend and his parents didn't believe him. The end when he's crying, he gave the band strict instructions to keep playing the music no matter what. And that female voice singing to him at the end is Johnathans sister. Song is definitely heavy. Good for him tho for getting it out. Sadly too many people live with these secrets and let it eat at them with no release. To anyone who's ever been a victim of assault, know you are never alone.

This is a difficult song to listen to but it's a important one to listen to at least once.
I’m a massive KoRn fan and I’ll tell you right now that this is certainly not the most ideal song to start listening to KoRn with. It’s an incredibly important yet horribly tragic song. If you prefer Hip-Hop I’d still recommend not just KoRn but lots of other Nu-Metal bands aswell. (If your not familiar with Nu-Metal, it’s basically a combination of Rap/Hip-Hop, and Heavy Metal). KoRn has done a cover of the song “Wicked” by Ice Cube featuring Chino Moreno, who is the lead singer of another Nu-Metal band, Deftones. So if you want something still vaguely familiar in terms of sound that’s what I’d recommend.
first time I heard this song I cried. hearing this was such a relief. I knew that I wasn't alone. This song helped me. I don't know how but it helped me in the darkest times.

As someone that went through this as a kid, it helped knowing that I wasn't alone. I cried along with Jonathan many times through the years. When this came out, it was truly groundbreaking. To anyone that's been through this, you aren't alone!

That’s really him having a real breakdown, PTSD. He didn’t want them to record it. His babysitter abused him now she has passed away . I saw them play them play this live which he said he never would but they came out with 20th anniversary tour and played it front to back.

I still don’t know why or where the ending recording came from. At first I thought that it might have been an old recording of his parents arguing or something but that’s not his parents names so I really don’t have a clue.
It's a rough song for sure. What JD endured as a child is awful and while it shows in a lot of his music, this one is definitely the hardest to get through. Been listening to Korn since the 90's and I usually skip this song or not add it to my playlists (it's just too much.) I'm glad you listened to it if only to gain some insight into his life. Some other tracks you need to hear are Falling Away From Me, Freak On a Leash, Blind, Alone I Break, Got The Life, Coming Undone, Thoughtless.

This is the hardest song to listen to ever, I feel. Simply because of how hard to hear it is. People like is that have experienced this type of abuse and more it felt like we finally found an outlet. We listened to this song over and over and it helped us make it through.
This song is 100% real and him breaking down is 100% real. The woman singing is his sister or step sister or something like that singing to try and calm him down.

The producer pushed for him and did not stop recording nor let the band stop... They kept working with him for a while and stopped for a bit until Jonathan began to feel better. I don't remember when they got back with him, I stopped knowing "everything" about koRn around the time Head left... When he came back in 2013, I was able to listen to koRn again...they felt incomplete to me...it made me sad. Now at 37, Fieldy is on a hiatus but I have so many bands that I love... I have to distribute the love.

I always tear up especially near the end because I feel it. I was exposed to sex at an early age, I'll leave it at that. "Maybe that's why I'm the way I am and it's my fault" and always hearing "what's wrong with you?" or "what is your problem?" from family and friends is something I lived with for a long time. Now I'm studying mental health because I want to be the opposite of the counselor/therapist that were never there for me or never took me seriously.

Ross Robinson was the producer on this album. My boss was his father. Jonathon Davis told Ross not to stop recording. At the end you can hear the door opening. That was the rest of the band going into the room to console him. Jonathon poured his deepest pain into this track.

VERY HARD TO LISTEN TO... A real rollercoaster of a track. Gives me the throat lump and tears in the eyes every damn time. But it grows into more of a therapeutic song as you listen more, once you know the story Cliff. It's the rawest track I've ever heard. Jonathon left it all out there during recording. This is real emotion, and that's what makes it so hard to listen to. plus it's all REAL.

Korn tends to throw random snippets of dialogue in the ending of certain songs, so that's all that was about. This is definitely a hard song to get through. The first time I heard this song I was about 10-11 years old as I've always been a huge fan of Korn, and I was completely shocked and sick to my stomach as well, as well as crying my eyes out, it still makes me tear up and make my stomach jump to this day..
Anyways, the song here to stay by Korn is really good, it's really groovy and heavy.
Korn mixes a lot of hip-hop/ funky elements in their music, so if any hip-hop heads would listen to metal, Korn is probably the best band for that. The percussion and bass is definitely hip-hop influenced. I grew up a rap head as well, but Korn was the first band that got me into metal. Great reaction man

This art was to comfort the disturbed who have had some problems like …. The song. And soooooo at 12 early 2000s head banging to this screaming felt good. telling everyone who asks what’s ur favorite song just to say: daddy. Feels like im setting them up to this day. But really its art and this wasn’t unexpected bc … sometimes you gotta expect lot worse from rock genre’s depending on the band and genre of them. It shocked me but I didn’t react like… most ppl??? I remember first hearing this when it first came out, it shocked me and made me feel scared and sad before I even realised what was being sung about - powerful and heart wrenching to be catapulted into a childhood so far away from my own experience of safety and happiness. Hats off to Jonathan for shining a light on this unthinkable darkness. Good musicians really do make you think and take you out of your comfort zone. Like isn't all roses and rainbows sadly.
I think it was wrong of the person who suggested you do this, they should have given you some kind of warning instead of throwing you in at the deep end.

This is a rough first song to start on the Korn journey. Specially if you don't know before what this song is about. But nonetheless is a great song taht helped many people who gone through this exact shit. Being a Korn's fan since they came out, this song is still hard to hear, but definitely a must. Johnathan Davis is a great artist and an amazing human being.
