@@tdomonique504 I don't remember thinking anything else about it when I saw this movie as a kid. I wasn't even 10 yet. Was it done well? Meh, it did have a theme and not much different of a plot than the rest of the franchise. Freddy tries to find a way to gain access to more kids after finishing getting his revenge with the kids of the parents that killed him. Used a body of a teenager, still terrorizing, uses teenager's dream power to get to more kids, uses dreams of child to get to more kids, uses daughter's body to break free of town to gain access to new kids... etc.

@@rmhartman New Nightmare was basically Wes Cravens original plan for Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors but Newline said no they wanted to keep Freddy in the dream world! And as for the second film in the franchise. Nightmare on Queer Street 2? Wes Craven had nothing to do with that movie as he originally wanted the original to be a stand alone film and believe it or not wanted it to have a happy ending. A similar situation would take place during the production of Deadly Friend were Wes originally wanted it to be a sci fi supernatural love story. But when test audiences booed and said where's the blood and horror he is best known for? He went back and recut the movie and added more blood, horror and gore. The ending where Samantha attacks and kills Paul was supposed to be a dream sequence. 🎩🧤🤖🎥

So, it says "10 years from now".. however.. the timeline only works if you consider it 10 years from when the first movie takes place.. which puts this movie the year it came out, so the music, pop culture references, the clothing style, and the town being back to normal for FvJ all actually makes sense

The Friday franchise jumps all over the place too. I think by the time you get to part 8 it’s in the 2000s or something. It’s a movie, it’s not the real world. So it’s an alternate universe where the the 2000s is still like the 80s lol. Also, New Nightmare takes place in the “real world” and Jason X takes place after FvJ, so final nightmare and final friday are the last ones before FvJ and it makes no attempt to explain how Freddy or Jason got out of hell after their “final” movies.

Great glad to help lol...

There is a fan theory out there that goes a long way to explain why the town is the way it is. And that's through jacob.
The theory goes that sometime during Jacob's early childhood, he started dreaming about freddy again as a toddler/child - inheriting both alice's natural daydreaming powers and kristen's "pulling people in" powers, the tiny little guy had no control or awareness of what he was doing and ended up being a tool for freddy to kill all the kids at the local school... driving the parents mad.
Alice might've learned how to control both her powers and the powers of her dead friends she absorbed - but jacob would've been pulling people in awake and asleep before he could walk.

A lot of questions they have about this movie, they'd know the answers to if they were paying attention to the movie. This is what happens when you talk over plot points. Freddy wanted his daughter back because he killed everyone in the town and he needed a blood relative to get out of the town he was trapped in. He used her like a bus. Once they left Springwood, Freddy was free and clear. Katherine wasn't being terrorized because she wasn't in Springwood. He couldn't leave the town. Just like a ghost can't leave their haunting. Freddy's haunting was Springwood. That's why Nancy survived for so long. She didn't come back to Springwood until Part 3

"I wish we saw him be like 'I've been waiting my whole life to tag-team' with you."
That, precisely, was in the script!
Here's the exchange they have while they're fighting at the end--
Freddy: Give daddy back his glove so we can be together. I can fix it so you can live forever.
    Maggie: Oh, like you?
    Freddy: No. Better than me.
Whether you believe it or not, "Freddy's Dead" was very popular when it came out. It was the sort of movie wide audiences wanted out of Freddy at the time (nobody was scared of Freddy by 1991). Hardcore horror fans always hated it because it wasn't scary (though it was never meant to be scary).

You would think that, yes; but according to almost every stuntman I've ever seen talking about favorite stunts, anything where they get tossed around - whether it's in a fight where they throw themselves into things, or the actors literally flipping them end ove end, or wires pulling all over the place into the air or getting launched off of springboards - they LOVE that shit. Whoever the stunt guy was who rolled down that hill.....he was having the best day ever. You can actually see where he did stop, but then gets up only enough to keep throwing himself down the hill. That dude was living his best life in that moment.

The reason her 3d glasses disappeared was because when the movie came out in theaters you put your 3d glasses on when she does and the rest of the movie was 3d .. that's why the explosion and the way it's shot is so in your face.. this movie was shot with 3d in mind.

First of all, I love you guys! You are the main draw to me this channel. Now...SOOOOO GLAD you felt the way you did about this movie. I hated it when i saw it in the theatre (yes,, i'm that old - even older considering i saw the original Friday the 13th and F13 Part 2 as a double feature when F13 Part 2 was released nationally in 1981, and this was my introduction to modern horror, not to mention was responsible for me not being able to sleep for a week. So by the time NOES came out in 84, (and later, Hellraiser in 1987) i was fully vested into the franchise, and while each film had its quirky, and sometimes very confusing storytelling, but at least 1-5 had an idea, a concept that continues to feature fleshed out characters (some better than others) and maintained some sense of continuity... and this one came out, proclaiming to be "The Final Nightmare" so i had really high expectations, especially the fact that Rachel Talalay, who had been affiliated with EVERY film from line director all the way to director of this film, and to say i was disappointed is an understatement. Thankfully, this was NOT the final nightmare, and in 1994, original creator/director Wes Craven brought us back to a whole fever dream with the lines blurred between the real and dream worlds, and best of all it brings back one of the GOAT Final Girl, Heather Langenkamp, and i won't spoil anything about this film but OMGf!!!! What a high note for Craven to put a PERIIOD on the story as he saw fit.
OK, my rant is over. LIke i said, you guys are the best, and Greg damn well better let you continue your Friday the 13th reactions. And i will getting my REJECT sweatshirt very soon.

The basic premise is that Freddy needed a blood relation to leave Springwood. He attached himself to her to get out. He has killed every child in Springwood which has driven the adults insane. He killed his wife in front of his daughter who, in turn, told on him. This led the parents of Springwood to discover who had been killing their children. Someone in the prosecutors office screwed up on the paperwork and Freddy was freed on a technicalitie. This led the parents of Springwood to take justice into their own hands and kill Freddy.

The comparison of this franchise and the Child's Play franchise is a great example of the difference between having the creator/writer/visionary of the original stay with the franchise and create each installment vs not respecting the creator and having a studio run the show. It's a lesson most people, including the consumers, do not pick up on. This world really doesn't respect creators of these things - only the brand names. But that is such a HUGE difference. Just MY opinions though! ❤❤

My theory is that he was killing everyone from the first film to Dream Child to show the parents how it felt to have their kids taken away.
& I'm pretty sure he wanted his daughter back so he could kill her for telling on him so he transported himself into her subconscious after offing John so he could manipulate her dreams a lot easier.
I do wish they would have brought back or mentioned Alice, whether she survived or if Freddy actually got to her and Yvonne

@itscarriebomb puts your average bullied teen nerd, Hoax (Stephen Geoffreys)
From a broken home. Although a straight A student, Hoax deals with personal trauma. "A square peg round hole scenario." With a religious zealot of a mom. The school gang, in which his cousin, the reluctant hero, bad boy Spike (Patrick O'Brian) leads. Who pales in comparison when it comes to his cousin. Until Hoax reaches out and touches the devil. When he calls the horrorscope hotline.
All hell breaks loose. It's up to Spike to save his cousins soul. Before it's lost in eternal damnnation.

So not sure if you guys have figured it out, but apparently Freddy went through every last child of elm Street and left the Adults all alone. so NONE of the adults ever had other children for fear of losing them. Hence Springwood became deserted and Amnesia Boy believes he's the last one. BUT as the movie shows us he's actually NOT the last child of elm street.

This was such a great horror film for 10 yr olds. By this point Freddy was iconic...most recognized character next to Ronald Mcdonald and Santa Claus. This was one of the first Movie Poster that I collected from my local theater, I still have it, plus had the cardboard cut out from the video store later.
I dont hate it, but they really didnt seem to have a plan for it, but at least he didnt end up on space...or clone himself....or have a mass cult worshipping him...well in the movies at least. And out of all the quotes this is the one I quoted the most...probably not great for a sixth grader. You two are great as always

My interpretation was always that Freddy was stuck in Springwood and there were no more kids to kill, so the last surviving child he sent on a mission to bring his daughter to him. When Freddy sends him hurling from the bus and through the barrier, when Freddy tries to reach through the hole made by his body, it reformed. My assumption was that his "consciousness" could inhabit her body and once she traveled outside of Springwood, he would be released into the rest of the world. That's why once she drives across the border of Springwood, the barrier shattered. It would have made more sense, I think, if they'd shown a scene of him leaving her body, but I believe he left her immediately once they made it out of Springwood. I also always got the sense that there were missing scenes, though, so perhaps one of them made that more clear? I don't know if you noticed, but there were all the scenes with the nursery rhyme written out in the world, but "7, 8, better stay up late is missing", so there were definitely things cut. The rest are all there.

I thought the “10 years from now” meant that it was set in 2001. Since this movie debut in 1991. However, it’s referring to the last movie which was set in 1989. So Freddy’s Dead is really set in 1999.
