We’ll see what happens in Tron:Ares.. many of us back then thought he became millions of bits of information in the system. Maybe Ares finds the thumb drive that Sam has…. Hmmmm
Addie, the canonical reason for the graphical difference between the two films is- the first grid was a corporate construct created on QDOS/DOS. The new grid was a creation of Kevin Flynn and didnt use a standard architecture. It was an extension of his personality, not bound by Encom.
Seeing Tron: Legacy in IMAX 3D was absolutely incredible. The visuals, the soundtrack, the nods to the original….just amazing!! Let’s hope Tron: Ares is a worthy sequel to this!!
In theaters this movie was one of the few that used 3D stylistically to great effect. The scenes in the real world were shown in 2D and the scenes on the grid were shown in 3D.
I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was wild. It did a Wizard of Oz thing where all the scenes in meatspace were in 2D and the Grid scenes were in 3D. The transition when he gets zapped was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in a movie.
The Grid’s cyber-neon aesthetic from this movie is iconic to this day, I can’t wait to see it return. If you have the time, react to the show “Tron: Uprising”, the same people who worked on Spiderverse worked on this first
The aesthetic works really well, because orange, and teal contrast really well, since they are on the opposite ends of the color wheel. And the addition of shiny black is a great touch.
Bruce Boxleitner(Alan) starred in one of my top three greatest sci-fi television shows ever, Babylon 5. In order: 1: FIREFLY 2:BABYLON 5 3: STAR TREK He was also married to Mellisa Gilbert(Half-Pint from Little House)for a length of time.
All of these series are fantastic! Highly recommended, though you have to commit a dozen years or so to soak in all of "Star Trek" if you do just one screening per week. "Orphan Black" is another favorite. Bruce was also in a series called "How the West was Won" about a family moving from Virginia to Oregon in the mid-1800's. Very well done: Emmy winner and highly rated. Pilot was a 2-hour TV movie. That was followed by a 3-episode mini-series, then a TV series of 25 episodes over two seasons.
This movie had the best marketing campaign ever. "Flynn Lives" events, online games and challenges where you could get all kind so real world swag. Enamel pins, postcards, I got an Encom door badge and lanyard, lots of stuff.
Loved Jeff Bridges’ Lebowski-esque reimagining of Flynn, loved Michael Sheen’s crazy antics (personally, the one bright spot in the Twilight Saga), and I love everything about Olivia Wilde’s performance.
Serinda Swan plays one of the sirens who undresses him for the games. She's an underrated actress who went on to star in Coroner and the last season of Reacher.

I love how much un-answered stuff there is in the movie. They hint at Tron being saved when his lights turn back on as the light blue over the orange he had as Rinzler. I think that's part of what makes some movies so good, NOT explaining everything, and just letting us wonder.
Daft Punk. They scored the entire movie with original music...They are in the club scene as the DJs in the movie in case you didn't know Addie... If you don't know anything about Daft Punk and what music accomplishments they have... You outta look into it... 🤘🏼
Good sequel 👌 There are a couple small things I would change, but overall very well done. Its also cool that much of the film was shot in Vancouver BC where I live. Sam and Quorra ride the motorcycle across the lions gate bridge at the end as she see's her first sun rise. Fun fact: lions Gate film studios who have made many well known movies. Such as American Psycho, Hunger games, and John Wick was named after that Bridge in Vancouver.
Now that is how you do a segue. That alone would have earned a like. I not only like how they laid out the story, but even the small things like Dillingers kid being in the movie were nice touches.
Was this the first time where vfx were used to de-age an actor? Also, the two DJs at the bar scene were actually the Daft Punk duo group, who created the music for the movie.
I really love this movie. The whole thing sort of feels like a big choreographed dance - the way people and objects move and the music. And I LOVE Quorra.
If you want more from this specific version of the universe, there's an animated TV series and a Visual Novel that expand things out and give more story. :)
Clu did not go rogue, that's the "neat" part. Like you see in his creation phase he says "you will create the perfect system" when they housed the Iso's he asks "Do i still need to create the prefect system" since the Iso are an imperfection all he technically had to answer was "No", but since he answered "yes" he technically gave him the all green to purge all the imperfections and those that opposed the purge. Hence the "coup"
If anyone is looking for more Tron stories there's an animated show that was on Disney called Tron: Uprising. It's actually very good. I'm sure its on Disney+
Hey Addie...Bless you, thrice! - 21:44 - The composers of the score for Tron Legacy appear...Daft Punk. - Michael Sheen (Castor) was a huge fan of the first film as a kid, so when he was offered the chance to be a part of this film, he JUMPED at it! I love his David Bowie-esque performance in the role. - It was exciting to see Cillian Murphy as Ed Dillinger, Jr., even though it was just a glorified cameo. I think that there were plans that would have had Murphy play someone in the grid in a sequel, but the film didn't make enough to warrant an immediate sequel, so those plans were scrapped. Although, there is a new Tron film coming next year. Tron: Ares with Jared Leto, and Jeff Bridges will return as well *that was announced just a couple weeks ago). - The clues to Rizler being Tron were there all the time. You never see Rinzler's face, but on his chest are four little boxes, three on top, one centered below (which is what was on Tron's chest in the first film). When Rinzler pins Sam, and sees the blood, it is Bruce Boxleitner's voice who says, "User!". When we see Tron in the flashback, he fights with two discs, like Rinzler. So, when Flynn recognized Rinzler as Tron...it makes sense. - I loved this and wanted more, but the box office was not enough for Disney to do another at the time. There is another Disney sci-fi film I think you need to see...John Carter (2012). Based on the novel A Princess of Mars by Edger Rice Burroughs (the same writer who created Tarzan). The film stars Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights and Gambit from X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Lynn Collins (Logan's girlfriend Kayla Silverfox in X-Men Origins), Willem Dafoe, Samamtha Morton, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, Daryl Sabara and directed by Andrew Stanton (Wall-E and Finding Nemo). It was a flop (even though he did make up it's budget at the box office), but it is a really fun adventure romance story...one that has inspired science fiction and comic book writers, artists, and filmmakers for over 100 years.
Grew up watching the original cause of my dad and this one love them both and love tron legacy and love when Tron remembers and am still hoping for a day that they continue this world since the third has been put off for years now will have to watch this ater though cause am busy and want to see this on my laptop not my phone
Back in the 80’s after the original movie TRON..was released ..TRON the arcade game came out!..and I dropped many quarters into this game, I still miss playing it
The name Gem is play on names carried over from the first movie. Digital Research created Graphics Environment Manager, a competitor for Windows in the mid 80's. CLU was the name of a programming language which dates back to the early 70's. More modern uses of the name refers to command line users - the folk who process commands through the terminal versus the graphical environment.

I have adored this movie since the first time I saw it. I still very much love all the eye candy, clean visuals and sounds, characters, and THAT MUSIC! I always take a chance to re-watch this one. 😊
I saw this in theatres and it blew my mind. It made me want to be a filmmaker and a motion-capture actor. Now I’m writing my own scripts 😊 the Daft Punk soundtrack still lives on in my collection.
While you wait for the next Tron, check out Tron: Uprising, an animated show with Elijah Wood voicing the main character. Saddly it was canceled, but it does have 20ish episodes
Every major character in this movie is dealing with a great loss of some kind, and the music subtlety reflects that. Softly sad and bittersweet to the core.
The only part of the fx that may take you out of the experience is the de-aging done to Jeff Bridges (Flynn) at the beginning of the movie, but in the case of Clu it makes sense that he looks a bit strange because he's digital. However, in terms of story-telling, the series Tron Uprising is still leagues ahead, with a lot more characters, character development, and world-building.
You don't have to stream it if you don't want but Tron: Uprising is a 2 season animated mini-series that could have gone longer. It's pretty great. My favorite part of this movie is when 'The Dude' (BL) shows up when CLU askes to if it is the one to create the perfect system; that reply: "yeaahh..." was The Dude. If you want to see Jeff Bridges as a villain then Vanished is a early 90s film with Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock where Kiefer's character plays an unrelenting asshole (as always) but he kinda gets to because Jeff's character really needs that; for inner growth and enlightenment.
For me the scene when Quorra sees the sun for the first time is one of the most beautiful scenes I have seen and Oliva really sold the scene 🥺

Daft Punk. They scored the entire movie with original music...They are in the club scene as the DJs in the movie in case you didn't know Addie... If you don't know anything about Daft Punk and what music accomplishments they have... You outta look into it... 🤘🏼
Like Avatar, this was one of the relatively few movies actually filmed in 3D (versus being converted to 3D). It looked *AMAZING* at the theater.
Olivia Wilde had never done martial arts before this movie, but her trainers were so impressed they suggested she keep doing it after the filming ends
I loved this movie and I think it’s severely underrated. Daft Punk did a phenomenal job making the music for this movie.
BLESS YOU, BLESS YOU...... BLESS YOU.
Love everything about this movie, from the Dude to the perfect and awesome aesthetic. But the sountrack is just pure bliss and voyage!
"Daddy Flynn." Hahaha, cracks me up everytime you say it. lol
I've never bought a soundtrack for a movie so fast after leaving the theatre
I really love this movie. The whole thing sort of feels like a big choreographed dance - the way people and objects move and the music. And I LOVE Quorra.
Thanks for reacting to this classic. I hear they are making another one. Can't wait!
Bravo Addie, T:L is one of the most underrated movies of all time!
34:14 "That's wild"
Yes... Olivia Wilde in fact!
Yes one of my favourite movies and a soundtrack I still listen to regularly to this day
The Tron arcade game in Flynn’s arcade is an actual 1980s Tron arcade game….I put a lot of quarters in that thing back in the day…. :)
It is a visually beautiful film. And the soundtrack is off the chain amazing. It was a fantastic experience in theater.
Love this movie. Wife and I watch it every 1-2 years. Looks beautiful, great sound and music, and some solid heart.
Nice reaction Addie, this one is awesome and 28 years later we've come far with CGI and other effects. Great story line and good role for Olivia. Daft Punk's music was perfect.
The Daft Punk music made this movie great. It sucks they've broken up and wont do the next one.
The movie that made me get a motorcycle license. Kid me had his jaw on the floor both on the opening sequence and the light cycle games
Fun fact, this film was released in 3d in theatres, but the 3d effects weren't turned on until he went into the Grid
The film wasn't originally filmed in 3d. It was processed into 3d after the fact.
#addiecounts# you are awesome tron was awesome to overcome his reconditioning to help flynn because he remembers to help his friend and he remembers helping flynn to get to victory to help free the grid and he knows and remembers from the grid with flynn getting injured in the first movie and seeing sam bled caused him to start remembering ❤❤❤your awesome addie
I have adored this movie since the first time I saw it. I still very much love all the eye candy, clean visuals and sounds, characters, and THAT MUSIC! I always take a chance to re-watch this one. 😊
TRON &LEGACY is INCREDIBLE | Film
I have a Tron Legacy pinball machine and it's awesome too. The first film will always be my fav but this one has some of the best CGI Ive seen.
Tron was the first feature film to extensively use CGI, so it's fitting that the CGI would be good in this movie as well.
Greetings program!
Saddly it was canceled, but it does have 20ish episodes
it was one of the best experiences i had in a movie theater
God bless you for the sneezes. And yes Tron was a great movie...wish they had made more!
Every major character in this movie is dealing with a great loss of some kind, and the music subtlety reflects that. Softly sad and bittersweet to the core.
The visuals and music make this a total work of art.
This looked even better in the theater, on a big screen, with Dolby sound.
Easily one of my top ten fav movies! Glad you enjoyed it so much Addie! :)
I haven't seen the first one. Rented this one so I could watch her reaction. Worth it.
If you want to see Jeff Bridges as a villain then Vanished is a early 90s film with Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock where Kiefer's character plays an unrelenting asshole (as always) but he kinda gets to because Jeff's character really needs that; for inner growth and enlightenment.
i saw this in theaters like 6 times because of how much i loved the music
