Best thing that can happen on a Friday arvo after work is coming home to a Dainer video😄
I'm sorry
Thanks for the shoutout Dainsy! Thanks again for inspiring us all to 'just get started'! Can't wait to see some Dainer Made merch from this. :P
Yay for BPW shoutout. Hope you took before and after Sub counts ;)
could be me - but the link posted to Barbers Paddock Woodwork bounced. I found Anthony anyway - but i think your link needs addressing.
Loving thr content
That is some backyard shed party you've got going for you down there 😁- I hope you'll "stumble" across some million dollar ideas for that awesome laser cutter. I would make designer lamps! Happy birthday Dan!
Now that you mention it, I did see a video about some knucklehead giving away plans for a laser cut lampshade for free…. Get on it Dainsy. Plenty of casheola to be made from those!!😂😂😂
Yes….bendy parts are cool🤙 Very snazzy addition to the shop mate…Hopefully you can find a project that you make a motza out of. Good stuff as always 👍😁🇦🇺
I love to see that you and Jesper are friends.
One good thing about having a laser is jig making. You can make virtually any jig to use as a router guide. I also recommend lightburn as a drawing software.
They are the best for jigs. I’ve used LightBurn. It’s great
Some kind of fancy kitchen drawer silverware organizer
Thanks for taking the time to share with us
Love watching your videos and everything you make you are very talented and make Awesome projects!!! You make us Laugh & encourage us to Just Get Started!!
Thank you so much!
Happy Birthday Dan!! Thanks for sharing
Custom board game pieces, card holders, token trays etc. Loads of designs out there. Scope for personalisation. See the likes of Wyrmwood Gaming for the high end and high dollar versions. Do similar with slices of skateboard or pallet brick?
Happy birthday Dan!! Do I get a laser too? 😂 awesome to see this thing in action
Happy birthday, Dan. And Dainsey!
An inspiring bloke indeed! Keep up the good work
I don't have any million dollar ideas, unfortunately. However, I did laugh at that wonderful joke!
Waterfall tables.... Everyone needs a table! I love the pattern, gattam it looks good!
Agree, cheers mate lol
Happy birthday Dan!
Happy Birthday Dan :) from Nashville
$7500 kangaroos is only $6600 beaver pelts here in Canada so it's definitely something to think about. You need to think outside the box (pun intended) make a high end product and use it to add your logo. Thanks Dainsey!!
That's a production machine for sure! What a great introduction to the top end of the market. Congrats on the brand deal mate, awesome stuff.
Good stuff Dainsey!! Love seeing you expand your shop tools and skill set!! Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with mate!!
Happy birthday, Dan ! Lol🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great video.
Love the plug for your friend/colleague.
Dollar for dollar the best use I've found for my laser is customizing for customers for an upcharge, templates and artwork. I'm on my 4th glowforge with light use in (3 were on warranty. The laser tube has a life span to consider in costs as well. Time is the biggest expense though.
You tackled this subject really well mate and it's nice to see a properly honest review of a tool for once.
@@dainermade you reckon the mirrors are fully dialled in then?
I was distracted the first viewing, so I will just have to watch if again 💁♂️
I’ve been eyeing that Dewalt planer for awhile now, good to hear it’s doing great a job for you.
Time to take the plunge me think 🤔, thanks heaps for video Mark 👌.
Hi Mark, really interested in this side hustle - love to watch it develop on your channel, and who knows one day may invest in an X Tool myself! Great video as always!
How the shop grows and the many uses that xtool can do. Keep it up and your going to need a bigger shop which i think would be wonderful. Wish you luck on the xtool and hope it becomes a great extra to benifit your building thing`s to make money. Thanks for letting us see into your new venture. GDAY mate.
Great video love your point of view on the laser cutter for making money. Thanks for sharing
Happy Birthday!
Great video! And I like the honest insight of what your working with! I have been on fence of should I or should I not invest in something like this. You definitely gave me more food for thought!
Thanks for the review of a laser CNC. I've been looking into them as well, but just haven't been able to pull the trigger on one yet, I just don't see how it will pay for itself. Maybe some day. Happy Birthday Dan!!
That is one rad piece of tech!!!
Happy Birthday Dan
Glad I watched this. I think I’m gonna look at the smaller ones.
Great vid, Mark! In case you didn’t experiment more yet, solid hardwoods are actually easier to cut through than plywood. All the glues and hollow spaces in ply mess up the beam and make for crappy cuts. Of course thicker woods means slower cuts but they are surprisingly clean on thicker material if it’s hardwood. Loved the video! I just got the F1 so I’ll be doing some testing of my own!
Another Cracking video. Cheers matey. 👍
Good honest review, tge laser script I have access too will only do up to 8mm ply and 10mm perspect.
Plywood is a lot more difficult to cut with a laser than solid wood because of all the glued layers. xTool claims their cuts for solid pieces if I recall correctly.
Looking forward to seeing how you implement this into your builds!
What a machine! Mental what you can do in a shed these days, the possibilities are endless. Quick ideas - sports memorabilia targeted around certain times of the year on facey, could be state of origin plaques during that time, or Rugby world cup plaques as that hits. Even generic team ones as fathers day hits. The beauty Is that you make a template and example of each, then just make them to order, it's certainly quick enough!
They seem to excel at templates.
Great review on the Xtool. I would have no use for this at my stage of working but it looks like fun.
One use for the laser cutter would be to etching or engraving decorative details. A cool project I found on UA-cam were wooden coasters with designs engraved and then filled with epoxy, kinda like an inlay.
That's a nice looking tool !
So good for drawers! I'll be in touch for my order 😄
Computers shouldnt replace humans. Man made tools are always best. Love all ya awesome stuff. Would love to buy soemthing off u one day. Peace and love from England
@@dainermade it will always need a professional touch 👌
I'm probably gonna tell you something you already know about, but Lazer Cutters/Engravers, like CNC machines must slow down, coming to a brief stop inorder to change directions on an angle. If you, however are cutting something out that you're planning on trimming the edges off of, let the machine do that for you. A gradual corner is much easier than a 90° angle.
Congrats on the new toy, nice bit of kit ,opens up a new world of opportunities. Maybe I won’t have to make my own mallet rack 😁
One thing I've always wanted someone to make is a decent tool box that has loads of deviders to keep everything separate. This mostly for my work in the plumbing industry as none of them currently seem to put out a decent one that can store the crimpers and other gear
Getting tools for you couldn't normally pay for yourself is the dream, I hope I can make good enough videos to have that happen to me one day.
@@dainermade Thank you! I try to pick up as much as I can from every video I watch.
It might not be a big goal to get stuff for free but it certainly is nice when it happens. I recently got a tool (for metalworking) for my shop that I've wanted for years for absolutely free because a company was running a giveaway. I wouldn't have normally bought it because I just couldn't justify the $700+ price after shipping (the item in question is a swage block that's about 150 pounds). It's been super useful and it'll make it a lot easier to forge hardy tools for my anvil among a million other uses. Wish I would have gotten one a while ago!
Anyways, thanks for the reply. Cheers man.
Bird house usually sell
Engraved Mailbox
House/door number sign
Dog tags
Awesome perspective as always. You make beautiful mallets and bowls on your lathe that you are already selling. Use the laser and customise those products that you already have. The engraving is faster than making whole parts and you can then sell your $75-$95 mallets for $150 or something similar because they have been customised for the buyer. Bigger profits for you on 5 min extra time spent loading the design/name into your software. Just a thought.
i know iam late but Happy birthday Dan
@@dainermade you got me hahahahah
Dainsey! 100% behind abandoning the first name in the grand aussie tradition. Onya mate!
I agonized over getting the thickness planer (same one) because it's not even a side hustle for me - just a hobby. But it's paid off so much in making more of the little time I get in the workshop. So even the average weekend warrior punter like myself can get value out of it even if we're not making the bucks from our work.
The thickness planer wad my second most important upgrade behind the dewalt table saw (light years ahead of the OH&S disaster that was the previous one)
I think thee is a lot of potential for ngraved products. A friend of mine makes coasters, Calendar holders, key holders e.c.t...
Hey Mark - For your next project why dont you use pellets to extend your shed so you have more room for more tools! ;)
Ply and MDF must have fire retardant as I found the same thing and doubted the claims for my laser until I cut through some old cedar panelling very easily.
Hey Dainsey! Loving the content. I am not new to making things but I am new at making things to sell, if you were just about to make your first thing to try and sell what item of furniture would you go for? Cheers ps I'm in the uk if that makes any difference
Hey mate, nice vids, can I ask did you make your pallet pry bar, and chance of a picture
Nice one Dainsey. I'll be interested to see how you incorporate this new tool into your 'Full Business Human' workflow. You must be getting close to that legendary '$30k worth of tools' by now 😆. Keep up the good work. All the best.
If you want a bit more detail on your graphics, mix up a solution of borax and water about 1 table spoon per liter. Brush it on where the graphics will be and allow to dry, then burn with the laser. I put photos on wood doing this, I'm sure you could sell a few.
It acts as a catalysis, and yes will burn darker with more detail, so you will have to turn down the burn settings, say form 60% to 18-20%. I use a 5w diode. I'll dig up some I burned and send them.@@dainermade
Well, did he comment happy birthday 😂
There's a guy here abouts that does a bunch of small plans for laser cutting. Ones a whisky smoker, and he breaks things down to in terms of cost and selling them.
Hamilton Dilbeck is the guys name.
Such a good Video mate! Well done! You’ll love the laser I have a muuuuuuch cheaper one it is still great
@@dainermade awesome mate you deserve it.
That Spicy Light Space Alien Hotbox is some fancy pants technology. The closest experience I've got with lazers is burning ants with a magnifying glass, in my Dennis the Menace-esque dirty childhood faze. Good video, you are the hardest working bloke on UA-cam, you should be on different deniro ! 💰💰💰
Another interesting video. I have been going back and forth trying to decide whether a laser or a CNC router will be my first automated tool. My big take-away from your XTool experience - almost all of your videos, actually - is to look for a tool that suits a specific need. Looking forward to more good stuff.
Really would like to get into using these machines CNC, laser, etc. I just don’t know where to start lol
Hi Mark, Congrats on the new machine! Looks like a big learning opportunity!
But I have a question for you, I’ve started woodworking with old pallets to and just got myself a circular saw to get started. Do you have any tips on how to fully use that tool? Maybe there is a UA-camr that has some nice detailed vids?
DIY for knuckleheads mate, good luck on your journey
Hi Dansy
Now that would be a sweet thing to play around with, but I have no product ideas at all...
Hey Mark, how did you manage to avoid wood snipe? I've got the same planner and it likes to dig into my blocks!
Your new tool is flippin cool mate, congrats!
I watched a video today where they used a lazer to print tshirts. Maybe an idea for you too try
Could you use it to cut kumiko?
Shit. That's me!! Hahaha. Great to see new weaponry added that can truly value add, particularly for that amount of kangaroos. It is possibly the glues in the laminations in the ply that is minimising the cut depth.
@@dainermade Might need a shed extension, mate.....the pallet builder!!
Happy Birthday Dan haha cheers mate
@@dainermade old enough to play with lasers haha
U sure?? What 21?? Thought was 25+ to play with lasers??
Ohhhhhh that just got interesting 🤔 am not atoll jealous 😬😬😬 seriously though m8 well done getting that. Dainer makes merch?? Maybe dainer glue soreaders a mean spatulas, bottle openers? Still reckon you need start with the merch club next step towards full business human. Oh or dainer mugs? Drink up/out of mark with morning coffee?? 😂😂 Hope your good m8 great video 👍🏴
@@dainermade reckon u could make a few kangaroos selling merch! 🏴👍
Looks a great tool , it would be lost on me with no clue about CAD
Crispyness. Could the charred surfaces be suitable for draw runners?
The possibilities are endless, If it helps you make that first million dollars then why not
I really need to start a UA-cam channel. I do pretty good but I just can't justify spending that much on a machine. UA-camrs get some nice stuff though 😂
Hit up the units for some custom challenge coin work.
@@dainermade if theres anything we all love, its more shinies!
Make wooden kinetic sculpture, ie there is a clock dude. Also automaton..... Various i guess. Automaton _ the silver swann
How good is getting free tools?!!!
Fake laser dovetails should be illegal! Still waiting to see you cut some yourself duder, you'll smash em! 👍
Fuck me, good luck with that I can't believe it can't cut 12mm that's a deal breaker for me! Would mean no diode laser can either 😏
Can't see this _possibly_ making seven and a half thousand kangaroos. Best use is for engraving and that's an entire shit ton of engraving to make back that sort of money.
Your click photo really stresses me out for some reason I simply cannot explain.
'PromoSM'
Hi, I got xtool M1 after loads of head scratches thinking if it would be worth it. Can't praise it enough and I'm even doing stuff* I'd never have dreamed of doing. Love it.
* = Technical term I use a lot
