      Same i fractional invested by 11dollars on a certain stock it gained 8 dollars making it 19 dollars i sold the profit but the investment went to 5.99 how do i only sale profit not investment i am aware that when it gains capitol it becomes a share but for some reason when you sale profit the investment goes dwn. Not the gain is there away? To only sale gain and bring the gain bar dwn. Not the investment because id like to keep my intial investment as is but why exactly does it do that ??? Any videos on youtube explaining that on cash app. The only way i recover it is to sale dwn to 1 dollar then turn around buy more fractional share let that gain capitol then pull out again to get profit but thats kinda what bitcoin is and in bitcoin im not interested in but any advice on this issue would help in sustaining my investment and i do understand that it adds up and you do recieve the profit even if its extracted from investment not actual gain but how do you gain capitol on 5.00 and you can but if i pull gain again itll 0 out my investment so i only had the option of pulling my investment and reinvesting and starting over only problem with that is that it turns into day trade and if your cash app. Savy theres stipulations on that so yeah advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    • @ImprovedMoney
      @ImprovedMoney  3 роки тому +4

      Yes, you sell a portion of your shares.
      Here's an example to explain why:
      You buy 1 share of Microsoft at a cost of $200 per share. 1 year later the price per share has increased to $400 per share. You now have 1 share worth $400...which means you technically have a profit of $200 because your initial cost is $200. If you want to sell your profits then you have to sell a portion of your shares. In this case you'd have to sell .50 (50%) of your shares because you only want to sell of your profits.

      I would start with a Brokerage that offers a Roth IRA because your money grows tax free with that type of investment account. My preferred platform for that is M1 Finance which you can check out here: m1finance.8bxp97.net/eX16D

      @@ImprovedMoney Thank you I'm looking forward to it. I also have two 401ks they left with two previous employers. They are making money although I'm not contributing. Is there a way to convert those to roth 401k's or leave them alone where they are since they're making money? Thank you. And it's okay if you don't know just tell me. Or refer me to the right place.

    • @ImprovedMoney
      @ImprovedMoney  3 роки тому +1

      If you're happy with your investment options and they're not charging you high management fees then there's nothing wrong with leaving them where they're at. Feel free to let me know the management fee they're charging you and I'll tell you if I think it's too high.
      But if you do decide you want to move the 401k's away from the current providers into one of your choice then it's pretty easy to do. You'll want to start the transfer process on the investment platform you want to send the accounts to. I did that with M1 Finance for a 401k I had from my first job out of college. It was super easy- I just logged into my M1 account and gave them the provider name, account numbers, and they handled the rest.
      Keep in mind that a Traditional 401k can only be converted to a Traditional IRA (without paying taxes)...and a Roth 401k can only be converted to a Roth IRA (without paying taxes).
      Technically you can convert a Traditional 401k into a Traditional IRA, then to a Roth IRA, but you'll pay taxes in the year you do the conversion. It's a strategy called a "Roth Conversion". I have a video planned to come out on this exact topic on my other channel later this month or early July. There's reasons why this might make sense for some people to do, but that's probably more info than you're looking for. Haha sorry, I'm an investing nerd so I know a lot about this stuff.
