  • The internal diaphragm on certain Ford and Lincoln vacuum-activated hub actuators is highly failure-prone. This patented Dorman OE FIX replacement (600-405) restores 4WD while eliminating the problematic original functions for greater reliability. This video explains what makes this solution a smart fix for older vehicles.
    Other features and benefits include:
    Dependable solution - this unique hub locking actuator delete enables 4WD operation while disabling the failure-prone original vacuum function
    Cost-effective fix - deleting need for troublesome vacuum saves future replacement cost and frustration
    Patented design - exclusively engineered in the United States by highly trained automotive experts
    Fully reversible - actuator includes vacuum caps for holding remnant lines and allow for restoring original function in future
    This unique solution fits select vehicle models, including Ford Expedition 2015-03, Ford F-150 2015-04, and Lincoln Mark LT 2008-06, Lincoln Navigator 2015-03. To learn more, visit the product description page for this part: www.dormanproducts.com/p-1017...

    Wtf? You might wanna explain to people that means your front drive shaft and both axles will always be spinning ALL THE TIME. more wear and less gas mileage

    • @DormanProducts
      @DormanProducts  2 роки тому +32

      Your front axles will be engaged at the hub, but they'll still spin free at the transfer case. You're probably looking at a little more wear on the axle seals and shaft joints, and maybe a slight drop in gas mileage. Then again, none of the vehicles that this kit fits are exactly known for their wonderful fuel economy.

    Found out my iwe was dead on an extremely snowy winter klondike camp out. Decided it won't happen again. Installed these with no problems. I really like the fact I can grease these moving parts. Guaranteed to be locked in now. No fuel mileage or turning issues. I do notice the extra vibration from the front drive shaft always turning but thats the point. Can't wait to really try it out.

    Can’t wait to try these. I have replaced my iwes twice now within 5 years. The second time I disconnected my hose so they were always locked in and I knew my 4wd would work when I engaged it. I took my truck into the shop for some new wires ran for the abs and they noticed my hoses were unhooked on my iwes (which is what I wanted) so they plugged them back in and causing my iwes to be halfway engaged and ruining them again:/ I’d much rather have my front wheels always locked in then rely on the oem which I’ve seen fail not only on my truck but several other f150s

    Dorman - can you provide a summary on the benefits of this delete, over the RCV ring?
    I can imagine being a closed system it prevents element exposure to the CV/hub, but unlike the RCV rings, I imagine it also has the ability to break in the same manner the OE part does?

      Hi Jorge! To your question- no you don't need to hook up that vacuum as it is blocked off. However we leave the hose end cast onto the hub actuator so you can reattach it there when you are ready to use it again and it is out of the way.

    • @DormanProducts
      @DormanProducts  2 роки тому +2

      This idea makes sense, but we've never tried to use the OEM style vacuum actuator in a constantly locked position to see if it will hold up to every day conditions like we have designed and tested our OE Fix kit to do.

    Installed this on my 2010 f-150 yesterday. Doesn’t drive any different whatsoever. Happy so far. My only issue is that I wish these came pre-greased or at least have batter instructions on how much grease to put in through the grease fitting. I would have a hard time imagining you can just pump her to the brim with grease. I ended up pre-greasing the part by hand before I installed and then put in another 3 pumps through the fitting. If someone else knows that i need more grease than that it would be nice to know.
