Hello Scotty, love the video. a question if you please. I own a 2002 Ford Ranger 3.0 ltr V-6 that use 5W20 synthetic oil. Should I be using 5W30 as you indicated for the 5.4 V8?
4 wheel drive can also be helpful pulling a boat out of the water. You don't want to be one of those guys on UA-cam with their truck submerged at the boat ramp.
I bought a 2012 f150 xlt 4x4 It was 10 years old when I bought. Last winter in Ontario we got 2 feet of snow in one day and this truck was a tank in it. I’m keeping it until she dies
How do you know if you got a good deal on a used truck? Did you bring a mechanic along with you? I want to buy a used truck but I'm afraid I would get screw over.
@@chrisx5127yeah I got screwed over on a 2003 f250 never gonna happen again, test drive it ask all the questions you can and when they tell you stuff make sure they have proof of what they’re telling you
I just put 150K on my 2013 F150 5.0 4X4. I put her through hell and back and haven't had to do anything but general maintenance. I'll never go back to a Chevy, Dodge or Yota again.. Ford has a returning customer here!
Only great engine Ford made. (2011-2014) I have a 2013 F150 5.0 V8 - 4x4, also! Thing is a beast on and off-road up in the mountains. Best tires for these F150's Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015, no joke.
As a ford guy i recently bought a 2010 Silverado not that I wanted to but you do what you gotta do with the money you have, but it’s a very good truck it’s comfortable, reliable and it’s 4x4 and I live in ny so it’s absolutely necessary lol but I’ve recently had a lot of respect for that truck and I thoroughly enjoy it
The more I see $75,000 electric cars the more I like my 1998 Nissan Quest that I paid $800 for and have had for 10 years. This is a pre-Renault Nissan before they took a turn for the worst which I learned from Scotty. Thanks!
$75K+ for an electric ride $2.5K for an 8 year/80K mile extended warranty for an electric ride. Price range for EV battery replacement: $10 to $20K+ (That subject isn't usually brought up unless you asked about it when they're hammering away on trying to get you sold on the insane torque and drag strip performance). Personally, I would not be interested in EVs. However, should the situation ever change, then my first question with respect to that extended warranty would be, "Does either the regular warranty or the extended one cover the cost of a replacement battery?" My guess would be no in either case because batteries were always treated as consumables to be paid for and replaced by the owner(s) whenever it was required. IDK. Perhaps, some folks just have to learn the hard lessons in life when not thinking things totally through before they decide to go ahead and pull the trigger on such a cash cow.
I have a 2007 Ford F-150 FX4 and all I had to do was replace the spark plugs. I am the original owner and I absolutely love my truck. It has a little over 94,000 miles and runs beautiful.
03 with 280k and it's had 2 alternators and needs some electrical work (windows and wipers) but she has run for friggen ever, and I've trusted her to do what I wouldn't trust trucks a 10th her age or a 4th her odometer to do. Only serious problem I've ever had is the back end is too light to get traction.
94,000 is just breaking it in. i just retired my 99 expedition after 240k miles. Just bought a lincoln town car for 2k with only 90k miles. thing glides down the road
As Scotty said, less computer on a car means less headache. Manual transmission has no computer so it is reliable and cause no headache. No need for dual clutch.
Bull, I want all the tech I can get. How do you think the average age of a car went from 7 years to 15 years? Tech is how. I have a 5 year old Dodge Charger loaded with tech and I've never had a problem with any of it. It uses the Mercedes system before Mercedes went crazy. Even the electric gas cap cover still works. It doesn't even have a gas cap and the system it uses is flawless. Just like NASCAR uses. I wouldn't have anything else.
I just bought a 2013 F150 XLT 3.7 NA V6 with 214,000 miles on it for $6000. I brought a mechanic with me and he said it looks great and $6000 is a great deal.
I came across a nice 2015 F250 super duty plain jane pickup 120k all serviced at 98k big gas v8 6 spd auto 4x4 for $17k love this truck- it like the E85 not much difference in mileage amazingly enough.
I bought a 2011 STX 4x4 with the V6 for my teenage son about 2 years ago. I was hoping the v6 (non-ecoboost) would get better gas mileage, but it doesn't. It's been a good truck so far, but I've got some rust on a fender and in the bed I have to deal with. I'm having a hard time finding a body shop that can do anything to help me with the rust, it's too expensive to replace the bed. I think I might just line-x over the rust and forget about it.
@@sethdavis4382 I lucked out with my 2010 .. plus living in Connecticut we have some pretty brutal winters . I use the 4x4 extensively during the winter months .. I keep it parked outside .. so far I have no rust issues .. I do try on a regular basis to keep it clean .. with extra care on the bottom ..
my sister had a 2016 focus. the transmission started slipping within 5 months of buying it new. they fixed the transmission 2 times and it didn't help. finally ford called her and said if she came to a dealership. they would give her a new 2019 focus for the same amount of money she owed on her car. the 2019 works great.
WOW. My Mom, who passed on last year, had bought a 2015 Focus. That thing needed to have the trans rebuilt basically every oil change. My parents had that car for quite a while before trading it in. They never had an option to get a replacement car. Probably had the trans in and out 15 times. And other weird problems arose. It ended up needing a new power steering rack. I have 40 year old mustangs that are more reliable than some of this new stuff and I drive them harder than the new stuff. Unreal how with all the tech we've seemed to have move backward in reliability.
Regarding the f-150, the spark issue was addressed in mid season 2008. There were actually two distinct problems, first the plug ports in the head had too few threads and plugs ejected on their own. Second issue was plugs of two piece design with a head deesign that was horrible, allowed the spark plug to get seized up in the hole and then they would break off because of the weak two piece design.Your advice on oil is spot on correct, the 5-30 does much better and oil change intervals of 3500 miles will go a long way to assure a trouble free engine, there is ample testimony on line that supports the advantages of low mileage oil change even if you use synthetics. The thing with the 3 valve is that a CLEAN oiling system is absolutely essential, engine service must be spot on timely. This engine does have weakness in the components of the variable valve timing system and sometimes even with good maintenance they come undone because timing chain tensioner gaskets blow out and the top of the engine starves for oil. The oil pumps are known to have a flexing backplate that causes oil pressure loss at higher RPM. Aside from these issues the bulk of breakdown causes comes from lack of maintenance....meticulous maintenance!
You couldn't pay me to take one. And they never recalled that garbage and determined it wasn't a safety issue with your open cylinder spewing fuel under the hood and your spark plug under the hood sparking away. And remember at the same time, Ford diesels in their Super Duty's were the worst engines in the world. Check Mate. No more Ford trucks for me. EVER!
My 2002 F150 4.6 V8 4x4 which I've had since new is still going strong at 450,000 kilometers (250,000 miles approx.) has never had any engine work I credit the use of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic oil. The first half of its life was spent towing 4,000 lb. every day. Eventually had to replace the transmission and rear end but those are the only major repairs in twenty years. Oh, and an alternator, A/C compressor and fuel pump. Other than those items, just regular brake repairs and tires. Would highly recommend Ford F150.
2009 Mustang auto, 218k on it. Recall for airbag and had to replace thermostat housing (design flaw which was covered under a warranty). Three brake jobs, three sets of spark plugs (E3). KN air intake. That's it, other than oil changes and tires and oh yeah, changed battery three times over its life. Runs like a dream still, power galore, comfortable as heck. I don't think I could buy a Mustang of this quality new today. One of the best cars I have ever owned, and that's saying something. I hope to have it for the rest of my life, for reals.
Have 4 fords and love it . Explorer 2102 and 2018 models , exceptional and runs and looks like new . 2 Ford escapee 2016 , 2017 both have over 100k miles and drive great .
Have a 2014 Fiesta, hitting 146,000 miles and thankfully no problems yet. The DCT started to slip from 2nd to 3rd but got the trans fluid changed and reset and it made a pretty big difference.
The tranny on my wife's 14 escape is a little off,I'm planning on changing the fluid next weekend, she's got a 36k mile warranty on it though, so even if its the tranny its not a big problem but I was thinking the same, I'll change the fluid and bring it to the dealer to reprogram it
I lost my 2015 Fiesta due to an accident last month and man that thing had next to no issues. I barely broke 70,000 miles on it but from day one it drove like a dream.
Do you drive it pretty aggressively? Shifting around 3.5k rpm? I know for a fact the DPS6 likes to be pushed, no nanny driving habits. I bought my 2017 Focus S nearly 2 years ago, only got my clutch packs replaced once back in late Feb 2022 at 43.3k miles. The previous owner had it replaced at 28k. I bought the car with 39.4k miles on it. I've really started to get into the habit of driving it aggressively and it works a lot better. Even though I did get my clutches replaced for free (under extended warranty) I still like to preserve clutch life.
I have a 2018 Ford ecosport. I love this little compact SUV. No problems at all. 4 cylinder 2.0l engine with no CVT Transmission. It have 6 speed Regular automatic transmission. 40,980 miles on it. 4 years already. The one thing I love the most about Ford cars is their AC systems. It's so cold to bones. Ford did a great job with their AC systems.
You have no miles.....40k?? We put ,40k on our cars in like ,2 years...my wife has a 14 eescape titanium w the 2.0 ecoboost, she loves it, its nice but the tranny is a little off , at 114k miles. She's got a 36k mile warranty, so its going in the dealer soon, but I'm gonna change the tranny fluid too. But I'm just saying you have basically no miles. She's if pretty fun to drive for a 4 cyl automatic, its pretty peppy
We have one also. Leased it new for $266 a month and bought out the lease for under 13K with under 30K. Loaded up AWD and gave it to our daughter. They still sell for upper teens. Has been a great vehicle.
I found one I can purchase for $9000 a 2014 Escape with 2.5 liter engine with 114k miles. Is there something I should look at more closely being that low in price?
I think I'll be sticking with my 4.6 in my 08 Mustang and my 7.3 in my 97 and 99 F-250s. Both have served me extremely well, Especially my 99 which I payed about 8 grand, 2 wheel drive supercab with about 214k on the odometer.
I have a 06 f150 4.6 2 valve 5/30 mobile one is all I use every 5,000 miles. I had 1 plug blow,1alt and 2 batteries in 271000k And I know this truck is going to make 400000 to 500000k no doubt
Got a 4.0 L S197 Mustang I got for my first car back in 2016, still haven't gotten rid of it almost 7 years later. Had to address tie rods, bushings, and the fuel pump, but otherwise it's been very reliable as a daily commuter.
That's a crock...if you put it in 4wd today...the system is bone dry a couple hours after you shut it off ...you think 20 days after putting it in 4wd it's still lubed?..lol
Scott sure is hammering Ford but honestly I’ve had better luck with Ford than GM. Had an Escape and literally no repairs, my grammys 91 Taurus just died….yes 91, our current driver, our Flex has 192k and runs like a stabbed rat. Every GM I’ve had recently had issues, except my 86 gmc s15. THAT…..was a great little truck!
I had a Blazer , a Cadillac and a Monte Carlo … had issues with all 3 … I’ve been driving new Fords since 1995 and never had a problem … I’ll never buy another GM product ever !!
2013 Ford Explorer- trade in at 86,000. Outside of normal maintenance, brakes, tires,etc.. A washer motor was ALL it ever needed. Ford hands down, but it does depend on the models. They all have a weak or failure model.
I’ve had drilled and slotted rotors for quite some time, I had pads worn about halfway… they lasted me a good while. Granted my car is a lot lighter so less force is needed
I have an '04 F150 4x4 with the 5.4 and it sounds like a diesel but runs great. I'll take the 13 mpg over payments of $1000/mo. Oh, and it's NEVER stranded me in almost 20 years and 266,000 miles.
@@AbcAbc-sp1od I have not! I've replaced some front end parts and had the tranny rebuilt twice. Honestly I consider both those my fault. You shouldn't pull stumps with any half ton, probably not even a 1 ton 😂. And it's true it's never stranded me but it's also true the 5.4 can get around stuck in 2nd 😂. And that's basically it, besides maintenance.
Scotty- (says he wouldn't buy a new F150) then proceeds to show a 12 year old truck and doesn't say anything that bad about it lol. I have an 05 F150 with the 5.4 and I have always used 5-30 instead of 5-20 because of the mileage on the engine and it has never treated me wrong.
My dad was not happy when I bought a ford. 10 yrs 2 brake jobs 2 tune ups later. My 2012 fusion with 240k is still going strong. I've been looking for an excuse to buy a new car. I haven't found that reason yet
the thing with electric cars, you have to drive it casually in order to get better range, and don't exceed 65MPH when your traveling even though speed limit are 75 or 80MPH because the range will go down, and if the weather is nice and cool, turn the AC off and open up the intake vent, the range will get better, and when you approach the stop signs or red light, coast your car earlier, the generator will kick in and charge your battery a little, and light braking for you. if you buy a electric car, get a single motor not the dual motor.
Great pro tip! Same thing I do so save gas on my corolla. I see the difference in the mileage. The faster you go, the more you force your car to go against the air. I tried mentioning that to some people that drive 80-90 all the time and complain about mileage.
@@aaron-fauth I live in Chicago, you can literally speed in front of a cop and does nothing. The interstates here? Forget it! Everyone switching lanes to solid white lines at 80. Using the emergency lanes as their own personal HOV lanes lol. Not to mention speeding through them, inconsiderate of other drivers. Sorry everyone just needed to vent that out 😂
@Pete there's already a comparison video on the Lightning and a gas powered truck pulling identical medium sized travel trailers. Lightning ran out of battery in 85 miles.
Just replaced the oldest (2010 Focus 4cyl/2 liter) Ford in my driveway with a newer one, 2017 Edge SEL AWD.(6 cyl/3.5 liter) for my daughter....SHE paid, of course. 🤣 I also have my wife's 2014 Edge SEL (6 cyl/3.5 liter) and my own 2019 F-150 Lariat FX4 5.0 liter. You're preaching to the "converted". I still remember the "Big Three" plus one more...AMC, and have owned ALL of them. I'll stick with a brand I have a "good history" with.🤔
My dad bought a 2010 f150 XLT 4x4 with the 5.4L brand new. She’s 15 years old now, I’ve since bought it and the worst thing we’ve ever had break down on it was a blown strut. I’ll be keeping it going for a very long time
Bought 2005 F150 almost 2 years ago with 85k miles. Before I closed the deal I had them put all knew plugs and coils. I knew about the issue only from following your channel.
My wife had a 2013 Focus SE hatch with the dual clutch auto. The problem was a seal that would leak fluid onto the clutches causing them to slip on take off. The dealership would have to replace the seals and clutches and then reprogram transmission to shift correctly. We missed out on the recall by a couple of months and were quoted $1600 to do the work at the dealership. Other than that, it was an outstanding car. Great mileage, huge torque and sports car like handling. I'd buy the ST model in a heartbeat with the manual transmission.
I bought an 06 focus zx3 hatchback automatic brand new. It's still going today. Over 225,000 miles on it. Only replaced the alternator once, engine mounts and a valve cover around 200,000. It's been very reliable.
The only problem I can see with 2009 to 2014 Ford is that they didn’t come with a cabin air filter. Plus I purchased my 2014 F150 XRT for 14 K crew cab nice truck, but a little rusty from living in the Northeast.
Just picked up a 2016 F150 XLT sport 5.0 43000 miles for 20,000 after my trade and discounts because I used to work at that dealer. Its been undercoated and driven by an older man lol I lucked out with that gem especially now. Been a mechanic my entire life and love the 5.0
That is good new but keep an eye on the tcm in that car if it goes out you won’t be able to find that part hardly any where there are a lot of focus’s sitting at dealerships just needing that one part but it is said to be on back order up to 6 months to a year
I had a 1979 Toyota Corrolla. I'd give anything if they still made those, exactly like they made them back then. Speaking of braking, slow the Hell down before you get to your stop so you aren't putting so much friction all at once on your "breaking" system. Also, it is my understanding ethanol has a lot of water in it that messes up your fuel system, especially if it sits unused. Am I wrong? I can't even imagine spending as much on a truck for which you could buy a small house.
My grandmothers husband was the topseller of ford in the northern south part of my country, at his peak he sold 20 cars a month, two weeks after he quit Ford he bought a brand new Volvo S80 with executive interior lol
I have the same 2014 manual Ford Fiesta with 224k in it. Nothing really ever wrong with it until now. Some rust on the lift gate corners (outside all, those years in cold winter weather), and now the catalytic converter has gone. Repairing that as it’s still in great shape aside from those two issues. My happiest purchase, less than 13K all told out the door…. Wanted a cheap commuter for excessive mileage and it’s done great winter, spring, summer and fall.
@@ericafors6039 I live in CA with no crazy weather. I got the car last year 3wks before the crazy mark up. 64k miles for only $8500. Thanks for your reply. I feel good about this car now. I haven't driven it since I had it, but I go out to start it once a week. Did the clutch ever need to be replaced?
The new Rangers suck too. Had a brand new 2019 with only 200 miles on it within 2 years had to replace the entire air conditioning system twice! That 10 speed auto transmission also jerks and shifts oddly. The brakes also always squealed even when brand new! The entertainment screen also flickers.
I completely agree with Scotty on the spark plug issue I have a 2006 4 wheel drive F-150 with a 5.4 l Triton it and I have a 2008 f150 5.4l Triton that's there are lariat package and my daily driver and the 5-30 weight oil does wonders my work/ toy four-by-four has 238,000 miles on it no knocking no vibrations nothing
The older 2v 5.4 are actually more reliable the plug problem is there’s like 2 threads, just don’t over tighten them. The 3v have more head problems if you change the oil it’ll be good.
Scotty usually: it says on the oil cap what weight oil to use. The engineers who designed these things know what oil it needs Scottt this time: this truck is an old classic v8 give it the higher weight oil than it sahs
Every ford truck I have had and that's 7 of them because I used them as an HVAC tech have been completey reliable no issues and we didn't exactly take care of them. Best trucks on the planet better then the Toyota.
For the Focus, if you get a manaul they can be fine. The "automated dual clutch" manuals they used didn't work very well and many of them needed new transmissions or clutches after a while. But the manual transmissions were fine. I guess I'm glad when I traded mine in I only lost maybe $2,000 on it (since it was traded when it was only 2 years old). I later got something in the mail from Ford and didn't qualify for their reimbrusement because mine never got fixed. I traded it before it needed fixing, but the dealer I traded it to (whom I've deal with since) said that it had to have its clutches replaced about 3 years later but still apparently fell under warranty. Either way, I wouldn't have wanted to deal with that. So Ipaid $18k for mine, got about $16k for trade in on a Silverado pick up (which was probably another mistake but at least that truck made it to 180k and 7 years before I sold that off for a Camry in 2020).
@@jerrykorman7770 Same car as you. But my transmission decided to take a dump at 99.5k. Not even 100k. Something with the shift linkage broke something in the transmission. Has a rebuilt 5 speed put in as well as a new clutch. All that was in February-April this year. Has less than 50 miles until I reach 104k. My biggest thing issue is it sucks on wet surface, and it lacks power to pass and getting on the highway to 70mph.
My brother and I owned an HVAC commercial ant we got an 08’ and 10’ F150 with the Triton engines. Boy were those two trucks a mistake. The spark plug blew out of the three different times. Finally had aftermarket thread repair inserts installed to the tune of $1500. The top end gave out at 89000 miles. Replaced them with GMC’s and racked up over 239,000 miles with minor problems. Belt tensioner and an alternator, couple brake jobs and whatnot.
If you’re not familiar with taking overly good care of an f150 just get an 11 or newer with a 5.0 through 2015, the 4.6 and 5.4 had many issues but obviously some were good because the owners were very good
If you can get a 4.6 Triton that's been so much as looked at, they are great. The only problem is that since they were lower tier, a lot of people didn't so much as change the oil. Otherwise go with what Level said, but I'd gladly take another 4.6
Electric cars are quick NOT fast. They are gutless for me, quick off the line, but the better engined cars will catch it at hugher speeds, plus I need the noise of a delicious V8. There's no replacement for displacement! Love your vid's Scotty. Very knowledgeable guy, saved me a few quid over the years. Thank you from sunny England!
Electric cars have one speed and aren't designed for maximum speed. Of course many gas engines are programmed to cut power after revving the engine out as you would in a 1/4 mile drag race.
I used to have a 2010 F-150 XLT 4x4 with the 4.6 engine. Was a great truck got it used in 2011 with 15,000 miles and sold it before I moved down to FL this Feb. I got 14 grand and it only had 57 thousand miles on it. I changed my oil every 5 thousand miles and tires rotated every 10. Sadly, WNY weather dealing with salt was causing the rockers to start rusting.
Scotty is absolutely right about these ford's but I am a very happy Ford owner cuz I got a great 2012 Fusion 2.5L it's got a big powerful four banger and the reason it's so great is cuz it's the last of a generation meaning NO GDI, NO CVT tranny or those dual clutch auto crap tranny's just a good old fashioned six speed auto with a dipstick, everything is simpler and it runs like a dream cuz I maintain the hell out of it! The only thing is when I got it I had to get used to the aggressive deceleration fuel cutoff system that shuts off the fuel aggressively when I take my foot off the gas that feels like a very light braking feeling but at least it doesn't feel like those regenerative brakes on the electric or hybrid vehicles like Scotty was mentioning I don't think I could ever get used to the way that feels lol
@@Buddycoop1 Yeah and they handle great even from the factory of course I have an upgraded touring suspension system with KYB Gas-A-Just shocks and struts, progressive rate springs, upgraded front and rear sway bars and strut tower bar, complete polyurethane bushings all throughout, and the widest tires I can fit in the factory wheels 235/60/R16's so it handles like a slot car on country roads but even stock it handled great!
I didn’t know the Mach E’s are made in Mexico but I shouldn’t be surprised. In my experience when Ford makes a vehicle in the U.S. or Canada it is clearly marked in the door jamb. So when I see cars like my sisters Fusion that says nothing about where it is made, I am suspect.
Just bought myself a 2010 5.4 with 98,000kms!! (60,000 miles) for $13k. Has been regularly undercoated… only TWO small spots of rust on the body.. rear passenger and around tailgate latch. I’m feeling good about my vehicle purchase! trying to learn as much about it as I can now to keep it running for another 10-13 years! Love the truck so far I’m hearing good things at the beginning of this video :)
@@EpixSt33LzIt has "cam phasers" which are supposed to be self adjusting cam sprockets. They get out of alignment every 100,000 - 120,000 miles. It has dual overhead cams and you have to get them adjusted, which means you have to get the heads and everything taken off to do that.
My 12 focus transmission and clutch plates were coverd by the recall. The warranty ran out as soon as the trannie went out. The dealership told me it had a recall and it would of been soon that the recall would have been up.
I have a better story. I had a year old 2015 Dodge Charger SE (AWD) that I paid 17 grand for used at a dealer and drove it two years. I didn't even know Charger CAME in an AWD. I thought the price a little high because it's a Dodge, but the car was mint with 10,000 miles on it and was 28 thousand new. And it was AWD and I live in the Buffalo region. It was a very good deal. In the two years I owned it, I fell in love with that car so much, I traded it in on a brand new one in 2018 I ordered from the factory with everything in it. (different dealer) I take good care of my cars. Very good care of my cars and my all White 2015 Dodge Charger, that sat outside, was so sharp it glowed; they gave me 18 grand for the trade. Even higher than the maximum phone quote, really. The head of the dept came out and said "I want to see if it drives as good as it looks.: When he got back he said "Wow, do you really take good care of your car." The other dealer said "You should see his Jeep." I drove that car for two years for free and never had one problem with it. This was before the used car price spikes. How many people can say that about a used car? They didn't even wash it and put it in their showroom (a used car in their New car showroom) and didn't even dust it. It was gone in three days. They even called me on the phone when it sold. He told me it had crowds around it. LOL I had Mopar customize the new one before I got it and when it came in, in "Go Mango," it was so sharp they didn't want to give it to me. Today it's supercharged. LOL You should see my 2011 Jeep Liberty Woody. Another one I bought new and had it completely customized. Right down to the wood grain sides and the surf board.
Wow, very rare you hear this with a Mopar (or a few of them!) good on ya for taking care of your vehicles! I have a good friend who has three jeep cherokees - 2005, 2007, and 2008 - he drives one, his wife drives one and his oldest son drives the third - they have everywhere from 215k-320k miles on them! Only issues recently was his wife wrecked one of them :(. Ended up getting a 2021 grand Cherokee and it drives nice but he can’t stand all the nonsense in it - already been to our mechanic (we use the same guy when we can’t do the work ourselves) it shows most vehicles will last and last with taking care of them! Some need more love than others, but it’s a thing!
yeah shop tried ripping me off for a spark plug job on my 2010, even though they fixed that issue in like 2008 or something lol. I just did it myself in a night for ultra cheap.
My 03 F-150 is damn near immortal, but I've gone through 2 alternators, and I've always gone with 5w-30 oil. Then again, I run a 4.6 in mine. Either way, great fuel economy, even by modern truck standards.
I have nothing but good things to say about Ford , my 2017 Escape has 175K miles and its still running strong. My next car is going to be a Ford, I support American made but you don't!. I will NEVER buy a Javanese car ever again, they are all crap!

As a Mustang lover, I'll never forgive Ford for calling that Mach E a Mustang. Why not call it the Escape E, because that's what it looks like.
Because I can't think of any Escapes that are capable of developing 600 ft-lbs of torque to all four contact patches.
@@RenKnight347 so they should call super duty which makes 1200 ft lbs torque a Mustang too based on your logic.

The more I see $75,000 electric cars the more I like my 1998 Nissan Quest that I paid $800 for and have had for 10 years. This is a pre-Renault Nissan before they took a turn for the worst which I learned from Scotty. Thanks!
$75K+ for an electric ride
$2.5K for an 8 year/80K mile extended warranty for an electric ride.
Price range for EV battery replacement:
$10 to $20K+
(That subject isn't usually brought up unless you asked about it when they're hammering away on trying to get you sold on the insane torque and drag strip performance).
Personally, I would not be interested in EVs.
However, should the situation ever change, then my first question with respect to that extended warranty would be, "Does either the regular warranty or the extended one cover the cost of a replacement battery?"
My guess would be no in either case because batteries were always treated as consumables to be paid for and replaced by the owner(s) whenever it was required.
IDK. Perhaps, some folks just have to learn the hard lessons in life when not thinking things totally through before they decide to go ahead and pull the trigger on such a cash cow.

Here and there you get a lemon doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give a brand a second chance
@michaelstevens7249 the 2012-2016 had trans problems. Was fixed by 2017.
My mother has a 2013 Ford Focus never had a transmission problems .
That no one should have to make. That's the same problems the Hemi's have.
Hmmmm I noticed at the Picknpull most of the 54.the cylinder heads were removed!!?
Yep 2v 97 to mid 02 heads had too few threads. 3v 04 to 08 had plug issues being junk
EVER!
Regardless. ford had thousands of problems and hundreds of tecalls. F150 was/is/and will be the worse
Also Akebono break pads leave very little brake dust. I had them on an E55 benz & they were a life saver.
Have a 2014 Fiesta, hitting 146,000 miles and thankfully no problems yet. The DCT started to slip from 2nd to 3rd but got the trans fluid changed and reset and it made a pretty big difference.
My fiesta is 2011 (UK) and I've had it for almost 5 years. 84,000 miles and the same.. no major problems at all!
The tranny on my wife's 14 escape is a little off,I'm planning on changing the fluid next weekend, she's got a 36k mile warranty on it though, so even if its the tranny its not a big problem but I was thinking the same, I'll change the fluid and bring it to the dealer to reprogram it
Careful w/ high mileage tranny fluid changes. Save the old just in case or maybe just change half. & Always avoid GMC

Did your intake manifold gasket brake on you leaving your coil packs useless and engine misfiring? Happens to the best of us.
the thing with electric cars, you have to drive it casually in order to get better range, and don't exceed 65MPH when your traveling even though speed limit are 75 or 80MPH because the range will go down, and if the weather is nice and cool, turn the AC off and open up the intake vent, the range will get better, and when you approach the stop signs or red light, coast your car earlier, the generator will kick in and charge your battery a little, and light braking for you. if you buy a electric car, get a single motor not the dual motor.
Great pro tip! Same thing I do so save gas on my corolla. I see the difference in the mileage. The faster you go, the more you force your car to go against the air. I tried mentioning that to some people that drive 80-90 all the time and complain about mileage.

That is good new but keep an eye on the tcm in that car if it goes out you won’t be able to find that part hardly any where there are a lot of focus’s sitting at dealerships just needing that one part but it is said to be on back order up to 6 months to a year
Mines at 67,000 I'm nervous
I have a 2014 f150 v8 5.0 coyote engine and i love this truck
I got the manual transmission Fiesta to avoid that headache. But I bought the 3 cylinder edition with the turbo. Oh well, it's a decent car so far.
5:21 Scotty loves that wolverine. 😲😲😲
I have a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac V8. I love this truck. Take good care of it and it will take great care of you.
So you've actually told us how good actually the Fords can be!:D Thanks!
The Vaseline jar when he was talking about the Maserati dealership almost took me out! 🤣🤣🤣
I comes standard with Maserati when they are getting prepared to bend people over
I saw a bumper sticker that read,"I rather push a Chevy than drive Ford ". Truer words were never spoken. Enjoy pushing your Chevy.
Scotty usually: it says on the oil cap what weight oil to use. The engineers who designed these things know what oil it needs
Scottt this time: this truck is an old classic v8 give it the higher weight oil than it sahs
Because the old ones dont have vvt, and its OK
@@richsweeney1115 that truck has vvt.
I run royal purple 10/30 in my 08
During the summer I just toss very little motor honey in and never had issues, guess just a quart or so of heavier weight works fine.
Every ford truck I have had and that's 7 of them because I used them as an HVAC tech have been completey reliable no issues and we didn't exactly take care of them. Best trucks on the planet better then the Toyota.
Scotty says “on the other hand” ; love it. I am exhausted tracking your hands. No more hands! 😄
don't listen to him Scotty, use more hands.
I’ve had my ‘13 Focus hatch since new. 5 speed stick. No issues at all. Oil and filter every 3 months or 3,000 miles
Good luck with your Camry. I had two. A 2005 and a 2012. The 2012 left me stranded once on the side of the interstate.
@@DeadofWinter321 Then you drive like a maniac.
My Focus, '02, manual trans.
No problem, at all. 200k miles, fine suspension, cool mpg.
Rust will kill it.
Belt tensioner and an alternator, couple brake jobs and whatnot.
bad luck I guess. I had a 2004 and now a 2010, 2004 had just under 200k before selling it and now my 2010 has 130k, still no issues
Not a Word that it is made in Mexico, My friend has a New Tacoma that is also made in Mexico, But Not a Word lol
Scotty, I use, WAGNER, THERMO QUIET BRAKE PADS, SEMI METALIC OR CERAMIC THEY HAVE BOTH
Quite the recommendation for an 07 F-150. Never thought of getting a pickup, but might consider in the future.
the 4.6 runs very well
If you’re not familiar with taking overly good care of an f150 just get an 11 or newer with a 5.0 through 2015, the 4.6 and 5.4 had many issues but obviously some were good because the owners were very good
If you can get a 4.6 Triton that's been so much as looked at, they are great.
Evs are quicker, faster, tourquier, whatever you want to call it than their gas equivalent.
Electric cars have one speed and aren't designed for maximum speed. Of course many gas engines are programmed to cut power after revving the engine out as you would in a 1/4 mile drag race.
Always had good luck with fords and will continue to buy them
I used to have a 2010 F-150 XLT 4x4 with the 4.6 engine.
I know someone who has a 2001 ford focus with 350k miles. They are good vehicles
As Scotty said, less computer on a car means less headache.
Those old 2v tritons though could really take a beating
I love my 1999 F150. It’s paid for!
I have always done regular oil changes on any vehicle I have owned.
Huge Areolas are fun to work on😎!
I have the same. Great car. They run forever. The less computer crap the better. And I can still do some maintenance on it and save $.
The 5.4 3v has cam phaser issues too. Fordtechmakuloco is the 5.4 whisperer.
@@mcc7762 I’ll try to remember to look next time I see it.
I have an 09 5.4 lariat I am at 528,000kms and still going strong
I bought a 2010 F150 in December and it burned to the ground in my driveway in January.
@@andygarcia9864why did it burn down?
@@EpixSt33Lzthere was nothing left to investigate. They said most likely electrical
@@andygarcia9864 thats insane man
I would never buy anything with the Triton 5.4l 3V ever again. Loved that truck but hated that engine.
Agree 💯 l have a beautiful 2004 fx4 and the only ugly thing is the 5.4 3 valve. 😐 under the hood.
What was bad about the engine?
Same. I loved the engine but not the problems that came with it.
2012 ecoboost 5w 30 I run amsoil with pen filter change at 5k
Wish I knew the spark plug advice before one shot out from inside my Lincoln 🥴
Paid 9.5 for 2012 5.0 mustang have loved it it no problems
Wish I knew about the vvt issues on the 5.4 3 valve earlier 😐 looking at a 5k engine repair or 8k engine replacement
I bought 4x4 because I am towing a boat, pulling a boat out of water at certain ramps could be an issue with 2WD
I have a 1998 5.4 Expedition that had that problem. I don't drive now, but it was like $400 to get One Plug fixed.
yeah shop tried ripping me off for a spark plug job on my 2010, even though they fixed that issue in like 2008 or something lol. I just did it myself in a night for ultra cheap.
So..
Would buy = don't buy
Wouldn't buy = buy it
🤔😳
Very nice extremely professional shop. A shop that clean says very positive things about quality and the integrity of the pros that work there.
My 03 F-150 is damn near immortal, but I've gone through 2 alternators, and I've always gone with 5w-30 oil.
Then again, I run a 4.6 in mine.
Either way, great fuel economy, even by modern truck standards.
I’m running a 07 f150 with about 105k mile just changed the plugs real clean truck hope it last me another 10 years
I have nothing but good things to say about Ford , my 2017 Escape has 175K miles and its still running strong. My next car is going to be a Ford, I support American made but you don't!. I will NEVER buy a Javanese car ever again, they are all crap!
