Listening to these recollections really took me back to a time in my own life. Music has the power to trigger memories and emotions long packed away. Thank you, ABBA, for providing the soundtrack to so many lives, and thank you, podcasters and contributors for your sweet stories!
This was a fantastic time for me. ABBA as well because at this particular everything came ❤ together the music 🎶 the stage designs. Magical memories and the songs took a special new meaning.
I was a young teen at the Vancouver Canada concert, September 15th 1979. 11th row on the floor. Ticket cost $8.50!! I remember it like it was yesterday. Such a great show although they strangely omitted performing Waterloo. The Vancouver show was sold out and the largest of their tour (17,000 people). On the way out, I saw Agnetha backstage getting set up to do some local press.
Seeing Agnetha--that's pretty cool! In Phoenix (Tempe) they played Waterloo as their final encore, after The Way Old Friends Do and Dancing Queen. We had 14,000 people.
Ok Abbatalk Great podcast I was there twice at Wembley as went on November 5th with the first night shows and went 2 days later without Any Ticket and got 4 for the friendsas theynopened the side side sest by the stsge,as we were with at Wembley Arena
Age 13, I was in the sixth row at the 9/23 Tempe, Arizona show (Tempe is part of the Phoenix metro area). A couple clarifications: The program calls the venue "The Active Center," but it was actually the "ASU Activity Center" at Arizona State University. It was an ASU Sun Devils jersey that Frida put on during "Why Did It Have To Be Me," which is awesome (I'm a SUN DEVIL FOR LIFE!); and Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! hadn't been commercially released yet. Benny introduced it by saying, "Here's one you haven't heard before."
15:21 "...introducing someone as your old buddy"... At Wembley Arena it was Benny who mentioned that "the song was written by Björn's old friend". Not very elegant to say about Agnetha who was still Björn's wife, although in separation. Apart from that, Agnetha was humiliated by Björn on many other occasions, just to mention the band's touring US with his new girlfriend Lena keeping him company. What an arrogant jerk!
The way old friends convoys energy and enthusiam and is easy to see..their feelings ,their energy is palpable !
