I live in Korea and I was hiking up the mountain with some friends a few weeks ago. I started playing my ABBA playlist on Spotify and all the elderly people passing by us recognized the music and immediately smiled at me and made comments like "that's good music, good!". ABBA reached so many places, hearts and generations and I love it. ❤
Don't make such false information. The general public in Korea do not care much about ABBA. It is more amazing that even the elderly in Korea easily recognize BTS songs.

"It's strange to talk about ABBA in present tense," and that's coming from ABBA. So true. Still the first ones ever to make me appreciate contemporary music. Thank you for the music, Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, and Anni-Frid. I owe all of you, and I love you!

Check out Kristina From Duvemala if you haven't heard it. B & B wrote a musical based on a trilogy of novels. There are recordings of the show in Swedish and English. It is stunning. This is an expert from Time Magazine's review: "Some of the most rapturous melodies ever heard in Carnegie Hall poured out of that grand old barn last night. The occasion was the first English-language production of Kristina, a musical based on the four Emigrants novels by Wilhelm Moberg. Spanning two continents and the Atlantic in between, the three-hour epic has all the makings of a thrilling stage experience: noble peasants, dying children, powerful voices, the dream of a new land. Most of all, a superb score. No wonder that, at the end, cheers and a standing ovation greeted Kristina's creators: two spangled Swedes, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus - once, and always, the guys from ABBA." And from the Guardian in the U.K. "It was an evening of toe curling, passion and standing ovations. The lush, occasionally haunting, score peppered with operatic aspirations was delivered by the Symphony Orchestra under the baton of no less than Drama Desk and Tony Lifetime Achievement Award-winning Paul Gemignani. The music soared rhapsodically as if to fill every nook and cranny of the vast hall." I can vouch for that. It's almost criminal B & B didn't pare it down to 2 1/2 hours, lighten it up a bit, and send it to Broadway. It would still be writing. It was epic!

Just to add that Agnetha did a radio interview in Sweden these past few weeks to talk about the new songs. She mentioned and how humbled she and abba are with the reaction. What I love about them is they were always about the music, not showy or pretencious.
My mom passed away last year to dementia/alzheimer’s, and this brought me back the sweetest memories of her fond love of ABBA. I use to always play her favorite songs on their album and would always groove to it 🤍
I sympathize with you, my mom also left us this last January 9th, 2022 just shy of her 80th birthday on Feb. 20th and our shared music of those magical days was something that would 'revive' her spirits when we listened to it together. Music has such power when it is paired with love which creates the 'feeling tone' in our hearts plied with our irreplaceable memories and as long as we keep feeling that love of it, it will never be extinguished. My dear condolences to you & your loved ones. Long live Music, the Force that bind us together! Thanks for sharing. 💖
I'm another person who will say I have tears in my eyes. Their music just makes me happy. My daughter, 21, and I sing Abba songs on every road trip we take. ❤️
ABBA go through generations without fading, still a joy in the present world to listen to, reflecting life and emotions we no long hear in today's songs.
If someone was to ask me "why do you still listen to ABBA at 50 i just tell it as it is that they have been a band that i have listened to since i was 7 or 8 and i think its their lyrics to their songs that has kept generations still listening to this day So to hear and watch all 4 members record in a studio after 40 years is like a breath of fresh air and they still have that distintive sound and voice that you can identify straight away. So to round my message up i guess every generation of ABBA fans knew that just one day there may be a chance to see and hear them as 4 once again. Take it easy ABBA fans wherever you may be. :-)
Far better than Justin Bieber, Kanye West and their likes. Today's music is borderline atrocious and for us, the grown ups, it has crossed the line and it is atrocious on steroids. Luckily we have some good quality music from the last decades to go by. ViVa Abba
It sounds as good as ever, because their music is REALLY beautiful. True beauty. It has stood the test of time. Most pop music today is just rubbish - so for that reason I do not even listen to the radio, cannot stand it. Only listen to recorded music.
The B’s are true composers, how many groups that write their own songs can carry a complete musical? These two have done that multiple times to boot! I think the group was one of the first to venture into the video/cinematic back in the ‘70’s as well; very forward thinking for the time.
These guys are actual geniuses. I enjoy hearing artists talk about how they found inspiration and translated it into song. There is something about ABBA's music that has somehow touched every single person on the planet. And it seems to be limitless.

They made a lot of great music, but it’s a stretch to say they ruled the 70s. I wouldn’t say any band did for that matter. The list of great bands from that era is long. Fleetwood Mac, the Bee Gees, the Stones, the Eagles, Led Zeppelin…and that’s just a start. They were still a great band though.

As I step carefully into my own 74th year on this planet, there are still some things that make me tear up...with smiles and happiness for having experienced them. One of those things is, the music of ABBA. G Gordon Liddy, raved about ABBA on his AM radio show. The watergate operative. He’d give out relationship advice in his show. He talked about biting his German Shepards on the gums to show he was the alpha owner. He claimed everything was in his wife’s name who he loved tremendously. Those were the days of AM radio and FM was symphonic or the beginning of private labels from entrepreneurial musicians. Now a huge part of the public radio market.
@@bophreyhumgart2953 They all came from very simple backgrounds in the countryside and after the war and know how it is not to have money. Also, in spite of having all that money they have since the late 70's, they haven't spent it lavishly but live very simple ordinary lives here in Sweden. You see them every now and then out and about in Stockholm and they go to regular lunch restaurants, drive normal cars etc., not dressed in fancy clothes (clearly seen in this segment), no expensive accessories, cars etc. It's the Swedish way if you like, people don't change lifestyle or flaunt it here when they achieve wealth, the owner of IKEA was the same. Benny always say that the money has given them the artistic freedom, they are in full control of their catalogue, label and absolutely everything so they can afford to invest in theirs and others creativity. They've done the London musical "Chess, the Swedish musical "Kristina från Duvemåla", the "Mamma Mia" shows, musical and films, they are building their own arena in London for their new show and they don't have to ask anyone to fund it for them and they don't need to compromise their visions. They were offered 1 Billion dollar in 2000 to perform in 10 concerts, they declined. All these investments they've made could have been flops, they could have lost all their personal investments in what they produce but luckily they haven't. So when Benny makes that comment, he means that the money is a tool for them to keep creating as they do. All four of them always express outmost gratitude, they never took their success for granted and as you can see in this segment - they still don't after 50 years.
@@bophreyhumgart2953 It may be due to us having had a functioning social network in Sweden for many years, but it is not uncommon to use the frase "it is only money" in Sweden. The drivers will normally get out of their cars, make sure noone is hurt and exchange insurance information. The attitude is "It's just things, noone is hurt."

I think since the beginning of ABBA's return both ladies, Agnetha and Anni-Frid, were not involved in every interview. Maybe they object to the interview.
My understanding is that one of their (the ladies') stipulations before agreeing to be part of this ABBA comeback was that they NOT have to deal with interviews or the media in general. They also have no interest in embarking on an actual tour.....hence, the virtual show featuring their digital ABBA-tars. I'm disappointed but can't say I blame them. Pure brutal death metal legends. I enjoy their blast beats and their satanic lyrics.
That must have been an experience. Lovely
Don't make such false information. The general public in Korea do not care much about ABBA. It is more amazing that even the elderly in Korea easily recognize BTS songs.
@@kingofpopbts2080 HAVE YOU BEEN TO KOREA FOR YOU TO SAY THAT? STUPID BTS FAN, MOST OF THE KOREANS THERE ARE LISTENING TO ENGLISH SONGS FROM JUSTIN BEIBER AND OTHER FOREIGN MUSICIANS, NOT EVERYONE THERE LIKE KPOP!! STUPID!
I grew up in Seoul, Korea. ABBA was big there in the 70s. I still remember my middle school friend’s ABBA bag.
I started listening to pop songs starting with "Thank you for the music box set" that my father bought on a business trip to Sweden in 1994.(My dad liked ABBA while he was in school in the 70s)
In Korea, ABBA's songs have been played a lot with advertising music and drama tracks, and are actually popular with young people and the elderly.
I'm so glad to hear that my forever pop star ABBA released a new album after 40 years.
Just when the world needed them most ABBA returns to make things better.

"It's strange to talk about ABBA in present tense," and that's coming from ABBA. So true. They've been out of the spotlights for most of the past 40 years, but here they are: again topic of conversation, again in context, and again spectacular. Still my most favorite band ever. Still the first ones ever to make me appreciate contemporary music. Thank you for the music, Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, and Anni-Frid. I owe all of you, and I love you!
Its hard to believe, that they as old and wise and very rich peoole got need that spotlight and talks.
They refused to unite and perform in so many decades. And it was very wise and dignified.

Für den Legendenstatus ist das erneute Auftreten nicht förderlich. Aber das wären Gedanken der Eitelkeit und eitel sind die vier nicht. Sie haben sich ihre Natürlichkeit bis heute bewahrt.
Abba music is so Angellistic. Even when my grandchildren listen to it, am sure they will love it to the fullest
Check out Kristina From Duvemala if you haven't heard it. B & B wrote a musical based on a trilogy of novels. There are recordings of the show in Swedish and English.
It is stunning.
This is an expert from Time Magazine's review:
"Some of the most rapturous melodies ever heard in Carnegie Hall poured out of that grand old barn last night. No wonder that, at the end, cheers and a standing ovation greeted Kristina's creators: two spangled Swedes, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus - once, and always, the guys from ABBA."
And from the Guardian in the U.K.
The music soared rhapsodically as if to fill every nook and cranny of the vast hall."
I can vouch for that. It's almost criminal B & B didn't pare it down to 2 1/2 hours, lighten it up a bit, and send it to Broadway. It would still be writing. It was epic!

I'm steeped in the world of classical music and, I am always happy to admit, I listen to ABBA. The group is wonderful.
I’m on the opposite end- heavy metal, yet I’ll sing and dance to ABBA like no tomorrow.
I think there are a lot of classical music references in ABBA's music.
I agree, I find myself clicking on Halidonmusic videos more and more
That's because their music has classical influences buried in it.
Whether it was ABBA, the Beatles, Brian Wilson, Carol King, even Led Zeppelin, there was classical elements in all their music. That’s the difference.
Everything they do is nothing but uplifting, encouraging and inspiring. One of the very best.
My mom passed away last year to dementia/alzheimer’s, and this brought me back the sweetest memories of her fond love of ABBA. I use to always play her favorite songs on their album and would always groove to it 🤍

If someone was to ask me "why do you still listen to ABBA at 50 i just tell it as it is that they have been a band that i have listened to since i was 7 or 8 and i think its their lyrics to their songs that has kept generations still listening to this day
So to hear and watch all 4 members record in a studio after 40 years is like a breath of fresh air and they still have that distintive sound and voice that you can identify straight away.
So to round my message up i guess every generation of ABBA fans knew that just one day there may be a chance to see and hear them as 4 once again.

Hmmm.... I'd say "wise words" from someone who clearly has never had to worry about having enough money to buy the basics. Some of us do, you know.

@@juliettailor1616 they are Swedish by birth, right? They live in Sweden until now, right? So Sweden is part in every fabric in each one of them. America dont have exclusive right over pop culture and English language...Music my dear is universal where ever you maybe.
Wow, didn't know they had a museum! Very cool!
They are Swedish. So they still live in Sweden, born there, lived there all their lives. They also sing in Swedish. A good part of Swedish people also speak fluent English because they are not to lazy to learn another language like a lot of us.
"Dancing Queen" is my go-to music when I'm feeling sad, happy, depressed, or lonely. It makes me feel like I want to live again.
There was always SOMETHING IN THE AIR with ABBA.. SOMETHING special in every way. Lyrics, voices, the whole vibration was mesmerizing and inspirational. Thank you!
That is true.
"Mesmerizing" is the perfect description!
Amen to that True Statement! A rush for the senses.. Serotonin for the Brain! 😎
FYI on YT, Play Storm's extended remix of ,"JUST A NOTION" and put on your Jitterbug dancing shoes! 👍
Absolutely ..... and it is sometimes so hard to explain or almost impossible to explain . Magic
Let me tell you a little story. Four women go to see the movie Abba and from there we deide to go to NYCity to see the Musical. We plan an overnight flight to the city all 4 stay in one hotel room and see the musical and come back home to Maine the next day. That cemented a friendship of almost 25 years now. We have been thru births, divorce, marriages and lots in between. At the weddings we always dance together to Dancing Queen. We call ourselves SOS. SIster Of Soul. ABBA is in our souls.
Great story!!
I'm sure you have plenty stories..😀
Wonderful life, that's worthy.
great story
Wow how blessed you all have been ❤️ thank you for sharing this
"The Winner Takes It All" is still one of my all time favorite songs.
Especially as sung so splendidly by Meryl Streep in the film! From the heart!
Me too. It makes me cry til this day.
That song is my favorite one forever.
It's just amazing to me that Benny can play some random music on the piano that he just made up and it already sounds incredible. But to him it's just random "rubbish" that he plays until he gets to the stuff he really likes. So much talent.
Absolutely love this group - have since they started many years ago. Such a special sound.
Their music is beautiful. That’s why everyone loves it so much!
ABBA is iconic, we needed this now more than ever❤
Lifetime lover of ABBA and will NEVER get tired of their fabulous music! Long live ABBA!
I was born 1979 in Philippines when I started knowing them and hearing thier songs ,become very inlove with these group.
thank you ABBA for your sharing your talents to the WORLD again and again🙏
replying from the philippines po and also an ABBA fan!!!
PH!!!
Grew up with Abba since high school. Thank you for the music.
Long Live ABBA ❤
I've always loved what the pure magic of what ABBA is. They never lost their magic.
F**k Rolling Stone
@@michaelhumphrey8426 Exactly!
Ah yes, the magic of banality
@@jamiepastman5594 Magic: yes Banal: no
Much like the Bee Gees, ABBA's music has stood the test of time. It's not going away... ever.
I've never heard it until now, so it went away
@@wmwm2194 ......Guess what? There was the ultimate band in the 60's called the Beatles. Two surviving members still tour. Ever heard of them? 😂😂😂😂
@@conniedoan6917 Nothing the original poster said discounts the Beatles' achievements. The OP was defenfing Abba and the Bee Gees because many people regard those bands, and the era they are most associated with, as disposable.
@@glennpagemusic they are disposable. Its terrible.
@@rogerphilabaum4563 Well, if it's disposable, it's taking a damn loooong while to be disposed of. The musical based on their songs is beloved by millions and spawned two huge movies, many decades later. Abba Gold, the greatest hits, is still a best seller to this day. Many famous current musicians cite them as an influence. What you're saying is an unsupported value judgement.
I fell in love with ABBA because it's the music my parents listened to when I was a kid. My mom is 75 now, around their age. ABBA will always be the music I grew up listening to and I can't even articulate how awesome it makes me feel when I listen to it. I'm so glad to know they're all alive and well and I can't wait to hear the new album.
I am 28 and my old soul reconnects with its 70s life. Love Abba
After many years, we can say back to ABBA "Thank you for the music" .
For the music you've given to us, not only when they were togwther, but everyday we heard one of their songs.
"Thanks for all the joy they're bringing", to us, to our children, to our families.
"Who can live without it?" Not me, not the millions of fans (former and new)
And with these new songs, we can have a christmas present in november.
I repeat "thank you for your music"
Es tan hermoso y cierto. ❤❤❤❤
Well said.
It IS a shame that the two ladies weren't there for the interview. And yes, the voices are still there. Definitely!
They've been enjoying a quiet life outside the spotlight and are now in their 70s - who needs all the hassle and headaches at this stage of the game?
Agnetha did do a Swedish radio interview shortly after the first two songs dropped. It's on YT with a transcription you can translate. She was very happy.
It’s all about vanity. 🤷♂️
@@brettjones4300 Doing live performances is exhausting! Especially for people of their age I can't blame them for not wanting to do a conventional tour.
I love the fact that all 4 are alive!!!!!!!!❤️ I was born in 1992, but my parents introduced us to this kind of music and many others classic, ageless , forever hits.
I learned so much watching this. Never knew they were 2 couples married.
I’m watching mama Mia for the first time and it showed me how many hits they had. Great group out of Sweden. I recall hearing their songs as a kid.
This was My Dad's favorite band. I remember listening to Abba with my Dad. Since he has passed, I listen to Abba now and remember how much fun we had listening and dancing to them. It brings back so many happy me
