You’re literally painting models I own in fantastic ways that makes me want to paint them this way. This hybrid takes away the illusion of True NMM where you have to look at the mini in a specific angle to get the effect, you’re able to spin this model and the effect shines from every angle.
NMM never looks convincing. It can look great, very interesting. But it never looks like metal. On a 2D art piece where there artist has full control of the viewing angle I’d say it’s pretty good. On models it’s just not metal.
I have to honestly thank you, mate - I am learning so much from this channel. I do not know why it is that I can just follow your tutorials so much better than any other creator´s videos, but even though, of course, my tries in a leather coat and this awesome hybrid metal armor do not look as awesome as your minis, they absolutely do look better than anything I worked on before since I follow your tutorials lately. I am exploring a new level of painting with you, so, again, thanks a ton, bro!
Just recently tried mixing some paint in with my metallics to tint them but I never would have thought you could take it this far. That's a beautiful effect you achieved! Don't think I've seen another creator show us so many ways to make weathered metal as you. Thanks again dude!
That looks lovely bud! I’ve always been a bit put off by NMM, when it’s done well it looks superb, but it’s easy to make it look just wrong and that’s put me off even attempting it and just sticking with TMM. But this hybrid technique looks really good and your video and explanation came across nicely, I’m gonna have to give it a go sometime. Oh and I believe the posh painterly name for the technique you call using a base tone in your mix is to use a “mother colour” Thanks for a great video, carry on being awesome and take care.
it looks awesome. I gathered a few AoS units, and I painted one Vindicator in its golden armor. I'm not very keen on the result. I'll try to do something like that. Awesome Video as always. Thanks for sharing the idea.
Jeez mate! You've been uploading a lot of videos lately, great work! I really enjoyed this tutorial, I think it's one of your best videos, it gives an amazing result and it's really easy to do. I am definitely going to try! 😁
Thanks a ton! Yea had a little time to make some. I have somthing going off atm in my personal life which might slow me down a little over the coming weeks. But in other news ive just got a new camera so should be able to get some newer closer better footage 👌🏻
This is definitely my new favourite way to paint metal! The results are stunning! Thank you
Thank you! Cheers!
I've always mixed my metalics. Browns into silver work well, and white for highlights. Sounds odd, but I like it.
Yea looks cool dosnt it
Great work sir, even though I had already tried something similar on my Dante I took a lot away from this. Thank you
Glad it helped
Amazing tutorial. Will definitely try it. For the silvery metal would you use the same brown tones but a silver base to mix it up instead of the gold?
No i would use greys blacks and whites with silver. I will be doing a tutorial for silver iteams
Cool
Unless NMM is done to Golden Demon standard it generally looks a bit gammy
Agreed

Cool paint job. Tha 200th like is mine. 😁
Thanks man
very nice tutorial! Is that how you panted that abbadon trim as well (on your IG)?
Yes, it is!
With this technique do you ever base an area out in a pure non metallic paint, or highlight up to a pure metallic paint?
I just do as i explained in the video
Could we see a bit of the paint mixing?
Its literally just 50/50. Nothing special. If u want to reach out to me on instagram i can happily send u a 10second clip of me mixing paint?
i think some of the edges need a stronger edgehighlight to sell the effect even more
Thanks

Sounds good man!
