    1. Claude Monet is from La Havre and made the cliffs of Etretat famous in his paintings, as did many of the other Impressionist
    2. Deauville and Honfleur, located west of La Havre were also favorite painting sites of the Impressionist.
    3. Thanks for taking us up to the Top of the Main Cliff. I'm 71 and couldn't make it to the cave much less the top of the cliff. However, I did drive to the top of the opposing cliff. You can get great views of the Main cliff from there, plus the drive is wild.
    4.Sylvaij Sarrazin videoed the cliffs of Etretat with a DJI Mavic pro on Oct 2, 2017. Its on UA-cam.
    Thanks again. RAW

      I believe Erik Satie was born and grew up in Honfleur and they have a really cool museum there about his works. I was there when I was a kid but sadly didn't get the chance to explore more of that town.

    Awesome! My favorite thing to do when I'm traveling is to just explore until I find something really cool and then explore some more. That bunker in the cliff was great!

    • @Theendlessadventure
      @Theendlessadventure  7 років тому +1

      👆 definitely the best way to find adventures! We couldn't believe how free we were to explore... I don't think they'd let us do that i the states, especially not with the tide coming in 😮

    • @JacobCarlson
      @JacobCarlson 7 років тому

      Definitely not. Although, surprisingly there are some really cool abandoned military bunkers here in NYC out along the coast in far Brooklyn. There is some great exploring to be had there.

      That's what we love doing, too! We were really into geocaching a couple of years ago, and the best geocaches by far were "lost place caches" in abandoned buildings and on abandoned military bases.

    What you saw in the distance in Le Havre is most like the Southern Normandie or the Cotentin Peninsula between Normandie and Britanny. It is impossible to see England from Le Havre, it's too far away and the area is also oriented toward the south-west, away from England. 😁

    If you're still in the North of France and have the chance to drive up north towards Belgium, make sure you visit Wissant and Boulogne sur Mer. It is amazing over there. And the French cuisine, we miss it here in Mexico.

    I loved visiting northern France a couple of years ago. Check out Amiens and its Cathedral also there are many WW1 cemeteries dotted in the landscape near the Somme river. Also the ceremony at the Menin gate would be great to see.

    Awww, you guys should've stopped by Bayeux. They have the Bayeux tapestry that recounts William the Conqueror's conquest of England. Then head on the the beaches of Normandy, since it's not too far.

    The line you see in the distance is not England (this is not possible, unless you are in Calais in the far north of France), but the coast of "lower Normandy" = the department of Calvados, with Deauville and the landing beaches; because you see on the other side of the estuary of the Seine. I recognize the beach street of the town of Sainte-Adresse which adjoins the town of Le Havre.
    The structure with the swimming pool and other basins are the former oyster farm of Queen Marie-Antoinette.

    So many memories, I used to be sailing into Le Havre often as it was one of our ports of call. Couldn't venture too far out due to time and transport. Love to revisit. Keep exploring.

    This cliff beach is also featured in the king's daughter's movie trailer😍 came here last yr to do the hikes to see the cliff formations, stayed all the way til sunset to take pics of the cliffs & the beach is awesome too & the walk to the cave part was uneven, my shoe even got caught in between😅

    That beach was really cool! We went to Omaha Beach years ago but it didn't have all the cliffs and caves that your beach had. And that restaurant alone seems like reason enough to go there. Definitely putting that on the list. Thanks for sharing! -Brian

    Great video. Sorry to tell you this, but you can't see England from Le Havre. I've done the ferry ride from Le Havre to Portsmouth a couple of times and at the mid point you can't see either France or England. To see England you'd need to go much further north to Calais.
