    These are the most thorough and detailed instructions out there. Love how you explain what not to do, as well as the consequences of doing it. Really helps with troubleshooting when you’re trying to apply this in practice. Thank you!

    The best kitesurf channel just got better!!!!!! Thanks for uploading these. May we expect some tutorials on jumps (simple ones, like pops, holly, 180...) with strapless boards as well?

      Hello Nico. I've filmed gybes and ollies/pops so far. I'll try to cover rotations later in the year.

    Is there a disadvantage to simply toe turning? Or is it just more difficult to stay upwind?

    Awesome explanation. I've been trying in waves and choppy water... not easy - any tips in these conditions?

    • @kitesurfcollege

      Hello Brad. I learnt in waves and chop - it's doable but definitely more of a challenge. We only travel to the river mouth shown in the video when we need to film. I'd say be careful of the breaking waves. They will carry your board away easily. You may be tempted to use a board leash but they are truly dangerous. I usually practice strapless tricks behind the breakers, and look for days with less swell, and lower tides. Also when there's big swell, I don't try new stuff, I just dodge the waves, and if the swell if monstrous (6m swell is common where I live), then I usually chicken out and take my twintip instead. Also, with choppy water, I do a much quicker tack. I slow down to a halt, and then force the board around rapidly and swap my feet. It leave less time to be affect by the chop/waves.

      Thanks heaps for the tips. I finally done it yesterday - 6 times, in choppy ocean swell. The key is obviously having the kite at 12 when doing the flick and not being too worried about speed coming into it. I kept going back and watching the clip to get the move planted in my head. You didn't mention that I would got a sore hamstring from flicking the board around :) but that's ok I am very happy - Once again great clip and explanation - THANKS.

    Can you let me know the Ion harness the rider is using plse?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  Рік тому

      Hello James, that's a duotone apex harness, which is a medium firmness harness, not a hard shell. I like these as I can loosen them for wave riding or foiling, or tighten them for big air. You can also swap the hook for a slider system if you're mainly wave riding etc. It's also quite soft around the edges so doesn't seem to jab me in the ribs. With harnesses it's worth trying them on first if possible to see if they fit your body shape well.
