  • It seems that MHWilds will be an open-world, or atleast open-area, game. The current quest system won't work in that format, and so Capcom will have to change it. Here is how i think that will happen!

    I want subquests to be tied to main quests again and be functionally a method of target farm specific parts or materials

  • @jockpackage1770
    @jockpackage1770 5 місяців тому +3

    the research requests could also include more unique things based on the monster like certain part breaks, unique interactions with a monster like if they do something weird when you throw a sonic bomb, when an arzeros will let you go from his pin attack to steal your honey, witnessing a particular turf war, etc.

      @@kroze2855 exactly, i'd be fine with either it working like the subquest system or something new where say it's a task on the map that is separate. so like you go on a quest for a rathalos and you have some requests where none involve rathalos but a monster that is part of one of them shows up. you have the option of staying on the rathalos to finish the hunt and fight the other monster later or you choose to pursue the other monster for the research request before going back to rathalos. yet another choice is presented of do you want to finish a kill or capture of the other monster or just the objective, before retruning to the rathalos hunt.

    What I kind of want is to have a more free form experience. Have the village quests as a way to guide players to hunting specific monsters for money and town improvements/special tools, but tie progression to simply hunting a certain number of monsters and gaining research points before you get an 'urgent request' or story assignment. Investigations, I'd honestly prefer to create my own, select from monsters I've hunted, give them research points to set up the field prep, get more or less rewards based on the boons and handicaps I want. Could even do stuff like 'field testing' where they buff the monster , maybe tempered or always enraged or immune to traps, to get bonus rewards.

    Discouraging hunting the same monster repeatedly? In a game where you hunt monsters repeatedly to get enough materials to make better gear? I doubt Capcom would actively sabotage their own game like that. The gameplay loop is SUPER important to monster hunter and was part of how it got so popular in Japan in the first place, I don't think they would change the quests just for immersion and risk alienating their entire Japanese player base

    • @NoImNotPedro
      @NoImNotPedro  5 місяців тому +3

      Discouraging doesn't mean preventing. Obviously the hunter would keep hunting the same monster if they needed the materials, even if they got less zenny for it after each time. The bounty going down just prevents the player from earning too much zenny for grinding. Also if the player wants monster materials, my system suggests that grinding investigations might also be beneficial. In my view, a mix of both tasks/hunting and investigations is essential

    • @gabedoesthings2400
      @gabedoesthings2400 5 місяців тому

      Linguistically speaking, preventing is not the same thing as discouraging, but it's on the same track. Even if they discourage it, it's not as bad, but it still would be controversial since it would mess with the gameplay loop

    • @NoImNotPedro
      @NoImNotPedro  5 місяців тому +1

      @gabedoesthings2400 I understand people would find the idea controversial. But in practice, if it was in the game, i dont think anyone would be bothered by it. You would only be loosing on some zenny. Hunters only tend to grind in the endgame anyway when zenny is plentyfull. You would have a reason to interact with bounties at the start because money is important, but by the end game who cares, hunt whatever you want

      Honestly the best system i feel is the damn investigation quests from world. You still have to track or fight the monsters before investigation quests can open up and fight them again for the rewards which still keep the core gameplay loop but less rng nightmare for that 5% gem/mantle/palladium. It is no joke that it is one of QoL i miss the most transition from world to rise as you can do it pretty early and dont have to grind for lots of investigation coins to buy mats

    i like the idea of the rewards decreasing depending how much you hunted a monster. i feel like that will do a better job at making us take different hunts instead of spamming a single efficient quest like we did with narwa back in rise. maybe they can try an implement a similler system to the talisman/jewel grind.

    I doubt the world would be open from that get go, some I’m guessing u will have to do quest to set up out post which will open the map and each outpost would work as a mini hub where u can pick up and deliver quest that way by the time u hit endgame the whole map is open and then it would work like the guidelands in iceborn and when we get the expansion they would just add more to the map and repeat the process

    yeah, the end game loop is literally fighting the same monster trying to master how to punish it's move set. There should not be any system that pushes you to or not to hunt any monster besides your own goals.

    • @NoImNotPedro
      @NoImNotPedro  5 місяців тому +1

      I don't think your argument makes too much sense, consider that the guiding lands is a system that pushes you to hunt monsters that are not your goal for hours, just so you can hunt one monster that you want. Im sure you could find an equivalent mechanic in Rise/Sunbreak. Things like this already exist in other monster hunter games. In my system: If you want to earn Zenny, then hunt whichever monster has the highest bounty. If you dont care about zenny, hunt whatever you want, just like in any other Monster Hunter game. I really don't see the problem.

    • @nekomancer4641
      @nekomancer4641 5 місяців тому +1

      I get what your saying. But the "punishment" OP mentioned will literally not be a punishment in true end game. Zenny won't matter in end game stage.

    • @joshbarr118
      @joshbarr118 5 місяців тому

      @@NoImNotPedro The guiding lands is a place to spend time killings monsters for not vital but still useful loot. making playing with friends, randoms, new weapons easier and more appealing than up a 3 faint quest etc. If anything it is a place to call your own to progress towards upgrades that are more QOL than anything but also acts as a 3rd party Transition space aside from the hubs to meet/play with people and not it be so serious. Also you can just ask someone with a high level region to lure a specific monster for specific parts making it far less of a grind than it has to be. The guiding lands rewards you for the time you put into it. The exact opposite of diminishing return on repeat quests that i was referring too. If anything monsters should have a increase on returns based off research/hunts. the more hunts the more drops etc. If they tied in monsters to world economy then maybe special daily quests or 1 off random quests that offer double X reward for X monster hunt. Because it's been awhile since the village has had X resource.

    Wilds and World will be similar. They already announced that they switch between major games, and then more mobile ones like rise for the switch. Thank god too cuz the way things work in Rise wouldn't work in Wilds.

    • @NoImNotPedro
      @NoImNotPedro  5 місяців тому +1

      I agree. They haven't really announced it per say, but its pretty clear from the leaked internal documents, game directors and marketing that World and Wilds are mainline titles, while Rise follows the portable phylosophy like in Generations/Generations Ultimate.

      @NoImNotPedro destiny makes you go to a bounty board along side getting bounties from npcs, some bounties are at your level while some are pushing you to more dangerous, while some makes you complete investigation in forms of quest steps but ultimately you got to go back anyways
      If one far side is having to go back every time like a proper investigation vs having it already in your inventory when you login, destiny is in the middle and it just ends up infuriates both sides more than anything

    We already have key quest for speed running the game. If the bounty quest don’t do anything why bother to implement them. On every game mh end game the player have enough zenny to be fashion hunters.

    • @NoImNotPedro
      @NoImNotPedro  5 місяців тому

      Bounties aren't quests. They are an always active reward for the player, when they hunt any monster. If you just go out to the field and hunt a rathalos, you get the bounty for it. It is a way of the village rewarding you with Zenny everytime you do your job as a hunter.
      By the end game checking which bounties are high and which are low could, for the most part, be ignored, unless you really need zenny. But, in the early and mid game, the player would really want to know which monsters to hunt out in the field when they go on expeditions to earn as much zenny as possible.

    If Monster Hunter goes "open-world", Capcom will lose me as a fan. There is absolutely NO reason to change the identity of the series so drastically in favor of making it into another dogshit Ubisoft game. Also, isn't this basically Dos' quest system but a bit more fleshed out? I don't really see how any of these quest types are that different from what we already have.
