The Beach Boys are an American rock band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Distinguished for their vocal harmonies, adolescent-oriented themes, and musical ingenuity, they are one of the most influential acts of the rock era. They drew on the music of older pop vocal groups, 1950s rock and roll, and black R&B to create their unique sound, and under Brian's direction, often incorporated classical or jazz elements and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways.
You are the best Maureen! So soulful and open-mined.I allways love to watch you listening with your heart! Please listen to The Beatles. Let it be,Here there and everywhere,Hey jude,Yesterday,Shes leaving Home,Something..so many superbeautiful ballads
Brian Wilson believes that this song came to him directly from God. I'm not going to argue. 4-track tape recorder... all real instruments... no pitch correction... no digital effects... no software that will replace individual notes... no sexual content... no violence... no hatred... no synths... nothing to make your voice sound better. Paul McCartney has called it the greatest song ever written. I agree with him. It comes from the #1 ranked album of all-time... Pet Sounds. #2 ranked by Rolling Stone behind Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin On.' I love your analysis Maureen.
Truly one of the most beautiful songs of the 20th century. God Only Knows what we'd be without you, sweet Maureen. I loved your reaction to this all time classic. Have a wonderful weekend Hun. Your pal, RNB
This song always makes me cry, in a good way. It's not just the words (though those ARE fantastic as well), but the key change. The singers, the main instruments, are on one key, and the bass is on another. I'm not a professional musician, so that's the best way I can describe it. It has a universal emotional effect. Paul McCartney explained this a few years ago when he was asked about his favorite songs, and this was one of them, because the key choices Brian Wilson made when composing were considered new and odd at the time. It inspired McCartney/The Beatles so much, that Sgt. Pepper's was the result. He said that it still, to this day, makes him cry every time.
Thats the power of beautiful music. Beautiful reaction.
Thank you

A song so achingly beautiful that Paul McCartney called it his favorite song. Always brings tears to my eyes too

There'd be no Beatles without the Beach Boys.
