I moved from LB and at first it was difficult because I’ve been all my life living in the Long Beach area but now I don’t regret buying up here my first big home for very cheap price.
I move from Pasadena to Victorville 3yrs ago and I have no regrets I know it’s a big change but honestly I am very happy I live in peace and it’s so quite in the area I’ve nv seen anything bad thank God well bad things happen in every city look at LA, Bervely Hills, San Bernandino its just everywhere. thanks for being vulnerable and giving so much info. i grew up in the HD and yet you still teach me things! Please keep making content, you’re like the only HD-centered content creator and that is important!
Hello, I have a question for you I saw a video you made a few weeks ago about spaces that were for sale in Apple Valley were you can put a small house can you pls give me more info on that
Lived in Apple Valley, CA, for four years. What it is missing is a nice big well appointed public park for public use. Green spaces. Groceries are cheaper and less amenities. But if you want more hustle and bustle, LA and Orange Counties. I'm good for now and will give it a few more years.
Don’t move up here if you have kids or need work. There is ZERO opportunity other than the cannabis industry. Many of the people up here are a bit weird and sketchy. There is also way too many people here now. It’s not safe. My son has been attacked, I have been attacked. I witnessed a shootout in my neighborhood and also at Stater Bros. If you are trying to escape “hood” life like I was, it is all moving up here. I will be leaving this place ASAP. Been here for 10 years now. The first 3 we’re good but now it’s like living back in LA with no upsides. Living here was a-lot cheaper but not anymore. Inflation caught up with housing here so if your new to this place all the savings are gone now. An apartment that used to be 900$ a month in 2017 is now like 2500$. My advice again, don’t come here.
Thanks for the feedback Everyone will have their own story to why they move to the high desert. I don’t know how long I will live in the high desert but for now this is home for me.
I have lived in the HD all my life, it's affordable, quite, not has much traffic, my family started in hesperia, has a single man lived in Adelanto, Victorville. The HD does not have all the amenities but life is good here. I now reside in Apple valley and I love it.
I was there in Victorville for 2 years on company assignment. The first thing I always look for in towns/cities is what the billboard advertisements reveal. Victorville billboards have accident lawyers, collision centers, body repair shops. Sure enough, I wasn't there 6 months and a semi truck drifted in to my vehicle. I have never seen such an accident prone area, it was unreal. I believe law enforcement is too busy with accident reports to handle resourcing them to traffic enforcement. The Walmarts have many items locked in secure cabinets, much more so than other Walmarts. Seemed to me like high rates of homelessness also, just schizophrenic and drug addicts drifting around. But hey, lots of sunshine
Please please discuss the allergies that come with living in the high desert.. Many of us have been here 16+ years and have been suffering debilitating chronic sinusitis. Please make people aware
Thanks for sharing. I don’t know if everyone suffers from allergies 🤧 but I have notice myself have a little more allergies I never thought it was because of living here. Thanks again for the comment!
IKR? The pollen is ridiculous in the early spring! I tried to use my phone outside and had to keep wiping pollen away every couple of minutes to be able to see the screen. And then the raging headache and sneezing hit.
I lived there from early 90s to mid 2000s. It was very quiet, not crowded, and from what I remember mostly old folks. People I know that live there still they say it's way changed and not for the better.
It's NOT cheaper to live here. Gas prices and if you want a survivable income you HAVE to drive in horrendous traffic down the hill. There's NOT enough jobs available and the majority of jobs they want to pay cheapest rates! Low income people get stuck here like that song Hotel California. Crime rates are crazy. The county workers drive around passed homeless people to find any reason to cite homeowners for code violations.
Thanks for sharing I always say it in my videos that I don’t have to commute to work and if I had to i would probably really rethinking moving into the area. Thanks for watching
I was born and raised there from 92 to 2016 pretty much. I know every little place in the area very well. I left since I knew there was more in life beyond there, I couldn't just stay there, it wasn't that it was boring, theres just not so much opportunity there. I do like to go back and visit at least once a year.
I appreciate you Sharing that with us Aaron. A lot of people are just looking for information so they can make a better decision to move here or not to move. Thank you 🙏🏻
The High Desert is totally different! I have lived here since 1995. IT has changed! I moved here because I requested a transfer to continue working with my permanent Employer. Summer very hot! Winter's freezing! Very windy also.. too much dust. Manny persons live here a year or two, they go back if they can. Lately to manny homeless. They need help! Too many accidents! If you are here make the best you can be happy get along with others.
Hello Gloria This is some great information Gloria for sure I think everyone has Their own reasons to live here in the high desert i don’t think you will get up 1 day and tell yourself I’m moving to the desert lol but we all make our own decisionI for whatever reason or what we are going though in life at that time for me was the home Affordability nothing else. Thank you for all the information ℹ️
Ty looking to buy in the area. Just purchased in Twentynine Palms. Ready to pack up now and sell . This place is not for us . Coming from someone born in a city of over 8 million. I can’t take the remoteness and having to drive at least 2 hours to a big box store. Feel like going back to NorCal and even back home on the east coast. Originally wanted riverside, but I couldn’t afford it .
i was born and raised in orange county i bought my place in lucerne valley14 years ago never thinking it would be anything more than a weekend getaway but i knew right away i wanted to live here full time. I've been living here full time for 5 years and i love it! theres no reason to move to the desert and live in a neighborhood full of people and houses close together. lucerne valley has 5 acre lots and even though the prices are going up theres still plenty of great places that are still affordable. i have 10 acres, a shooting range, a well, endless trails to ride my quad, and i can play my drums at three am and nobody's going to complain. i was reading in the comments that theres no work here that's total BS. theres all kinds of work here for people who want to work. plenty of work here in town with victorville apple valley and big bear so close to work or fish. the high desert isn't for everyone but i think if i lived in a neighborhood instead of a small ranch i would be miserable too.
I appreciate you taking the time to leave this comment I agree with you the HD is not for everyone. Your living in your own compound you have a great setup going on. Thanks for letting people know there’s jobs and work for people that look for them and apply for the jobs.
I am considering taking a teaching job in Victorville. I currently live in San Bernardino and was wondering if you know what the commute would be like going from SB to Victorville in the morning and then Victorville to SB in the afernoons?
Hello Michael morale Your going to be coming up the hill the cajon pass so you should be ok just keep in mind everyday will be different especially in the morning drive to Victorville ca. if you would like to see videos on the drive and the traffic on the 15 freeway check out my live videos on my channel. I was born and raised in Hesperia, California (right next to Victorville) and lived there for 27 years, before moving away to another state in 2006. While I'll always miss Hesperia and consider it my home, I didn't like it too much anymore during my final years there. Because the population was growing too much. TOO MANY PEOPLE (and weird people at that)! I had no use for any of my neighbors. The only things I still currently miss are a lot of the stores that I don't have in my area where I now live. And the lakes where I used to go fishing, such as Mojave Narrows in Victorville. OH, how I miss that place. I haven't been able to go fishing even once since leaving California in 2006 because there's no good lakes where I now live. Very depressing. I probably wouldn't even recognize Hesperia or Victorville anymore if I ever returned for a visit. I heard that the Walmart I used to go to (in Victorville) moved over closer to the mall, and that there was even a Walmart (and a new mall) in Hesperia now. That alone is very different. I honestly never realize how miserable I am currently until I get on nostalgia trips of California. But at least there's no earthquakes where I live now. I'll NEVER miss those.
For what it's worth, there is a huge Walmart Supercenter right off the 15 freeway, another Walmart on Main St. in Hesperia, an older Walmart in Apple Valley on Highway 18, and a big Walmart on Palmdale Road and 395. Whatever city you are in , there is a Walmart within 8 miles.
