Tinnitus works in shades of grey. It is often our thinking that is black or white.

  • Tinnitus is never "Always." This is just a stressful thought. Letting go of stressful thoughts helps tinnitus back off. "Will it ever go?" "What happens if it hasn't gone after 6 months?" these are mental thoughts that ignore the fact that tinnitus is a changeable feast dependant on how we feel. When we feel safe, calm and relaxed the alarm bells stop ringing. Anything that helps us get into this state will help this condition get better. So the 6 month thing is being mental and unaware of the fact that we can settle and feel safer and find peace inside our head.Mindfulness of the body helps us come back to reality and leave the stressful and unhelpful head stuff behind! The thoughts are the enemy here. The body is your best ally with tinnitus.

    My tinnitus is almost completely gone thanks to following your advice. I only experience it at very low volumes most of the time now and only in complete silence, even then I can usually zone it out so it doesn't bother me but any sound at all will mask it. If anybody is in any doubt about what Julian advises, don't be, follow what he says and you will get better. Self improvement, a healthy diet, body based work and cranio sacral therapy have helped me exponentially. I had horrendous tinnitus to begin with and five months into following what Julian advises I'm now able to live happily again with minimal volume that I'm certain will eventually go completely.

      I've already done it, I posted it there about a week ago. My CST is an old friend of yours by the way, a gentleman by the name of Andrew Cook, he's really helped me get everything under control. Thanks again for everything you do Julian, I felt incredibly lost before finding your videos, but after following your advice I've managed to reclaim my life and have started looking after myself much better than before I had the tinnitus.

    Thank you! You are a great support. I have mine for 4 months now - suddenly started in one evening after a day when I was completely exhausted both mentally and phisically and had an enormous brain fog. It is quite annoying from time to time, sometimes I doubt my own sanity, but the thought that I am not the only one with such struggle gives me a great relief. Don't need to listen to music before sleep. 😃

    Stressful thoughts - that is where it all starts and most properly where it stops - as far as I´m concerned. We allways can create our haven on earth - and the hell of corse if we try hard enough.
    I like people which are not just letting used air out ;o)
    Stay well

    Going to a tinnitus course tomorrow that my ear surgeon guided me to, I am curious to see if they are anything like you, or if it's the same deal, the sorta. "You're going to have it your entire life!" Situation, that which you've earlier mentioned is very damaging.

    Can't sleep at night with it, and have using alcohol just to get to sleep, but now getting addicted. Seems the only thing that puts Tinnitus into the background - but must find another way. Beater blockers help to calm down, and going to a tinnitus clinic on Fri - I've had it for about 2 months now, and has made me feel so bad, so low. Just want my life back,

    • @njay6584
      @njay6584 6 років тому +1

      R. Sassoon I totally understand the sleep thing. Alcohol is going to backfire on you eventually with rebound insomnia and can even cause T to worsen (does mine anyway) I know it's your crutch (mine were sleep pills in the beginning) but do try your best to wean off it. Try hot baths before bed with 2 cups Epsom salts (bulk buy it on eBay it's cheaper) stay in 20 mins. Drink a rooibos tea (or even chamomile if it suits you as this can relax) with 4 scoops gelatin and 1tbsp of quality coconut oil. This will relax and fuel your body to ensure it stays asleeps better. Reduce screen time with big tv. Use phone/iPad for healing sounds and music to sleep to if you need it but don't stare st the screen light. I've found acoustic neuromodulation videos by T Sounds helpful to fall asleep to. Others like brown noise, or healing binaural beats stuff is good also. Sometimes I just listen to some cool podcasts though in the dark to distract my mind. Takes a long time to establish a new sleep routine and correct the body after it's been relying on other things, but it IS possible just don't give up. There's tons more things you can try. I've had T bad for 6 years (very mild for years before) and honestly the nights are the hardest when T is its worst. Hang in there, there's a lot of hope for you as it's still early days. You may very well be free of it within the year if you live right and stay positive. x

      Thank so much for all this helpful advice, so kind. The drink got out of hand, vodka followed by maybe 3 bottles of wine a night - didn't start out like that but after 3 months of tinnitus that's what it ended up as. In the end tried to go cold turkey, and to cut a long story short ended up in hospital for nearly a week being detoxed. Loud noises and buzzers going off all night making tinnitus worse, but the treatment was very good, round the clock monitoring, blood pressure, and lots of tests. Before tinnitus which started in late November I was an athlete, weights, martial arts, running, no drink and a healthy diet. When the tinnitus got worse I started drinking, anything to take the noise away, which it did for a while, but came back rushing into me again, waking me up in the middle of the night, so more drink to feel normal again. Felt my life was over but not had a drink for 3 weeks now since hospital, on b vits and Thiamine for the brain and citalopram for the anxiety, have some tranquilzers if I get panic attacks which I do sometimes over the smallest things, and still the noise in my head, all day - but booze isn't the answer is it .. was starting to look a wreck and was a recluse. No one understands how it can change your life so much. I went for some tinnitus therapy today and they gave me a sound machine and the whole talk was very helpful ... once more thank you so much for your thoughts and kindness, ...x are you free of tinnitus now ? hopefully mine will get less or even go away but trying to live day by day at the moment.

      Wow that is so great, much respect to you! Very pleased to hear. I was using my crutches for a good couple of years but I've focused on nutrition since, it's much better to be kinder to our bodies. I hope your meds help you, I've used propranolol for anxiety and also found diazepam helps after a bad spike, but only short term (they only give a week's worth anyway!) Mine hasn't gone (doubt it ever will due to the causes but I know it can lower and be easier to live with) in fact I'm going through a really tough patch with it right now. I had both lowered the noises and habituated, but it got a little worse last year, then got even worse after xmas so I feel back at square one. You are right, nobody understands this condition fully unless they have it. I have withdrawn from a lot of life again as I try to cope and stay calm. I know all the right things to do but it's still hard. I love Tsounds stuff like soothing sounds on here for a little relief. I'm doing acupuncture at the moment. After my first session I had a whole day where with just a low fan on it was like it had gone! Amazing. Then I reacted badly to a new anti depressant (I'm super sensitive) and it's not helped T much since but it does relax me and put me in a better mood so it's worthwhile. I'm taking it day by day too, trying to stay positive. I'm not sure what triggered yours but really feel there's a great chance of it fading away if you stay calm and healthy. A lot of people get it temporarily but it goes. It's only ever usually "permanent" after a year (but even then it can still disappear) I really hope it fades over time for you. I know how hard it is. Stay positive. :)
