Quality video again from Des, I have learnt a lot watching him over the years, top angler with tons of knowledge! Would like to see a feature with des fishing for tench 👍🏻 🎣
I can't stress how good this advice is. I was with Des last weekend on a group coaching session and spent some time with him 1:1 working through exactly these tips and setup. Immediately caught more fish, and a practice / pleasure session yesterday only re-inforced them. Stopwatch making a big difference to me in terms of knowing when to reel in and cast out again. Not able to use the 1mm that day but I'll be using them, as shown in this video, in my feeder only match this weekend.

@@Sonubaits No point in going if you are not going to (a) listen and (b) practice and incorporate it into your fishing - otherwise it was just a nice couple of days and evenings out ;) Keep 'em coming.
I have a mix of everybody's feeders...think I'll have a sort out and go with the preston system . This video has proved to me the benefits of the interchange system. Des and Prestons, thank you.
I did this and end up getting a little confused. Decided to stick with one brand and Preston ICS are great.
Brilliant! We don't have match fishing in USA (least nothing like this) but I've used Des' approach with method feeders to devestating effect on our wild carp in USA.
Can anyone else hit the dinner table on every cast like Des? 😩 … Awesome.

Sound advice Des and Sonu, those 1mm pellets sounds a good combo with 2mm's, like the system Des with having separate bait tub for adjusting the main bait to suit 👍

I've learn so so much from Des over the past year or so.
He explains it easily and thoroughly.
Pro thatchers is lethal, I've caught more using mainly the green mixed 50/50 with various other sonubaits groundbaits, than I have since using thatchers

Wish I could drop my Feeder on a 50pence piece Brilliant Info just one question When you have the rod inline with the feeder how do you see a bite if the tip is not going round do you look for it flicking up like in the video Cheers.
The rod tip is lower than the but so the tip rises instead of going round

Hopefully be a bit of everything covered soon enough on Shipp's Tips! What sort of venues would you be wanting Des to cover?
Why does Des have his rod pointing towards the feeder rather than at a slight angle? Does this not stop the effectiveness of your tip reading indications and also give you less time to react if you have what would have been a wrap round (with the bend of the rod giving you extra seconds)?
Helps him to quickly be on contact with the feeder after casting without the risk of moving/dragging the feeder to get the rod onto the rest. Bites are still very obvious as any tension sees the rod tip lift or flick upwards or drop back.

Almost certainly the Centris 420 NT - I was with Des last weekend and he was using that exact same setup

An F1 is a species of fish, a common carp/crucian hybrid that has been created and is now stocked within lots of commercial venues. They are what Des caught during the session
