I've been enjoying autoweek for over 30years! I'm a huge fan and this video report of the new C7 corvette is an excellent reason why! Thanks for the fine effort as well as a huge thank you to GM for such an amazing evolution of the new 7th generation corvette!
My father always said how much he loved the original Corvette Stingray as a kid and teenager, here in the future it's MY turn to experience the greatness of the 2014 Corvette Stingray, rebooting that incredible name with an incredible all-new C7 Corvette!
I mean really guys! This was an awesome and well done review. The views on the car, the releveant questions that was asked, and the Corvette review commentator, was all done from a great history stand point to bringing us to now and with a more youthful flare. This is an epiq example why I follow Autoweek. Thanks again guys.
It looks like a winner to me. A much needed improvement to both the exterior and interior. The red leather trim, the seats, carbon fiber, and the electronic dash all look good. the designers put in the work on this car. Well done!
My family has never owned an american car, and I've never been a fan of american sports cars. I think this car looks absolutely fantastic, and will be a great purchase. Chevy is really pulling it through the roof to a whole new level with this one, off the cosmetics alone!
Wow, I love the new Covette - Awesome Design... -Car Looks Amazing- Fantastic Design... they hit it out the park with this one... I would buy that in a heartbeat.... Great Video Autoweek
I used to own a Corvette and wherever I go, if there's another Corvette, the driver-whoever they are, would wave hi to me. It's like a club, driving a Corvette. If you own one, you know the power of driving one. I miss mine and I like this new futuristic retro style.
Plus, for the first time since I can remember, it doesn’t look cheap and the vents are actually a part of the aerodynamics of the car instead of just fake, cheesy ad-ons. I really like it!
Is it possible? Sure. It's hard to see in the photos but there are several vanes inside the intakes above the rear wheels to channel enough air to the coolers. It would be rare to have one of those intakes fully clog up. And the exhaust vents in the rear fascia are set in a bit, particularly at the edge of the taillights. I think they're somewhat protected. ^DJ
I've never really been a fan of the look of the Corvette, but this one is beautiful! Love it! Bravo! I would like to see this one "track race" and "drag race" the brand new 2013 Dodge Viper.
I owned a '77 Stingray Years ago and have Refused to buy anything since. The styling has completely down hill since the Stingray was replaced in '83. But I do have to say, They FINALLY got it right with the C7. This car looks amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on one again.
Looks fantastic and while I originally agreed with MrTehnoobshofan about the rear lights, seeing how the new lights integrate with the vents has changed my mind. A truly beautiful and sophisticated shape - even the interior looks good. And I am normally a European sportscar fan! Well done Chevrolet - but less of this 'Don't call it a Chevy' crap! 'Drove my Chevy to the levee..'
This is the first Corvette in my lifetime (1979 forwards) that I actually want to buy! Not “I’d buy it if I had a ton of money” “I’d buy it if I had to choose only one american car” or any other circumstance. No, what I mean is, if I had the money to buy, insure and run this car I would buy it, straight away, no questions asked! So, in my honest opinion, well done GM and Chevrolet!
The C7 Corvette will not have a dual-clutch transmission, at least for now. I talked with Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter about that. He says that he hasn’t yet found a dual-clutch transmission that can handle the torque of the 6.2-liter V8 (450 lb-ft) and can fit into the space available in the Corvette’s rear transaxle. But he’s interested in the technology and says he’ll keep watching it - which implies that it’s possible in future versions of the car. ^Dale
Man this thing is beautiful. My dad is retired from Ford and I always try to root for them but GM is kicking their ass in the design department. Will definitely consider this car or wait for the 2015 Camaro.
When I first saw the car I thought, not bad, but the more I look at it the more it commands my attention. Nothing is ever done without criticism but try to design anything that appeals to everyone is impossible and will always have its detractors. Usually something that looks better the longer you look at it usually shows that it will stand the test of time. Every single new generation had its critics but most grew to apreciate after time.
Great video. This thing is badass. I will admit i didnt like ANY of the renders we've seen over the last 13 months...but this really is bad ass. The video is very informative for what it is. Cant wait to see a more detailed look and road test
GM and the Corvette team have not confirmed a future ZR1. They have said they are always exploring more-powerful Corvettes for the future. We expect that there will be a new ZR1 in the future, although it is likely three or more years away. ^Dale
Hey guys quick TIP.. If you don't like the tail lights/rear end and think it's too "camaro-ish" do what I did. A quick google search of the current camaro. AND PRESTO... pretty bland, right? So far this car has addressed most issues I've ever read people complaining about online. I'm confident it will also still be a Corvette at it's core. Congrats, Chevy! Job well done.
Whoa, so much of this info came from C&D's indepth interviews with the Corvette designers/engineers/management. They even describe elements the same way, and utilize near identical phrasing.
Thanks. Im actually curious to see if they will go with a 7-8 speed Auto or a DCT given how good the modern auto is. Not sure if the big auto trans manufacturers like ZF make a transaxle though.
technically im one of those younger buyers they're trying to attract. i like it very much and im thinking about getting one. Success and a job well done guys.
Nice Color....the design of the rear of the car I thought at first I would not like it but after this Video I am starting to like it! I looked at photos comparing the Camaro and the 2014 Corvette rear views and it does not look the same but the Corvette Taillights stand out! I also noticed that the rear is rounded again like my C5!
As a long time fan of the corvette I must say that GM has really done a great job technology wise. And thank God for real seats...finally! The styling is maybe not so timeless and WTF is with that back end...Camaro?? But I'm waiting to see performance figures which Im sure will be staggering. I'm gonna grab a test drive as soon as I can. Very tempting car. She may replace my Cayman R although I think I will wait for the Z06 ;)
It looks bitching in gray or silver color factory paint job!....awesome, aggressive beast!!!...the rear end & tailights have grown on me tremendously!!....I F**CKING LOVE IT!!!!
I think it's a huge change in tradition, but it is after all a 2014 Corvette, maybe it's time. I do like how aggressive the exhaust is though, much more substantial looking.
Nice job Corvette team. I like it and will see it in person this weekend. I have a C6 Z06 and can average 31 to 32 mpg going 55 mph I can get 27 to 28 mpg going 75 mph. In the city its not that good of course. That being said I'm still not seeing the advantages to the direct injection. In fact I see a more complicated motor that will be more difficult to work on and the after market is essentially no existent. My question is what is direct injection going to bring us for the future?
Thank you for that intelligent post. They are both nice designs, but in profile th e vette looks different. The hoodline is higher on the Viper because the V10 is taller.
If this is the base model, I can say with 100% confidence that there will be another version. much like the z06 is to the c6, where the fenders are flared. I like flared fenders.

We can't wait to get our hands on it!
Thanks for reading/watching, Jonathan! ^Hadi

The picture at the end of the video is awesome!
My family has never owned an american car, and I've never been a fan of american sports cars.
I think this car looks absolutely fantastic, and will be a great purchase. Chevy is really pulling it through the roof to a whole new level with this one, off the cosmetics alone!
Hell yeah! I wish people would get that there is still so much more to come!! These next few years are gonna be great!
Wow, I love the new Covette - Awesome Design... -Car Looks Amazing- Fantastic Design... they hit it out the park with this one...

I'm a Viper fan, and now.. I need confess my sin.. this car so freaking AWESOME!
They really outdid themselves with this one. Very modern and wicked looking.
Wow, this is going to be a winner. All this car for around $55k, damn! Excellent looking interior, great looking exterior with functional aero, 460
This car is SOOOOOOOOO Sick! I didn't like the rear at first, but it has grown on me big time. In fact.. I love it.
Plus, for the first time since I can remember, it doesn’t look cheap and the vents are actually a part of the aerodynamics of the car instead of just fake, cheesy ad-ons. I really like it!

It's a beautiful car, one of the best designs Corvette has come up with in years!!!
I've never really been a fan of the look of the Corvette, but this one is beautiful! Love it! Bravo! I would like to see this one "track race" and "drag race" the brand new 2013 Dodge Viper.
I liked the modified red interior. Can't wait to drive one.

I'm stunned by the design.. Sensational car

Can't wait to see the numbers and test drive
This is an amazing step forward for GM got taking such a risk! Applaud! Beautiful, and aggressive look!
BEST video of the c7 yet

this is the best looking corvette i ever seen hands down this car is SICK!!!!

Those c4 vette's are beautiful. '96 Grand Sport Corvette is scary beautiful
That's what i feel seeing it here on this video shows the curves and angular design to it better, so i too love it!!!!!
I drove the new Corvette. I changed my mind, I would definitely buy it.
very nice, looks miles better than the old one, and the old one is a nice looking car. impressed.
Great video. This thing is badass. I will admit i didnt like ANY of the renders we've seen over the last 13 months...but this really is bad ass. The video is very informative for what it is. Cant wait to see a more detailed look and road test
The 2014 Corvette Stingray goes on sale this fall.
Looks awesome. But wont the vents eventually clog up with bugs and debris?
LOL @2:11 "What the hell is that behind me!" - Beautiful car, can't wait to drive one.
GM and the Corvette team have not confirmed a future ZR1. They have said they are always exploring more-powerful Corvettes for the future. We expect that there will be a new ZR1 in the future, although it is likely three or more years away. ^Dale

Now that is a world class sports car! It's able to do everything exceptionally well! Now I just wish I had the money!!
i love my C6 as im sure you do yours but this has certainly grown on me.
i heard that is gonna be the same price tho depends on what options u wanna add on and which models they bring out
He said "current zr1"! Cant wait to see the C7 Zr1!
I'm sure this ray will deliver a new and powerful sting great job G.M.
Two. That's all the Corvette has ever seated. In the purest sense of the word, a sportscar by definition is a two seater.
what the time of sale this generation 2013 or in 2014
Whoa, so much of this info came from C&D's indepth interviews with the Corvette designers/engineers/management.
They even describe elements the same way, and utilize near identical phrasing.
If its going to hit 180-190 top speed, doesn't that mean that the z06 or zr1 will bea hitting 200+? Or are they not doing a z06/zr1 version?
When will this car be available?

Absolutely beautiful! Too many children will keep me from getting one for atleast another 10 years.
Going to miss the tail lights but this thing is so badass
It does have 2 analog gauge clusters, on either side of the center digital screen.
Car looks great in my opinion, definitely exotic and unique.
I honestly love the tail lights.
will they be making a zr1
Hell yeah...stingray is back \m/
is this 2 seater or 4?
This is a pretty sweet looking Hi-Po Camaro!
They got me thinking about one,GREAT JOB GUYS & GIRLS !!!
I think its good that they changed the lights. Corvette is becoming a super car so they got to change the look
As a long time fan of the corvette I must say that GM has really done a great job technology wise. And thank God for real seats...finally! now i SERIOUSLY respect corvette
Let the haters hate this new corvette is awesome.
I agree with you bro. The back rear of the c6 is one one the things I love about the corvette. The designers are changing it too much -.-
It looks bitching in gray or silver color factory paint job!....awesome, aggressive beast!!!...the rear end & tailights have grown on me tremendously!!....I F**CKING LOVE IT!!!!
I used to want to buy the Camaro ZL1, now the Stingray is tops for me. I love that Camaro esque rear end, in fact, it's even better than the Camaro!
I think it's a huge change in tradition, but it is after all a 2014 Corvette, maybe it's time. I do like how aggressive the exhaust is though, much more substantial looking.
I really like this thing! Better looking than the viper, but damn that viper is fast!
How so, because it has two headlights, air intake in the middle and high fenders?
Yeah buddy! Loud & Proud exhaust switch!
Look up pictures of the viper and look at a picture of this side by side. They look similar but they're very distinguishable from each other.
Nice job Corvette team. I like it and will see it in person this weekend.
I have a C6 Z06 and can average 31 to 32 mpg going 55 mph I can get 27 to 28 mpg going 75 mph. In the city its not that good of course. In fact I see a more complicated motor that will be more difficult to work on and the after market is essentially no existent.
My question is what is direct injection going to bring us for the future?
everything is amazing except for the rear
Looks beautiful. My only critique is that they shouldnt have gotten rid of the 4 circular tail lights.
this car is simply beautiful
So this is gonna be a track car. Thats pretty awesome and its a beautiful car
Can't wait to see the spec's
BEAUTIFUL! Oh my gosh! This car!
Does anybody know what the body will be made of?
In which way is the C6 better than the C7?
How much is this car
ALSO an automatic transmission?
Do they eat a lot of food or make a lot of noise?
Can they wash dishes, cut the grass and wash and wax cars?
Can I just lease them for a couple years?
don't you think the rear is too flat?
I like how they putting back th exhaust opening and adding a switch to keep it open toe close them
Thank you for that intelligent post. They are both nice designs, but in profile th e vette looks different. The hoodline is higher on the Viper because the V10 is taller.
I heard it starts at 53K?
@davidwindon95 Chevrolet has not released the base price for the 2014 Corvette Stingray. An official number will likely come this summer. ^Ponti
what i buy c6 or this car i like this gen
Buying one! a masterpiece!!! WOW
I love the interior
@OffRoadRN that hasn't been confirmed yet so we don't kno maybe once is release they will have all the models
i love this car the more i look at it.
If this is the base model, I can say with 100% confidence that there will be another version. much like the z06 is to the c6, where the fenders are flared. I like flared fenders.
i'm not a corvette expert.. but in my opinion the round tail lights were a very special tradition in all corvette models, what happen with this one..?
