Funny how it's the exact opposite mentality of the actual robot builders. Anyone who's worked with stuff like VEX or FIRST robots in high school could fix this if they had access to the tools and materials. To be clear this is a compliment, it takes a lot of skill to making something that's very simple but still does everything you need and want it to do.
I mean, the motor shaft is expensive, he said on the last video. all of the part accumulates into pretty expensive territory, or at least a lot more expensive than the pricetag he got. fortunately, the thing that broke this time is cheap
@Kenneth Howard You understood that wrong. He understands how it works, because it's not rocket science, it's quite simple, using concepts known to people for decades. But the parts can still be very expensive if they are CUSTOM made, which means with specific materials, specific dimensions etc. etc., something an average person couldn't get their hands on without some cad designs and a lot of money.
Hey, William. I hope this comment boosts you up. As of late, my entire life has felt extremely difficult, for a whole multitude of reasons. Anyway, earlier tonight I stumbled across your uploads. Afterwards, I noticed there was enough pep in me to go cook my ass dinner. Thank you, seriously.
ITS A BATTLEBOT "he's pushing it past it's limits" technically true but have you seen battlebots, they are always being pushed past the limits. Minotaur has a spinner that spins at 10,000 rpm and weighs 73 lbs. Red devil took hits from similar forces multiple times, if William Osman can manage to unintentionally break it, he's either really smart or really dumb
Every once in a while William has to remind us that he's not just a UA-camr who powers cars by lemons and drops metal on toilets, but is also a very competent and talented engineer. And cat trainer.
Not us, but the 5 people that complained on reddit despite probably not understanding the difference between voltage and current let alone knowing that an ampere is supposed to be...
2:50 Thanks for confirming my suspension on this. I've seen the show and those bots always looked so simple to me. Which makes sense as they need to be built durable, and a simple, robust, mechanism is good for that. And before anybody says I have no idea what I'm taking about, look up FRC (first robotics competition). We make bots that are mechanically equally or more complex than the battle bots.
I genuinely feel that a science course taught by William would introduce this kind of knowledge to a lot more young people. Hell I’m 27 and I feel like this dude explained the simple parts of red devil better then any of my previous teachers could have.

William clearly knows how to fix it and very clearly cares for it, its better than it being placed in a garage to gather dust or being taken apart as spare parts. On combat robots, 9/10 a failure is due to a tiny, vital thing like that breaking. If you design the bot well, fixing any part is relatively quick and easy. Source: several years experience with small and large combat bots.
@@OddLeah yeah they want this think to be fiable and easy to fix But people on the internet who think they know everything complain about everything they can
to me, that is a testament of a good build though. originally i thought...'they should have replaced a keyed shaft with a splined shaft to prevent that from happening'. then i realized it was probably intentional. destroying a $1 item and losing the battle is better than destroying the next weakest part and still possibly losing the battle.
Sure, a train will fit that statement for example "it looks" simple ... it "seems" boring .... just a bunch of steel, iron and wheels LOL. Im glad to see you bought it and look foward to what ever shenanigans you come up with. The people that question if you would understand the complexity of this machine obviously have mot spent much time watching you. The things you come up with are incredible, yes they almost never work quite right but that is what makes the videos fun to watch. The makers that show there failures (you, Peter, Alan, and all of the others) show the real scientific method. Keep up the good work and ignore the hatters.
I build small versions of these things (100lbs instead of 250lbs). They are so simple that the hardest and most time consuming part for my team is building the chassis. I can crank out the entire electrical system in about 3 hours by myself.

@Kenneth Howard You understood that wrong. He understands how it works, because it's not rocket science, it's quite simple, using concepts known to people for decades. I am a huge fan of battle bots and a long time subscriber to your channel. Im glad to see that the robots have a life after battle bots. I always figured it was more like a race horse that broke a leg, put down and had a few solvaged parts and the rest forgotten forever.
