You mentioned in the Nav section of the video that you can search by GPS coordinates. I can't on my 2023 Compass, only by address or POI. Otherwise great instructional video. Beats trying to understand the owners manual.
Is there a way to see currently playing songs across the Sirius XM channels when browsing all channels or viewing presets? Or is the only way to know by actually going to those stations?
Thank you for the video! Is there a way for the surround camera to automatically pop-up when you are close to other vehicles or backing up? I keep having to press it while I park as it won’t automatically stay open, even when the sensors are beeping.
You're welcome! When you get close the parking sensors will start going off but there's surprisingly no way to have the camera pop up too. That would be a great feature though. Honestly.. send an email to Jeep Canada or USA with that recommendation
The uConnect 5 screen is technically available either with or without factory navigation. You could upgrade it but would need to replace the module and the screen..
@CarsWithSteve I just bought a 23 jeep compass red and I don't have NAV only android auto. You said to get NAV I need a new screen and module? Where do I go that and what do I say?
Power folding sideview mirrors aren't available in Canada but if yours has it you should be able to enable it in the uConnect 5 screen under Settings --> Doors & Locks
Hi Steve, I just bought a 2025 Jeep Compass - can I use my Ipod Touch to to listen to AudioBooks and Itunes Playlists? I don't want a lot more like phone etc.
There isn't universal support, especially for older devices. You can try to hook up through bluetooth or via USB but if those connections don't work there isn't really a way to get it to stream outside of getting an FM transmitter
Do you know how to hide the navigation bar since it is covering too much space on the screen when i want to use google map on Android auto, thank you!!! Also do you know how to change the brightness for speedometer (the digital number display) ?
There's a little arrow just to the right of the search bar of Google Maps when you're connected to CarPlay and Android Auto - you can press that to minimize the search bar. The brightness for the cluster is adjusted using the switches just to the left of the steering wheel by your left knee. Use the one on the right
I just bought a 2021 jeep compass 80th special edition and it said it had Android auto and I don't see it. Is on my android galaxy but not on the screen. Please kindly help?
The 2021 Jeep Compass was still on the last generation uConnect 4 system. You need to be plugged in with a USB cable for Android Auto to work. I don't have a video on that last gen Compass system but there is one with on the Wrangler that has the same setup --> ua-cam.com/video/DMng8o4ugrQ/v-deo.html
This kinda feels scary in a way. If the vehicle is stolen or broken into, then the thief has all your personal info that is programmed. Is the voice recongnition responsive to any voice?
There is the option of entering Valet Mode which is covered briefly in this video but you can find it under the User Profile screen. That lets you lock out the screen so that people can't access previous destinations etc.. Yes voice recognition will work with any voice, but if yours is quiet you may need to speak up for the system to hear you
Can you please tell me the build number? I had to have mine replaced and the dealer gave me the version with no theme options. It has a white marble background and a distracting gray bar along the whole top that I can’t get rid of. I have to take my Jeep back again to get this version but the service advisors are not able to locate the correct build number for my 2022 Compass Trailhawk. Thanks!
No way to customize the display tray unfortunately. That's a feature I think should definitely be added in though.. a drag/drop to customize the display would be great
Is there a USB port to charge your phone via a charging cord in case your phone cannot charge wirelessly? Or do you need a cigarette lighter adaptor to charge with a cord?
@@CarsWithSteve Thank you for responding so quickly! My friend has this car and she is completely clueless Re technology. I’m pretty sure her android ph cannot charge wirelessly, but I’m not completely sure and she has no idea. I checked so many reports on this car and nobody talked about whether there are usb charging ports. One review said the wireless charging device was “optional.” Do you know if this feature is usually standard? She has the 2023 car model. I just want her to be able to charge her phone when the battery is low; and I bought her a cable to do that, for safety reasons. If she does have the wireless charger (how to tell?) if she lays her ph down on it, is there an indicator that it is in fact charging? (I’m not familiar w wireless chargers, so I can’t advise her. 😬) Thanks so much! You’ve already been a great help!
You're welcome! If she puts her phone on the charge pad and it's not charging then it's because 1 of 2 things.. Either the phone doesn't support wireless charging or the case that you're using is too think and the charge can't be sent to the phone.. But either way it's a slower charge and not a fast charge like you'd get with USB. There are different USB cable options depending on the trim level that you end up choosing
Eso es correcto... esto es para el modelo más nuevo de uConnect 5, no para el uConnect 4 de última generación. Si puedo encontrar uno más antiguo, intentaré preparar un video para él también.
My phone has data but Uconnect etc doesn't allow me to use phone on steering wheel to call out whether it's on data or not. You don't need data for your phone.
A short press of the voice command button would launch the uConnect voice assistant.. press and hold the voice command button for a longer time to launch Siri or the Google Assistant if your phone is connect over bluetooth, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
A. short press doesn't connect. I can answer calls. If I double press short I get Google maps. The dash has took away my speedometer reading in the centre console
I’m trying to find absolutely anything for upgrades or basic information for the 2023 compass sport . Apparently no one felt the need to post anything helpful regarding that specific make and model. Find any type of upgrades is a chore. The closest videos or comments regarding my jeep is 2019 and occasionally 2021. It’s ridiculous considering it’s been out for nearly 2 years. If anyone could direct me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
I made my phone the favorite under my profile and my husbands phone as the favorite under his profile and it always defaults to my phone even when he selects his profile. Not user friendly. Usually we don’t realize it’s not connected to the correct phone until we start driving and then you can’t change it because the car is in motion so we have to pull over. Pain in the ass.
Oh that's a weird issue.. I haven't really done much diving into multiple user profiles but after this comment I will the next time I'm in one to see if I can re-create the issue and find a work around
We just traded a 2023 Grand Cherokee L with the NAV5 for a 2023 Cherokee Traihawk with NAV4 to get away from this mess. Uconnect5 is a turkey in my opinion!
Now try and picture a senior citizen with a flip phone trying to navigate through this mess! We bought a new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited with this UConnect5 marvel. We just traded the Grand L back in after only 6 months to get away from this techno nightmare. We traded it for a 2023 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with go good, trusty Uconnect4. Oy I could imagine that would be a bit tricky. But if you're used to uConnect 4 it'll only be a matter of time until you're used to this one as well. A few watches of this video should get you more comfortable with it and if you ever get stumped reach out here or on Facebook/Instagram
The tech has had to evolve to keep up with different features that are added in and I find that the Jeep uConnect 5 system is pretty streamlined. Ok I'll give it a try, thanks for your help Steve! There are too many options in the jeep xD @@CarsWithSteve
You're welcome! The tech in these newer cars is pretty wild, it's the reason why I started shooting these videos
How can I add factory navigation to my 2024 Jeep Compass? Thanks
No way to just add it in.. the whole screen would need to be replaced with one that has the feature from the factory.

Can I upgrade my 2021 compass to this system
I haven't seen an upgrade kit yet.. it's a different module used year over year so a straight swap won't work

Hey Steve ! I have Jeep Compass 2020 . It's possible to do it ? Thank you
The last gen and this newer one have different modules and tech so it's not a doable upgrade right now as far as I know...
With Android Auto active how can you change the APP in the second / Smaller quadrant? I can only get Podcasts while I'd like to dispaly Media or Phone
