I grew up around gangs in Japan
Japan has;
1) Yakuza (ie. Yamaguchi-gumi, Sumiyoshi-kai, Kudo-kai, etc
2) Hangure, non-Yakuza Japanese gangs (ie. Shinjuku Jacks, Kanto Rengo, Maebashi Bratz, etc)
3) foreign gangs (Chinese Triad factions such as "Chinese Dragons", Black Axe Nigerian Mafia)
Bousouzoku are mostly a thing of the past and yanki are just normal kids.

I am japanese, you got it wrong. Japanese yakuza dont try to stand out at all and there is a difference between yakuza and yankee where yankee is known as a wannabe but real yakuza are hard to tell. Bousouzoku are a group of people that usually like to ride bikes and make a lot of noise.

TAPORI..... and all I see is Arshad Warsi XD, if that's tapori than it's quite nice cus this character is quite fun and nice... in India a modern TAPORI can mean anywhere from something that's visually similar to like Lil Wayne to takeshi six9 and everything in between, they typically ride scooters (scooty) sometimes hideously modded to motorcycles like KTM, REs and yamahas (everything that's kind of considered cool, they miserably try to act cool but in a trashy way, may often dye their hair in the weirdest way possible...... and they scream for attention.
a lot of fashion brands and mainstream market/ media are trying so hard to incorporate that calling and marketing it as Indian alternative fashion and often times to the extent calling it the "indie" as some sort of marketing gimmick to sell their stuff.
This has a very negative impact to the whole indie community, from art, music to everything. just like.
If you're seeing anything as indie or alternative/counter culture from India published or marketed by some mainstream media/brand, let me clarify these are not.
Just like every other country, the indie community is actually very sweet and understanding community here just wanting to make and do their stuff, things that they like and are non-violent :)
