She didn’t fight in vain we’re so close to curing AIDS today for because of people like her. I hope her spirit knows she’s saved the lives of millions through her advocacy.
I've just finished reading her book for the second time.'In The Absence of Angels '. I read it about 15 years ago as well. I finished reading it yesterday . Elizabeth mentions Ariel's birthday was on 4th August and then as I finished the book I realised it was 4th August! Happy Heavenly Birthday, Ariel. Ariel and her mother are reunited in Heaven.
She struggled so much in her final years with lack of support & that hurts me to my core!😔😞Rest in Heaven to all who have lost their lives to this disease especially those with no fault of their own.🕊️❤️🙏🏾
R.I.P Elizabeth and Ariel. So much good work to resolve the illness, such a great team. The little girl was so touching and it made me😢 to hear of her losses. So glad that Elizabeth had such loving Friends, and a Husband who you could see was her Soul Mate and Best Friend I wish I had kept the glossy picture I had of Elizabeth and Paul in their early dating times, each in a car and gazing at each orher so fondly from behind the wheel. Sent to me by the Starsky+Hutch fan club of course❤❤
This woman is incredible. I came across this by accident and saw a comment about the book she wrote and it ´s a must read. Well 3 weeks later I´m here finished reading ´In the absence of angels´ and I could´t put it down and I´m not a big reader. This is truly a must read for ALL. If you´re human, it applies...read it!, you´ll be happy you did.
Hydeia Broadbent, the black girl at the end of this video, recently passed away a few days ago at 39! She was so brave in speaking publicly about dealing with AIDS starting from a young age!
Reading her book ‘In the absence of Angels’ I had to put it down a few times as I couldn’t see through my tears 😭. I won’t spoil it for anyone but it’s an insightful, compelling, often heartbreaking book. I felt anger at the ignorance of people but reading about Elizabeth’s perspective and grace, it made me realise these people weren’t evil of bad, just scared and ignorant. Which made the fact that education about the virus came so late and nowhere near enough enraging. As Elizabeth says, people with HIV/AIDS in the 80s and 90s were fighting a battle on two fronts-the hellish disease, and the Ignorance and vitriol of people. Growing up in such times I remember kids at school swapping the game tag for AIDS, the boys would tap each other and call out, I blame the TERRIFYING adverts which furled the fear and bigotry. I feel the Reagan administration not only failed gay people, but everyone else dealing with the virus. God bless beautiful Ariel and her wonderful mum, I am quite sure you are in paradise ❤
It's unbelievable how Paul (father) never contracted the disease. It really makes one wonder this whole disease and how it attaches on to someone and some it don't 😕 🤔. Elizabeth was a very brave strong woman to be such a great advocate for this disease may she and daughter fly high
What this women did is like an unending ripple effect that touched lives because of them, because of Ariel, because of Elizabeth and many others I am 😢 😭 🫂 may all your souls rest in perfect peace, how I wish I could meet Jake,I believe he's one of the first generation of kids who survived HIV
Some are, but I imagine that those in higher medical/political careers were most likely far more concerned with keeping their power and their fame and their work the way it was, and were not concerned with what wasn't.
@@su-rv2uq You can say that about high-powered women in those careers, too, not just men. Women can be just as insensitive and lack compassion. Even some mothers....
eh, well some can't find the compassion, most of the men I know in my life are hateful pos's they wouldn't care. But there ARE wonderful men out there.
Mitch Grooms he did speak occasionally but from reading Elizabeth’s memoir I get the firm impression that his role in the couple was to hold down the home front. He’d take care of Jake and make sure he had as normal a childhood as he could.

2019....watching RIP Elizabeth and Ariel .
The Elizabeth Glaser foundation has helped out many HIV+children here in Uganda.... Her legacy lives on...

I’m pretty sure Hydeia Broadbent is the little girl who cried while signing and I’m glad to say she is still alive in 2023 and thriving!! ❤

I remember her from a movie.
These women are the actual definition of “strong woman”.
Elizabeth Glaser is so inspiring!!!! RIP Elizabeth.
I have read Absence of Angels twice and watched interviews with Paul Glaser. Amazing people.
such a brav e ,remarkable and inspirational lady...God bless and keep you Elizabeth...now at peace with your adored little angel Ariel...xx
Sadly, Elizabeth Glaser died just 9 months after this interview on December 3, 1994.

Also what a great support from your friends ❤❤
Didn't this also hapoen to Arthur Ashe the tennis player?
This had to be very painful unless your in their shoes you cannot understand. God bless these families

Cute
Nice video.
How many people have true friends like Elizabeth Glaser's?
7beers none lol. I don't have any real life friends at all.
If you have one true friend in life ever, you got a hell of a deal. I guess I've never had that for long.
IM HAPPY THAT PAULS SON DOING OK SOO FAR DO YOUR THING JAKE. NOW ITS JUST U AND YOUR DAD. B WELL U 2
That was so sad for Elizabeth Glaser, very unfair.
Ella es y será una extraordinaria luchadora por siempre por los niños con sida en el mundo gracias elizabeth Glaser
😢
🥰
RIP
Sad
So men can't be sensitive and compassionate? This was a good video until she said that.

AND HER HUSBAND NEVER CARED.. DAMN HIM
Mitch Grooms You obviously don't know or understand this family's story, you sir are an idiot!!
i do know the story, he never went out and spoke on this subject. Not once..

Great Trans woman!
She is cisgender.
