Omg I listened to part 1 through here non-stop as I went on with my day. From breakfast to finishing up my work. I’m crying! Your story has put a lot into perspective. I love that it’s more than just the bakery but truly how you got through everything and the actions you took when you finally began to show yourself love. i'm 61 years old single -never experienced unconditional love other than for my mother.
In my 34th year as an ICU ER nurse .
I made the biggest mistake of my life buying a franchise that took my entire ret and has left me $800,000 in debt with a loan .
I close the door, August 6 of this year .
I'm working in Nursing still in California and when you mentioned the part about money, it had a nerve.
I can make $200k a year in healthcare, but I'm not happy.
I have a home in North Carolina .
I find myself dreaming of just waking up at my beautiful kitchen and cooking every day even thought about a TikTok channel, UA-cam channel, etc.
The hardest thing is taking the first step there comes the fear !
Do I walk away from a secure job with benefits at 61 years old do I live the rest of my life up every day doing my real passion?
Gave it to the higher powers and the universe m. I'm listening for the answer .
I cannot express you enough how I relate so much with the challenges you've shared .

Love this! Familiar with everything until about now. I remember your Winklebean and how much you loved him. Wasn't familiar with your Teddy or your new apartment you moved to with nothing. I remember the narcissist, and although you didn't talk about him much, he always gave me the impression he was vain. Does that make sense? Oh, and I remember your garden beds and how hard you worked on those then you hurting your back and were literally unable to move. I wanted to help you out!! I remember thinking you sounded so defeated, talking from your living room, but then thinking it just must be pain. 😢😢😢 Can't wait to hear the rest!!!!

You were one of the first cooking/baking channels that I watched ( the crumb boss era) and I remember after every new rebranding, I remember thinking this girl has the worst luck but she always keep rebuilding. Now that you have told your entire story, your ability to pick up and rebuilt its amazing and shows that despite your challenges and struggle with self worth, your amazing spirit keep you moving forward.
Congratulations, Gretchen! I wish you and the Mr. a long life together blessed with many joys! Once again I am struck by how so many of your bad experiences have led to benefits for you, at least personal development-wise. Oh you’re a tofu hater 🤣 Tofu is a blank canvas. I love it in savory and dessert dishes as well. That said I love your recipes too. ❤

Lol I’m actually a tofu lover!!! I eat it every single day of the week in all sorts of forms! I literally ate almost a whole block with some salt and pepper on it yesterday!
But when it comes to baking it as a main ingredient inside of cake, not a big fan!
However, in small quantities, I do love it. For example, my cheesecake is the best and I add a small amount of tofu to it. I also have ricotta cupcakes, that are so delicious and of course the ricotta is made out of tofu!
I think my first experiences with vegan baking, though, just had so much tofu everywhere that it was kind of a turn off for baking
@@GretchensVeganBakery Haaaa, we’re on the same Tofu Team tho. I never thought of using tofu as a main ingredient in a case then. It sure doesn’t sound good. Do you know what sounds good? Everything you listed right there 👆 When I got your book I missed about the mess it turned out to be. Now, I’m gonna get the ebooks you have on your website when I come back from working in an animal sanctuary in Brazil in couple of months. Seriously, I penciled it in on my calendar (well, without a pencil).

im so grateful for social media and the internet. i know narcissist has become a very popular term now a days but it’s because we have learned the traits of a real narcissist mostly due to social media and psychiatrists who use social media platforms to educate. we are now aware of what to look for to avoid these people at all costs
Yes, that is very true. I’m not one that likes to throw labels around, but this one was straight up for real.
I was married 10 years and had a child with a Doo-Doo head, LOL! Congratulations to you - happy you can love and trust again. 8 years later, at 53, I have not managed to do that.......
Believe me, it was rough after I left. It takes a really long time to get back to “normal “ after something like that. The jumpy, adrenal fatigue from a roller coaster of chaos takes some healing.
In the next one I talk about how my next relationship (the wonderful man I have now) was very difficult for me to accept & I actually sent him packing because I almost couldn’t handle a”good” relationship not to mention so soon. 6 months of healing was clearly not enough. And I sure put poor Frank through it with my instability. But thankfully he didn’t give up on me 🥰

I dont know if you’ll remember me, but you gave me a shout out in one of your videos a long time ago when I was going through a very difficult time health-wise, and it truly made a difference.
I absolutely agree that spirituality will heal the world. Just as your small gesture of love and kindness brightened my small corner of it.
Hearing your story and how you have transmuted pain into meaning is the epitome of an artist, and I’m all here for it.

Love this episode, I was with a narc and I almost cried when you described how you felt! Finally when I was free from that relationship I felt a relief that felt like I was in heaven ❤❤❤

I'm only five minutes in, but I wanted to hop on to tell you how admirable it is that you are so able to make amends/accept the apologies of people like Steph or this new owner. It's amazing that were able to rebuild those relationships!! So many people hang on to anger and resentment for so long, and it only hurts you in the end. VERY impressive! Okay... back to the story!
