    You know you were the first person i started following about 7 years ago, when i tried your swiss meringue buttercream and cake recipes. I would just say, follow your heart and continue to share your kindness, because we folks look forward to it😘😘🤗🤗

    ¡Holla Gretchen! I don't believe that I've ever commented on one of your videos before, but I felt compelled to do so after watching this one. I first came across your smiling face on a Woodland Bakery video and was instantly hooked by your charm, energy, knowledge, and technique. And although I have watched thousands of videos on UA-cam since then, you are still the ONLY baker that I have subscribed to. I could always tell when watching your channel that you were trying to make a living by doing something that you loved, but not simply doing it to get rich. There were no excessive ads or merch plugs. No paid meet and greets, etc. And even though I have not baked anything worth while in years, I continued to watch your videos because you are the honest-to-goodness genuine article. Your smile makes me smile! 😊
    I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for always being Gretchen no matter what food you were presenting to us. You have touched my heart with your inner light and I will forever be grateful. Blessings to you in all your future endeavors, whether on UA-cam or otherwise. 💖

      aweee!! wow, what an awesome message thank you so much for commenting!! I appreciate this so much! I am happy to know that some people saw this in me, and ironically many of those characteristics you listed are the reasons I did not succeed! Also the reason for the Crumb Boss split, I did not want to go that route, however Steph was a visionary and knew that was the only way it was going to work financially!! So we split for difference of creative opinion and I went on to share everything for free LOL
      Had I gotten into the "selling" of it all, I would probably be doing really well (financially) but eh.. it was just not my cuppa tea!

    Hi Gretchen,
    I just wanted to say thank you! I started watching you back when you were woodland bakery and I really learned to bake through you and I found a passion. I started a blog in March of last year and a UA-cam channel in January of this year. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your passion and excitement for baking with me because it truly sparked that in me and I hope to take that and create something amazing. Thank you so much for teaching me how fun and amazing baking is and how fun and amazing it is when you share your passion with the world.

    Gretchen, I hope you take this to heart. I loved your "old" videos and your "old" recipes. They are part of a shared past, but your real past. Anyone that expects to have total access to all the Internet content that has ever been provided forever is delusional as best. Any content anyone wants access to forever must be downloaded, copied, archived etc. In multiple formats and kept on their own bookshelf or devices in their own home. Period. Over the years you have shared so much of yourself, your heart and your soul. I also grew to love your "new" self. Your energy, passion and heart transformed. The heart part I mentioned is my way of saying thank you so much for sharing and caring. Don't spare any more concern for people who would disparage you for evolving. Love is being sent your way. Take care always.

    I think you are a HUGE SUCCESS Gretchen. Your book and vids are fantastic. Please don't let the complainers get you down cuz you are a source of light and deliciousness. Your time and effort to continuously test the perfect vegan ingredients are appreciated here forever. I had no idea the cost to you emotionally and financially to keep your old non vegan recipes available because of the respect you had for your non vegan followers. I hope they will taste test your vegan recipes and see how they give up nothing but cruelty to the animals, the environment, and their health, by easily changing a couple of old habits. I've shared your book, vids, recipes, and vegan replacement ingredients, and people understand that they just don't need to continue with cruelty to have unbelievably delicious frosting and cheescake in their lives. The animals love you- and I'm one!

      I loved all your recipes; regardless whether they are vegan or not, but there's one recipe that I really need from you to please share with me, no one can get it as right as you and that is the pastry cream vanilla custard recipe and I'll love you for life; even though, I'll never stop loving you regardless of being vegan or not. Thank you for all that you do for the community and don't worry about the ones that can't understand your situation. I would of done the same thing, if it was causing me money. There's one cake that you have on your website; chocolate mint cake, that I'm going to try. Love mint and chocolate. 😋🥰

    I have been watching you from Crumb Boss days. I was in vocational High school for culinary arts when I came across you. You made baking fun and exciting. I went on to pastry school and continued to watch you. I worked for a hotel catering weddings and now I work for a bakery and I still love it. I’m definitely not the same person I was 10 years ago when I came across you and I don’t expect you to be either. Life is a journey and most people don’t have just one career. Life is so precious and you have to do what makes you happy. I am not a vegan but I am still happy for you because you are happy. You were and still are successful and in another 10 years who know where you will be or even where I will be. But it doesn’t matter as long as you are happy. I still have some of your original recipes scribbled down is a notebook somewhere. I’m sure one day I will stumble across them and reminisce about that crazy Lady on UA-cam that called herself the Crumb Boss. Take care Gretchen, this isn’t goodbye. It’s just see you later.

    Hey gretchen,
    I've been following you since the crumb boss days, but almost never commented on the videos. But now, I feel like I need to. Because I owe you a BIG BIG BIG thank you.
    You have given me not only the best recipes, but also the knowledge that goes with the recipes.
    Sure, I was a little disapointed when your blog went vegan. But also interested. Would the recipes really be as good as the non-vegan? So when you announced your book, I pre-ordered right away. They are your recipes, so the must be good. And damn.. They are.
    So I have your cookbook, a bunch of your non-vegan recipes( thank god I saved them) and I will make the time to save all your vegan recipes.
    I hope we will see a video once in a while, with an update, or recipe haha. So I will stay on the channel just in case.
    But for now, I want to thank you for everything. And I wish you all the best!! Happy vegan baking gretchen 😊

    I am vegan and Gretchen's recipes are the best ones I've found. I may not have been here since day one, but I was a former baking student and when I went vegan, I got lost. It was refreshing were I returned to baking after years of not being able to make anything super delicious, to find her recipes. This woman is a true gem.

    Thank you so much for all your years of teaching me how to be a great baker. I have learned so much from you and I'm so grateful that I found you on youtube. I've been watching since you were at the woodland bakery. When you turned your channel into a vegan baking channel I knew there might be a day that the gretchensbakery website would end so I printed some of my favorite recipes, so I'm not mad. There are a lot of bloggers out there and I get the reality that they aren't going to keep all their content up forever either. When I saw that the website couldn't be accessed I assumed it was because of money because in a past video you mentioned that it did cost a lot. I'm not vegan but I do appreciate what you stand for and I love being able to use your vegan recipes as well. Twice in my life I had to be dairy free. 2 of my babies couldn't handle nursing with dairy in my system. I really appreciated having vegan recipes for those times in my life. I wish you well, I Love you and I hope that you continue to be successful in your life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Gretchen, I just have to THANK YOU for the many years of blood , sweat, and tears you went through to bring us the BEST recipe's ever !! Yessssssss, I've been a follower since the Woodland/Crumb Boss days (I still have a CB T-shirt... :) You're self-lessness has been evident since day one, and even though I 'thought' I knew quite a bit about baking, etc.... YOU opened my world to some amazing baked goods, and a whole new world of baking. I wish YOU nothing but the best life has to offer.....you deserve it !!!

    My daughter and I found you about a year or two ago (time goes so fast nowadays), and we both adore you and your openness about your vegan journey (for us it has been a little over 3 years). We appreciate all that you do/have done for us, and it is very understandable to need transitions/breaks to rest and recalibrate. I will stay subscribed as long as you keep this channel open, and I hope that like you said, if you get a whim to post something, you will. It will be a happy surprise in our feeds if you do. I wish you love, peace, and happiness in your life, and in the words of Marie Kondo, I hope you will continue to do all that "sparks joy" in your life, and let that which doesn't quietly fade away. ♡

    Everyone complaining about the non-vegan recipes being deleted are ridiculously entitled.
    Take no notice of them, people have taken advantage of your generosity and are simply mad at the fact that they cannot do so anymore.
    Gretchen you have been a huge inspiration to me (and I’m sure everyone else too!) I will miss your sweet bubbly personality and your thorough explanations in your baking processes. You’ve been supremely generous with your knowledge and been patient as hell.
    Hope you take the time you need to care for yourself, and thank you so much for ALLL you’ve done!!

    I'm always amazed at how generous you and other bakers/chefs have been by offering their recipes for free online. How people have the audacity to criticize, complain and insult you is beyond my comprehension!!!
    I for one am VERY GRATEFUL that you still have ur Vegan recipes up and look forward to trying a few. I also belong to several vegan cooking, baking and decorating groups, which is where someond mentioned you as one of the best vegan bakers. I love how you also plugged other chefs and I found it interesting how you explain that not everyone with a blog or vlog is necessarily a millionnaire.

    I had bought your bakery books volume 1, 2, and 3 years ago and thought I had them saved and was so disappointed now that I can't find them. I have followed you since 2014 and love your recipes. You have had such a great impact on the type of Baker I want to continue to be. Thank you for all you have contributed to the baking world.     I can't (wait, no, I guess I can) believe someone would think they're so entitled to your hard work and a peice of you. I'd hate to be the person that gets her drink wrong at Starbuck's. You've done great things for the vegan baking community, and have always been so accessible.     Gretchen, I've been watching you since Woodland and I have to say, you've always been an inspiration, vegan or not. You've shared your journey and talent and wonderful recipes. Why should anyone be upset about that? Learning baking(professional or otherwise) is about learning the basics so you can take that knowledge and create your own for friends and family or to turn what you love into a business. You inspired me to go to culinary school to learn more! For those that are upset to not have your recipes....we did have 8 + years to MAKE A COPY...which I did....I personally would love to see more vegan entree recipes(even though I'm not vegan).

I gotta say every time I went to make one of your recipes I would play "spot the commenter asking for the nonvegan recipe" and I got a dang BINGO every time - it must have been so frustrating!     As a fellow vegan and Jersey girl, I find you to be an inspiration. Your recipes and videos are your intellectual property to do with what you will. I also used to run a (very small) vegan blog but shut it down after finding my recipes across the internet without linking or giving me credit. I still get nice people messaging me now and again asking me for recipes, but I also get nasty ones on occasion who are mad that a Pinterest link they came across is now a dead end. Sorry you even had to expend any time and energy dealing with this, but thank you so much for all you have contributed to the world.
    PS - just got near the end, and you do NOT look a wreck even a little bit! You look gorgeous!!

    I have been one of your "day ones" since the beginning; I have followed you thru some of your journeys (i.e., crumb boss, woodland bakery, gretchen's bakery, etc.). I have just heard the reason you had to shut down the non-vegan blog, and I totally get the fact that it became too much for the reasons you described; at the end of the day, you needed to do what was best for self. I have enjoyed your recipes for a long time; although I am not vegan, i respect your choice to live a better lifestyle. I am one of the lucky ones that have copies of so many of your recipes still with me because I valued them so much. I have your ebooks (i.e., volume 1 & 2, quick breads, etc.). I am so lucky to have you in my life, as you have afforded (and taught) me so much over the years about baking, so that I could be the best baker I can be. I really appreciated the fact that you took your time over the years to teach and share your knowledge with us; you did this unconditionally and with genuine love for the art of baking. For this, I could never forget or repay you for the time you put in for us. In any event, although I am not vegan, I do plan to try some of the new recipes; who knows-I might like it. Take care Gretchen-remember that you have a life-long fan in me, no matter what direction you take; the kindness, joy and commitment to the craft you have given to your fans far outweigh any negativity.     You are amazing. I really appreciate all of the work you did. When I was trying to open a vegan bakery here in Warsaw, Poland, your carrot cake was a major hit! I appreciate the time, energy and money that you invested to help those of us non-professionals have spectacular results! I have learned a lot from you. Thank you!
    Lately, I've started cutting sugar out of my diet for health reasons, but that doesn't change a thing in regard to my admiration, support and appreciation- I will always stay subscribed and I will continue to promote your recipes to people who ask me about how to make vegan goodies.

    I been your follower since you had your bakery, bought your recipe books, hand wrote every recipe you shared, I once had the opportunity to have you answer my email, you were my "therapist" when my husband past away baking and learning from you helped me TONS!!     I love your recipes. Don’t mind the naysayers. Tell you what? You did me a huge favor when I needed a recipe for my baby’s 1st birthday. I was at a point of feeling down because none of what I tried worked then I bumped into your vanilla cake recipe! BEST ONE EVER AND SO EASY TO MAKE. I was super proud and above all extremely happy that I didn’t have to resort to buying my baby her first bday cake and that I could tell her mum made it. So thank you! It means a lot to me. I am looking forward to making your velvet cake for my husband’s bday this March.

    I have just found you a month or two ago. You’re incredible. I’ve been a devout vegetarian since 1992, and a vegan for most of it. You’re an inspiration. I will continue to bake vegan with all my heart. You are such a light! When I became a veg, I did it because of personal spiritual reasons. I’ve always been honest about why, but, like you, Liberty is in PERSONAL CHOICE. You have such respect for everyone, you treat people with love and respect, you’re extremely logical and I note you’re like me on my approach to food and sharing my recipes: wouldn’t it be great if by the virtue of the wonderful food, non-vegans wouldn’t even miss the egg or milk products, or meat... and without shoving veganism down anyone’s throats, you have given everyone a LOVELY and DELICIOUS alternative. Thank you for being such a light! YES I’m on a vegan keto diet STILL! And I can’t wait to bake some Gretchen Recipes with my kid when it’s time-but please note-you are such an amazing artist, and your work has affected even little me, and my kid, and friends, and maybe just maybe you’ll see print vegan cookbooks soon, so you’ll make some good money. I’m buying everything you print, BTW. God bless you and THANK YOU! BTW, I have a small farm and my chickens are rescue chickens who work very hard to clean up the ticks and bugs in the garden.     Thank you so much, Gretchen, for all of the years of recipes and videos. I started following you when you were Crumb Boss. Watching your videos gave me the confidence to start baking from scratch. I have a number of recipes of yours that are mainstays in my baking, and I am very thankful that you provided them to us for free. I have recommended anybody I met voicing an interest in learning to bake to your blog, and when you started posting vegan recipes, I started recommending my vegan friends to try them. I'm sad that the non-vegan blog had to be shut down, but I understand why you had to do it. Again, thank you for helping me become the baker I am today. Please don't let the naysayers get to you.

    Gretchen I just wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge and I won't forget it. Even though your non vegan recipes are gone, you are still gonna be one of the greatest people I look up to. You are the reason why I got my as in baking and pastry. I loved how easy you made everything for people. When people interview me asking which pastry chef do I look up to.     I usually don't comment on videos, but after watching your video I feel like I need to tell you something. YOU are going to be dearly missed!!! not your awesome recipes vegan or nonvegan, YOU and your personality are what made it a pleasure to watch your videos.
    I have been following your journey ever since I first heard you and Jason bicker around in the woodland bakery kitchen, it's been about 7 years or so I guess. I completely understand why you shutt down the nonvegan blog, it's just sad some people feel so entitled that they consider your mental property their own and you receive such bad comments for shutting down the blog. Your live, your decision.
    I wish you all the best for your future and hope you find your happy place.
    Maybe we get to see you again someday, but until then happy baking,

    It's REALLY sad to see that there is people like that. Hard to ignore and they steal energy.
    I found this video when me and my wife talked cherished memories. One of the memories were that we used to binge the early stuff you put out. We loved "the show" and we made lots of the recipes.
    And of course we are dissappointed that all those recipes are gone. But you know what? We are MORE EXCITED for all the new recipes! As my wife is allergic to eggs and milk, and we also want to take a step in the right direction (away from the meat and dairy industry), this is such a great new path to travel!
    We are really looking forward to once again binge your videos with all the great recipes and that wonderful smile.

    I finished the video feeling sad. I started watching when it was woodland bakery and totally loved your videos and your charisma. I went vegan and still watched your videos because I think you are an amazing teacher. Then you started making vegan videos and it felt amazing! To be able to watch an educated pastry chef doing amazing things while be able to LEARN because of how an amazing teacher you are. I personally don't want you to disappear from the www :( love and admiration from Mexico.

    I ran across your italian cookie recipe video a few years ago, and man, that recipe is fantastic and a treasure I have saved. Thank you for all you did and shared with us. Your vegan cakes look great, and I will try them. I took a class years ago with Fran Costigan on vegan Twinkies and have successfully replicated the recipe at home - which was also yummy - so I do not fear the crossover as some do. Listen girl, you look fantastic, your joie de vivre is wonderful - you do you - and forget the haters. Thanks for everything and best of luck in your new career.

    Gretchen... I have watched you for years and your recipes (non-vegan or not) are awesome. The first recipe from you that I have made was the "Tower of death" ❤️ That was a start - at least for me - to a new world.
    Ever since I have been baking, decorating trying new things... you are the reason why I'm in love with baking (I am pretty sure my family and my co-workers could not thank you enough for that because they have to eat the stuff I make *lol*) .
    So thank you for that. I hope, you can share some recipes here and there. I am not expecting to see you twice a week with new videos. But I would love to hear if you are ok and how you are doing from time to time.
    I'm sending you lots of love from germany - where most of the normal life is shut down through this virus... I guess it is time for some baking now to keep me calm.

    After losing my son (pictured) 8 years ago I started baking to put my mind in a different place. You taught me how to bake and I appreciate all that you do. Everyone wants me to open a bakery and of course as you know it's not that easy. I also know people including my sister in law who are vegan and it's nice to be able to include them when I bake. Thank you for taking the time to teach us!! Don't worry about the knuckleheads who don't appreciate a good thing. They just have nothing better to do. 😉

    I adore your recipes they remind me of European style tortes I used to enjoy when i was little. I appreciate that you did all you did and wish I would've saved more of your recipes. I'm thankful I saved the ones I did! I will definitely be trying the vegan recipes!

    I actually just found your website today while searching for vegan recipes. I am thinking of becoming vegan, or at least incorporating more plant-based food into my diet and I'm definitely going no dairy. My biggest hurdle is finding recipes that will take the place of my favorite dishes. I found your recipes delightful and am so happy I found it! I clicked a few links that didn't open, but I moved on and clicked others. Although I've not tried a single recipe yet, I am so appreciative of your time, effort and generosity for giving so much of yourself for the benefit of others! Now seeing this, I appreciate you even more. Please don't let miserable people make you miserable too. I don't know you and just heard about you a few hours ago, but I think what you've done and are doing is wonderful. It's definitely gotten me excited about (possibly) becoming vegan! I can't wait to get your cookbook! Anyway, I just wanted to say keep going, doing, and being. You are so appreciated!

    Hi Gretchen, I am one of the mad people but, I am not mad at you. I am great-full to you Because you taught me how to make cakes that looks like a pro and tasted great. I am actually mad at my self that I did not print all your recipes, I printed some but, I wish I printed all used them or not. So, now my question is, did you ever write a book about Gretchen bakery that has all you recipes laying around some where in your house or garage because I would love to have one. You are the BEST!!

    I am one of your "day ones" but I don't feel abandoned at all. Do I miss your old videos? Sure. Does it matter: not in the slightest. AND I'M A VEGAN lmao. There are thousands of baking videos on youtube. I love this channel and if you decide to full stop then...oh well. You deserve to be happy and if this is making you unhappy or just too much upkeep then that's your choice. I still remember the time I gave you the tip to use graham cracker crumbs in your peanut butter cups, and you actually used it. That made me so happy. That suddenly doesn't make me unhappy because the channel went in a different direction.
    The sense of entitlement from people is unreal. You know, if they feel so strongly about this they should have held onto their receipt and asked for a full refund.....oh wait....that's right....none of us paid a dime to watch and learn from your content all these years! You certainly have had a lot of expenses over the years. Your viewers haven't. So they're basically complaining they can't get access to your years of experience for free anymore. p.s. if these recipes were SO IMPORTANT to their lives, could they not have created a hard copy? written it down somewhere? lol
    Going forward, don't give these whiners anymore attention. Remember Gretchen: you own everything you create. If you want to delete everything tomorrow and never pick up a piping bag again, that's your choice. Your real supporters respect you as a PERSON and your choices. Anyone who attacks you because you are no longer giving them access to your expertise, is being a giant pissbaby and needs to grow the hell up.

    Gonna miss you. I've loved all your videos even the early ones with the crazy photographer, was sad when you removed your original videos but figured it had to do with your new life style. Hope you keep this channel running. Slap some ads in them. The 6 and 15 second ones are the best. Done before you can get annoyed. LOL. Wish you would have found some good sponsors. Turn the camera on once in a while when cooking dinner or making a snack. Not fancy, no editing. Good luck.

    People need to stop taking things for granted that everything will be around forever, print, type or wright down recipes for back up.
