- The floating dock is 3 years old. I wanted to give everyone an update as to how it has held up. It was an awesome addition to our pond and we get a lot of use out of it. Building it with plastic barrels (55 gallon drums) is the way to go! A number of build videos around the dock can be found below.

Hah. Im experiencing that Adam friendship right now. Great info
“Ask not what Hometown Acres can do for you, but what you can do for Hometown Acres” words to live by lol
Haha, re-wiring his whole house?
I'm still keeping a few "Twisted's" cold over here. Does that count for anything?
This is next on my to do list. I’ve got to get a dock built. I’ll be referencing your build for sure. Smaller scale though. I love the way yours turned out.
Thank you! I have been really pleased with how it has held up. When it comes to the railing, check menards. Was much cheaper than Lowes/hd.
The beach was a great addition for sure. However, diving off the dock looks to be a good time. And, you have the bragging rights that your pond held water on the first dig (LOL). Cheers!
Haha hmmmm...who could you be referencing?!? 😎🤔 Hopefully we can get out there next summer and get one built.
You need a 3hp outboard engine or an electric motor if no gas on pond to move that thing around. I picked up a used trolling motor at a garage sale for $100 That would move that dock
I do have a small trolling motor for my John boat but have never put it on the dock. Maybe I should!
I would love to see you and Adam from hometown acres build a floating dock!
We are hopefully going to try to visit next summer, so if we do, I'm sure it will happen!
I’d love to see you find an electric boat motor to power the dock out to drop the fish habitat next spring! Rather than ropes from the shore to pull it around.
I've got a trolling motor for my John boat, but rigging it up and it being able to get that the dock where I want it may be a challenge. A case of beer and my neighbors will position the dock while I drop habitat! Ha
@@IndyFarmLife bet it moves it nicely once it gets moving. Lol
The boat motor or my liquored up friends?!? 🤣
How are your fish? Would love to see how big those hybrids are now
Haven't seen any floating, so that's good ha. My boy and I will certainly be out there fishing this spring and I'll provide an update. Been scheming on how to bring in more water. It's low right now. (Still 17ft deep) May have to drill a well.
Do you think in would hold a small cabin say 10 by 14?
Did you add water to your barrels
No I didn't. Our dock weighs enough that it keeps them decently submerged.
Why don't u just show how 2. Don't need to know all the other
Go back in my page. I made a video about the build several years ago.
