    I'm going through this right now. I had COVID in January and about a week after I started feeling better I completely lost my voice and now it's coming back but it's very gravelly. I make my living singing and I'm very very frustrated

    It has been 2 years since I had COVID and I still have Mucus/snot dripping down the back of my throat. Not as badly as before, but still enough to not be able to sing because of the mucus in the back. (And sounding nasal) I wanted to record my own music this year and it is still so frustrating that even rinsing the noise only helps for a few hours or less.
    I am at the end of my wits, doctor tells me there was nothing wrong but they will make a scan soon.
    So I should not cough so much? and rinse every few hours to sing properly? If anyone has tips or please share your experience.

      Chronic coughing can have a negative effect on your vocal folds so try to lessen the cough if possible. That can be tricky but any little bit helps. Continue working with your doctor on finding solutions for post-nasal drip. Nose rinses may be helpful, especially before you want to sing. You are absolutely right that the effect is short-lived. Sometimes, menthol lozenges can help but they also have dehydrating effect so stay well hydrated.

      I am very sorry to hear that you had to deal with all of those troubles and still dealing with voice problems. If you have not done so, I suggest that you have your voice properly evaluated by a laryngologist. The combination of intubation, Covid and not using your voice for a long time could have affected your vocal folds in many different ways. It is important to know what your vocal folds look like and how they function now.

    I lost my voice after covid. But after 2 years, I am recovering. I just left my voice rest, stopped singing and ate a very healhty diet. I also skipped any kind of prescription drug or processed foods. Covid left me sequels that affected my whole body. Your voice is just a reflection of your whole body's health. Heal the body and your voice will respond.

    I have struggled with vocal issues and I suspect Covid and subsequent viruses caused some paresis. although the ENT suspected silent reflux but the meds (which I was reluctant to take) have not helped. The speech therapist I saw thought there was more going on like spasmodic Dysphonia but the doctor didn’t agree so I’m pretty much back at square one but am about to become more consistent with my anti-inflammatory diet and find exercises I can do without a coach (since the cost for vocal therapy was astronomical).

      @@Asmrsoul-dm8xc and counting, I've tried everything, home remedies and medical, videos rely on belief and faith and that's great, but I bring the hard numbers and facts that as of today I've been without my singing voice from November 2021 till current.
      With no sign of return.
      It's like people telling you to believe in a afterlife and that your loved one is floating out there somewhere, I don't want to make anyone lose faith, but it hurt me more to avoid the reality that Covid does permanent damage, flat out permanent damage, and all the specialists seem to need you more than they are useful to you because they are still learning about all this.

    What’s your recommendation?? Go again to the doctor or what?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому +1

      Yes, go again to the doctor. But this time, go to a laryngologist who works in a specialized voice centre. A regular ENT will not have much experience with vocal pain. A specialist will know more. In my opinion, you should get some voice therapy. Ask the doctor what is the reason for laryngitis and how to treat it. Obviously, medication is not the right solution here.

    I'm 71, unjabbed, and I got mildly ill about 8 months ago for the first time in something like nearly 20 years. And I lost my voice, and it has not yet recovered. And that is something I do not understand. And then I got sick again, with some type of virus, that may have been RSV. I don't know, but I was not very sick. But I do want my voice back, and it is really compromised. I've never in my life lost my voice for more than, hmm. 2 weeks?

      I am sorry to hear about your voice troubles. I can only imagine how you feel, especially if this is the first time. If your voice issues persist, I suggest that you have your voice checked by a laryngologist, who can do a videostroboscopy to assess their structure and function. They will also suggest the solutions.
