When my friend visited from UK she was going through a tough divorce that caused her depression and weight gain. Jess you are so beautiful...outside and inside. I'm glad you came here and got healed. Jamaica isn't heaven, but it is the closest you'll ever get on earth! You are welcome to make this island your home. Remember though, that there are silly people everywhere who are toxic inside and try to find fault and make others unhappy. Thankfully, there aren't many here because we are brutally honest in our speech and will assess them fairly and move on with our enjoyment of life. You're right..we are typically very accepting of people and we allow everyone to come as they are. There are young women and men on the island though, who believe that if they have lighter complexions, they'll get thru the world easier, so they turn to bleaching or other skin lightening techniques. Some say the media caused it, others say it's a lack of self love/self acceptance. This will be a cool but challenging topic for you to explore.
My brother what that all about in a few years the island will be sweeping with skin, liver and kidney cancer from the chemical that the white man cook up to give these people. I want you to look up the after effect of hair chemical on particularly black women. The problem is there were studies highlighting all they issues but what do they care. If black women were bleeding to death each month, stillbirths, ovarian cancers, obsess. I lost my Uterus at 21 my two sisters same age, I was luck I had one kid they had none. Scientist is warning black people about the bleaching cream. In Canada is years in jail if you are caught selling beaching cream to the public due to danger steroids and cancer causing chemicals. I am a medical researcher I know what I am saying.
Most Jamaicans have enough intelligence and self-respect to be proud of their complexion, Those who think that they will succeed by bleaching are delusional and are among a small minority. Bleachers are in fact generally ridiculed and pitied by their fellow Jamaicans. This is mainly because it is associated with backward aspects of the inner-city/ghetto. So "scorned" is the practice that some employers are wary of employing bleachers because of their places of origin or abode. Despite this, outreach programmes have been undertaken by the relevant social agencies to advise of the possible health and other dangers posed by skin bleaching
That's really an urban subset . There are many Jamaicans way more who don't bleach. If you bleach some more if you are not qualified for a government career job or corporate career by having degrees and experience you won't get that nice career.
@@misterlexx2721 Exactly! Also the old backward colonial practice of employing persons with a (naturally) lighter/whiter complexion over a person of a darker skin tone, whether they are qualified or not, is more or less in the distant past.

Hey Jess. Glad you're feeling healed being in Jamaica. Jamaicans generally love all people no matter size or shape. You will find though, there's also another side to Jamaicans in terms of calling out people for how they look. Generally, if you're thin they will call you that; if you are not on the thin side, they will call you that also, but usually there is no animosity when they do that. It's calling it as they see it generally being brutally honest, but it's never meant in a nasty way. It's definitely a part of the culture which you may have already experienced. Stay blessed.
Yes like Big Head in her other video. Don’t be shocked when you hear someone with an animal name either. In addition if you look East Asian you are Mr & Ms Chin.

You are a very pretty, kind and down to earth young lady. Much success with your vlogs‼️ Be safe ONE LOVE 🙏 💚💛❤️
Hey bless up juss I am so happy that you have accepted Jamaica as your home
Jess, the fact that you can talk about it shows healing. I hope you keep finding peace while you're on the island and when you leave. Live in your purpose. ❤ 🇯🇲

Jess I am happy that you have fell in love with my country Jamaica and that you appreciate how it has healed you. We love you too .Jamaica may not be economically wealthy, but we are rich in spiritual and mental healing because of our unique people's beliefs, ways, and culture.. However, Jamaica is fast becoming like the US and Europe, but I sincerely hope that my people in Jamaica maintain our culture that keeps us unique as a people .
One love Jess.
