Just bought a 95 ZXI 900 and was told that it was running but lost spark. Thanks to your video I know how to do some testing and where to check. Wish I had your knowledge of electrical workings.
Three weeks every day and hundreds of hours and thanks to one person... Only this guy should be allowed to post on UA-cam because he figured out what many many people couldn't. Thank you so much ..I can't express or say enough. If only you could tell me how to go over 100 mph using a test light. That's about all I can afford. Thanks to you I can finish
I'm really glad you like the videos. This one had me stumped, but never underestimate the power of power sports to put a smile on your face and make you walk the extra mile for fun in the sun. Never give up never give in it's just a machine.
Great video! I’m still having a no spark issue…everything else works.. can’t find that wire where you used with the light that magically started for you in the end
Dang dude, nice catch, I would have gone broke trying to buy my way out of that and it still wouldn’t have worked for me... unless I re-wired the whole thing. Thank you for the video and information
Thanks again and this is the best birthday present since 1986 when I bought a brand new x/2 jet ski and built every motor for it and one video is making my day thanks again for this video.
I was having an intermittent no fire issue on a 96 900zxi, turned out to be the red kill button sticking. Couple of taps on the housing starts right up. I thought about taking it apart and cleaning the connections but it's a pretty good anti- Theft device.
Hello sir. When you say part of the stator energizes the ignition, do you mean you could get no power (dead electronics) with bad stator? My stator has a fried ground and my jetski does nothing. I know the stator is a problem but I’m curious if it could be the problem I’m looking for. Replaced ebox already before finding the fried ground. Thanks for your help. 1995 750 zxi
Hey I’m trying to fix one of these in an 01 stx di and I’m stumped.. I have good spark on the middle cylinder and inconsistent spark on the other two.. most of the time it’s not there I took apart the connector that goes to coil wires and unplugged the middle cylinder.. then of course had nothing on the middle cylinder but the other two had good spark. Maybe you or someone that watches this video has seen this problem I’m wondering if it could be related to the computer.. Spark plugs wires crank position sensor and coil’s all tested good
it looks like a rounded triangular box with a cable coming into it and a couple of electrical connections coming out fallow those wires all the way up to the bulkhead underneath where the seat attaches and there's two connectors there's one connector that has a red wire one has an orange wire look for the orange wire back probe that and test to see whether the light comes on when you crank the ski
@@albuquerquelive9211 OK mine was the stator. I cleaned the stator of rust and that was the issue. I first cleaned all the grounds and connectors but that didnt work. I found it impossible to see let alone touch the trim motor on my 3 seater.
I have the same drive train in a mini jet and I’m getting unequal spark across the coils. One coil sparks great, the others are mediocre. When you switch the coil harnesses at the cdi the problem follows that plug. I used your video to test my stator and it tests fine. Any ideas?
CDI means capacitance discharge ignition. That means capacitors actually fire each coil. If one has a good spark and the bad one follows the connector, I would suspect one of more of the capacitors is bad in the CDI.
I have this exact same ski. Ran good for about 20 minutes on the water. Now no spark I opened up that box and it was wet in there I'm guessing that's my issue. Any info you guys have I could use. New ski owner. I don't even know if I'm supposed to use 50:1?
@@ASTRONOCPRODUCTIONS I have read once or twice that if the ski is not starting it’s not the stater. A bad stater will just case the Machine to preformed bad. I don’t know how true this is, I am not a mechanic. I replaced the stater and was having the same problems, the only difference was that now I have readings on all the wires with a multi-meter. After this we replaced the CDI box and it cranked right up.
@@chrisramey2781 ended up being the solenoid for me, but it didn't start due to forgetting that the black wire is the ground for the start switch that goes to the negative on the battery....once I got that figured out, cranked right up.
Hi I have a 96 1100 zxi and I cant get it to spark , it sparked before and started but next day no spark what wire exactly do I send power to to make it start maybe I can add an extra power switch ? Please help I want to get on the water I'm in Florida
I've had that happen a couple of times and it was different each time. First time it was the fuel pump was sucking air on the inlet side, the diaphragm was also sucking in air. The other time the Plugs were oil fouled. Changed them out and came back to life
They are threaded normally I Sometimes have to use a pair of channel locks to get off if you do get off try putting a little oil on the threads in the o ring before you put it back on

Can you share where you found this wire problem I'm having this same issue. where is this bulk head connection?

Once again you're welcome I enjoyed making this video for everyone.
The solution was jumping the red wire in and orange wire out in the trim module right?

My 1998 zxi 11000 same issue random no spark damn switch, unscrew the cap reset the plunger for the stop switch now fired right up!!!!
would this cause my start button to not work 1998 zxi 1100

So what did it end up being?

Wiring Diagram is the same for my 1997 900 stx. Is the bulk head in the same place? And where is that? Thanks
I may very well have this same problem. Where is that trim motor? I heard there can be a problem with the connectors.
The trim box itself is down in the forward right hand side of the engine compartment

What is the black wire. Everything else matches up for me but the Blake wire. I have a 97.
did you find out? having the same prob

Did you get her going? I’m having same issue
Mine starts runs fine but won't rev like a limp mode any ideas

Is the fuse cover reverse threaded? Mine won’t budge
It is normally threaded. It gets really stuck on there. Id recommend putting a towel over it and giving it all your strength
as. I can get the diagrams of the jet skis
What did you do to fix it? Did you have to rebuild the trim module? Can you jump the red and orange together and leave it that way ?
Didn't rebuild the trim yet but yes you can jump power to the orange wire
It’s the kill switch, take it apart and make sure the plunger is all the way out when not being pressed in by the red button
Fixing things are my thing i just wish i was more successful with things 😆
