Getting The Kawasaki 1100ZXI Running

- There was a pretty long process to get this ski running... The stator was toast, the CDI was bad... the list goes on. In this episode we finally get it running. The plan was to flip this ski but I'm actually thinking about keeping it to one day be a donor for my waveblaster! We will probably ride this ski and maintain the motor until the 760 blows in the WB. I know this video is a year old, but you may have issues if you continue to run it with the 900 CDI. You can check the service manuals to be sure, but I believe the timing advance in the 900 CDI is more aggressive and could cause engine damage if run hard.

When I did that I pulled the motor mount bolts and lifted the front some blocked it and was able to get to them
What website did you use to get those carburetors?
I had the same issue on a 900. I was able to get the right side bolt but the left was impossible.
I have basic mechanic experience and my uncles jet ski has been sitting for about 7 years and he thinks the engine is seized, is it worth the shot its this same model.

What Carbs are those you put in it? I’ve got a 97 1100 that I’ve been building for a while. The CV carbs need to go. Been told running GP1200 carbs with a plate work way better. I’d be interested in more info on the ones you found and for so cheap.
Im restoring the exact same model but 1999. I'm having issues with the carbs too I believe as it only runs after I spray carb cleaner in, are the cv carbs really that bad and also how do I find better ones or the ones you got for a good price?
Cv carbs are trash, find some non 1100 cvs like these

JetSkiJarrod does the stock air box bolt to the ones you linked? My 98 is dying out when I give it more then 50% power
the random channel yes it does, not sure if those carbs are ready to run. I’d definitely look around for a clean set of non CV carbs and slap em on

I have the exact same emgine in my jet jon boat, I'm having an issue with it not doing anything at all. It has power and it reading on the meter that its getting power but it won't even crank
Hopefully you sorted this out by now. If your sure your battery is good, there’s a main fuse in the e-box underneath the black plastic screw on cap. If it’s not that, the next thing to check is if your relay is getting power when you hit the starter button.
First, with the seat removed listed carefully to the e-box or use a stethoscope while someone pushes the starter button and see if you hear a click or clunk. If you do, you probably need a new relay. If you don’t check for power to the relay.
It is the yellow/ red wire on the grey connector going into the e-box. What I would do is bypass all switches by getting a single piece of wire, insert it into the yellow red connector, and touch the other end of the wire on the battery positive. The engine should turn over. If you just hear it click, you need a relay.
If it turns over / start you then need to test your starter button.
I don’t have a diagram in front of me, but I think you need to probe the yellow/ red with the grey connector plugged in (as one of those wires feeds power to the starter button through the key switch) Use a multimeter or test light to probe the yellow/ red and you should have power when the starter button is pressed. (If the key is on)
If there’s no power you have narrowed it down the the starter button or key switch. The key switch should have power all the time at the red wire and power at red / white with the key on. (Connector plugged in) you can unplug and jump red to red /white to bypass the key switch. If this switch is working ok, and you still don’t have power at the yellow/ red at the grey connector, you either have a broken wire, or more commonly, a bad starter switch.

Does the motor and the drive shaft just slide into each other anything to unbolt there
Just slides together and there’s a small rubber dampener in between

What are you trading? I’d say like 1500 titled running and on a trailer
I got min for about 400 without a trailer and running poorly but it was only minor issues
How did u remove the orange ignition on off switch? Its seal super good. I need to replace mine
Easy there a nut behind you reach above gas take plastic nut unplug wire ignition comes right out thru top
did you by pass the orange key and now it's permanently on or did you add an aftermarket kill switch to battery?

next time use strap around these head two ears sticking out
and pull it out ,thats how i do it ive rebuild like 6 of these and they r heavy
