- Recently, many have been having fun with the newly discovered debug code within Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy, Jak 2 and Jak 3. Inputting button sequences using your controller, you can enter free camera mode and you can skip the game up until the final boss.

I find it amazing that something like this was discovered like 10 years after the game was released, ahahaha we keep finding crazy stuff, easter eggs, all sorts of things even all this time later.

I just tried this out on the PS4 emulation of Jak 1 and not only discovered that it works but accidentally unlocked a couple trophies I've yet to obtain early by trying out the function in Jak 1's debug mode that unlocks every power cell you highlight with L1+R1 in the pause menu. LOL!
I suggest using this feature with caution if you plan to 100% the game "legit"...
On a different note, I find it quite amusing that it took the hacking community so long to find this code when part of it is clearly based on the Konami code of all things.
From what I've experienced so far, I think you can unlock basically any trophy that you get from obtaining power cells.
As a long time Jak fan this is an amazing breakthrough. Very exciting news!

Confirmed working on both Jak 2 and 3. Frankly it makes me love Jak 2 even more now that I can stop going into rage mode from all the dying every .5 nanoseconds. Jak 3 you gotta jump around a bit using debug mode but it does work first try to get all the skull gem and precursor orb achievements. Literally all that's left is the level achievements so beat the game and go into hero mode after buying all the cheats and bam, instant platinum (after playing "normally.") Also found it hilarious that the debug code is a modified version of the Konami code

Exactly because of such things Jak and Daxter is my absolute favorite game series.
I was never really a big fan of jak and daxter growing up. but recently I started playing it it’s really fun I’m currently in the middle of the 2nd game
For jak 1 you can hold L3 and press circle at a warp portal to open all portals. This is what is done in the current jak 1 debug speedrun.

For many years I wanted to explore the models of Haven City and its outer wall areas, it also varies on the locations you're at, within Jak 2 what it looks like depends on whether you're at the palace/elevator, strip mine, mountains and the weapons lab. Though it's a pain to do it with Jak 3 because the damn war factory's force moves you around, but I am still able to reach the ruins, New Haven and pumping station, just can't fly freely or see the city from the strip mine which like other locations sadly wasn't brought back for Jak 3.
Can also visit the desert models you see when you fly the glider or are at Damos' place, though I already done those with the flight glitch.
Yet to try this with Jak 1, disk is gone.

VTNVIVI Looking forward to getting Jak 1 back and flying out of bounds to explore, play with the game's streaming, fly to Misty Island and Geyser Rock from the village and vise versa, fly down to the volcanic place from the mountain and explore it if it doesn't load and vise versa, explore all that land as seen from the place at the end.
I have found ways of breaking the boundaries before with Jak 2 and 3 though, and the latter's flight glitch brought a bunch of possibilities.
Jak's the perfect franchise to have a mode that allows you to fly anywhere with no limitations, hopefully non of the aforementioned stuff I hope to do with Jak 1 will crash it, I love going out of bounds and exploring what you aren't intended to reach (Even when there isn't much), exploring low quality renditions of locations.
Can we use this to skip the turret-mision in Jak 2?
Pretty incredible that it took this long to find out the debug codes. I mean yeah they are complex codes but you'd think someone would've found out about this in the same year the game was released. Mind you I guess it's possible that someone did find out about this but just never posted it online
Dude! Is this a glitch or cheat code for DEBUG!? Because it's like your breaking Jak 1,2, and 3. Man I wish there would be a New Jak and Daxter Game from Ready At Dawn in PS4!

Speaking of sly cooper, do you think there's a chance all 4 games could be brought to the PS4 like how they did with jak and daxter. I definitely think it would be possible. For when the tv show gets a release date or the 5th game finally gets announced. What do you think?
Brendan Spain who knows, it may be possible. They remastered Sly 1, 2 and 3 for the vita. Sales went well for Crash Bandicoot on the PS4 and if sales go well for Spyro, which will most likely will, they might consider remastering all the good classic games like Sly!
Jaime Diaz I think you're right. I've very excited for the spyro Remastered trilogy. But I'm also looking forward to seeing what the MediEvil remaster will be like too. I'm kind of annoyed it's only the first game and not the second game too though.
Brendan Spain if anything we should look at this as an upcoming trend! I'm pretty sure devs would rather invest their time and money into remastering classic games, knowing that the majority will buy them, rather than coming up with a new game idea and placing their bets into whether or not it'll sell well! It's a win win for everyone!
Since Crash kickstarted the trend of remastering mascot platforms I think anything’s possible and after the Spyro remastered trilogy and MediEvil the next logical step is to remaster a PS2 platformer trilogy from the “big 3”... they’ve already done Ratchet and Clank (well 1st game anyway) so either Jak and Daxter or Sly would be the next most likely pick...
Brendan Spain Sadly I missed out on MediEvil in the PS1 era but if it’s even half as good as Spyro or Crash I’d definitely be up for giving it a go...
you can get in sandover villige by i think it was(on the PS2) you skip the first cutscene while you press the eject button

After 13 years, I can finally beat Jak 2.
I remember doing this glitch with Jak 2 where you could run around Sandover, but it involved taking out the disk and putting it back in or something. And you could only do it with the PS2, I think. I never tried it with the PS3.

I found a debug too. I actually did a debug where Dark Jak could not be harmed by the Metal Head King because he was standing behind an invisible barrier. I can’t remember the buttons I hit though since I haven’t played the Jak and Daxter collection in a while.

If you are to use debug mode in Jak 1: DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use debug mode to give yourself the power cell for killing the gnawing lurkers in Spider Cave. Doing so will cause 1 orb to become unavailable, thus you'll end up with 1999 out of 2000 orbs and will have to restart the game to get the missing one. All other power cells can be unlocked just fine with debug mode however.

OK so I'm actually trying to get the orbs for jak 2 and 3 so I can get platinum trophy and all I need are just the orbs in both of those games. I'm playing on PS3 version. is there a code I can use to just get the orbs for my platinum or do I have to take every single step???
Edit: so I just ended up doing all the steps and got the platinum trophies. I'm so happy to finally put these games to rest 😁 now all that left to do is pray and wait until jak 4 comes out

Have you ever thought about making a video about where the Jak and Daxter world is in Jak 2, 3 and X? I think you'd do a kick ass job doing it. And there isn't much topic on it. I think I only found 1 and it was a rough video to watch leaving more questions then answers.
Also, on topic, I hope they find debug options for Daxter, Jak X and Jak and Daxter the Lost Frontier, because I tried this and it works, and it is awesome!

EDIT: I GOT THE PS3 VERSION WORKING BY I THINK UNPLUGGING MY SECOND CONTROLLER AND USING IT WIRELESSLY. I tried what I said I was gonna do below, but as I was inputting the code I started getting random trophies. I think it happened because I pressed "L3 + X" since that is in the second part of the code anyway.
Original comment: I'm really late, but I'm having trouble using my second contoller for the inputs. I was trying in jak 2 to give myself the jetboard early. On the wiki it says it's possible, but when I press l3 + X nothing happens. I have the digital copy on the ps3. I'm gonna try putting the first part of the code with my first cobtroller then putting the second part of the code with my second controller to see if that fixes it.
Hey Vivi, I was messing around with getting the Zoomer out the precursor basin, and it worked until I tried going towards the blue sage's machine and it made my game crash. (I say this because I wanna see if you can get them to add a hazards tab to the wiki, this way people are aware of what's going to happen when they use de-bugging mode and do certain things) and btw thx for making this vid ^^

Does the debug code work in the Jak II demo (PS2)? It doesn't seem to be working for me.
The technical wiki page does not mention the demo, so I take it it does not work on demos.

I’m trying to do this on the precursor legacy.... I’m doing the button sequence on the main menu screen, where u have the giant “jak and daxter” logo flying around..... I hear the “beep” when I do it but nothing happens... can anybody tell me what else I have to do?!
Make sure to input both codes. The beep indicates it's working. Then follow the wiki for whatever it is you want to accomplish :)

So my ps2 randomly crashed while I was playing “destroy drill platform tower”, and when I started up the game my save file put me all the way back 6 hours earlier. I decided screw playing all that again I’m gonna cheat this ho back to where I was, but somehow when I put in the 2 debugs it reloaded my game to where I was when it crashed- what I’m saying is, I know this video is old but it saved me hours so thanks!

Jak 2 had some challenges I agree.
I don't think that using debug mode on a game is cool in speedrunning, I'm cool using glitches and tricks but this is cheating

@@VtnVivi to be honest after 4 years I can't consider it real cheating, it's a feature inside the games at the end of the day, but still I prefer watching runs without it
